  1. Worst article ever on New York Times Takes Aim At Data Center · · Score: 1

If you think this article isn't terrible, front page lul is the following: http://www.nytimes.com/imagepages/2012/09/23/us/jp-data-5.html Apparently Corning now makes diskless, powerless servers built on nothing but fiber. This article is a damn joke. The internet industry is one of the best on power consumptions. Why? Mainly because all companies are aware of the trouble that other industries have already endured and they are intelligent enough to plan around those issues.

I am so pleased to see that today's generation of young gamers are more accepting of linux that this can be a possibility. Id Software tried just over 20 years ago with distribution via lokigames.com but the project failed due to lack of support to PAY for a linux game at the time and the over production of product that left lokigames to go bankrupt. Hopefully Valve has a better business plan. ***SPOILER ALERT*** I have a feeling they do.

Too soon to tell how this will evolve. The first two phones that used VOIP with a cellular backup have beenn out for over a year in Europe. These phones have serious dead zones in coverage no matter what the manufacturer claims. This is why the cellular backup is huge to have on the phone. The biggest problem I have seen with these phones is the design and the secured wifi access issues. Carriers of internet are going to have to work with cellular phone companies if this is to work, if not, then the wifi networks you come across , unless you break the WEP protection to get a key or any protection they might have, the wifi network is useless to you. Also the design of the phone is ugly, the battery is pretty cheap and the phones look like the early models of the first wave of cell phone.

Many scientists are upset with how science has been made a mockery lately. However whatever is told to us is what we will believe. Other scientists have found soft tissue in dinosaur fossils, coming up with evidence that dinosaurs aren't really that old and MAY have lived on the planet with man. Most scientists, have considered this a travesty of science, even after a year of study. (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/7285683/) Either way what makes it to the history books is what our kids will believe and listen too. The endless debate between Creationism and Evolution will only result in the destruction of man. One side doesn't like what the other side thinks and vice versa, one will have bombs and one won't. I really wish that they could have open and realistic debates on this on television and radio. Sorta like C-Span but for science. If this is already happening, it should happen more.

Yea the spin is retarted. What most people don't comment is that the bill was also going to give the FCC control of fiber lines. Since that announcement, they split that bill to a new one, and the promotion of the bill has behind the motto of "Make the Internet Work For You". With the death of this bill, the spin of evil republicans will now way forge to the new bill that will give the government control of fiber lines. This sounds cool in theory, cause they will regulate speeds so everyone gets proper internet speeds. However they will also have control of the internet backbone, which can allow them to manipulate wording to force censorship and tracking of the users of that internet. DUN DUN DUNNNN

It's a nice thought but lets just make with the giant track and self automated vehicles at this point. Prevent drunkdriving (cause no one is driving), accidents, speeding, etc. If people don't want to give up control of their cars completely, they can be half auto and half manual. Manual for country and rural, and automatic for Suburbs and Cities.

That is not a compromise in anyway. Simple compromise that can be fought for and would be seen simple in the eyes of the court, would be to make companies that sell me the CD offer me a coupon to download it in mp3, only one download per coupon code. Pretty simple compromise, if iTunes got their shit together, instead of seperating themselves from companies like Sony, they could offer a printout coupon , almost like a Ticketmaster TicketFAST printable ticket, that would allow me to go into the store and get the CD copy for free. Sony already started their own online iTUNES like site, and should offer something like this option to consumers. This is called a compromise. To be an idiot and stalemate an issue like this helps no one. It is easy to say "Let them do what they want in protection, I just won't buy their cds, I have my bittorrents." This is a dumb defense, cause when the torrents are all gone, then the bitching just starts back up. At that point though the bitching will have nothing left to back up, because all this time we said it was ok for what they were doing cause they either have the option of "Lose the Protection" or "We Dont Buy". Telling a company to lose the protection of something that your favorite artist created will not get you any results. Companies like this dont just fold on this pressure, and the Music industry is in no shape or cost for a Indie company to step in and offer the same artist's music with no protection. That just doesnt happen. As stupid as it sounds, its the artist's job. You may think they make too much now, but who are you to decide ? You didnt sell them the contract, nor did you offer them a job when they werent musical talent. If you were being fed millions of dollars a year, you wouldnt give two shits either how the publishing company protected your cd, as long as it protected where the consumer, the fans, had to buy the cd. Thats called an economy. We dont live in Soviet Russia, if you dont like capitalism, then move the hell out and stop buying American produced/published cds.

  15. Re:Big surprise on RIAA: Ripping CDs to iPod not 'Fair Use' · · Score: 1

Simple facts. If half the internet blogs that preach "Anti-DRM" actually read the DMCA that was released in 1996, and was petitioned against by yours truly, you would know that ripping cds to your iPOD in no way falls under fair use clause. In 1999 Sony exploited this by showing the loophole in the DMCA. Fair use is legal, but not if the publisher of the cd encrypts the cd in any way for protection. If you break the encryption from the publisher to make a fair use copy of your cd, it is illegal. Now just because it did not say iPOD backups and it said fair use cd backups, are we really going to play the "im that dumb" act in our defense ? Why not come to a compromise or ideas of compromise, instead we just keep trying to get the government to redefine the laws so they exactly specify the technology, rather than force them to compromise on newer technology. Please, I beg for this on every blog on the internet that claims to know what they are talking about, and I will beg here. If you want to effectively fight against the RIAA or DRM in any media, please have a legitimate defense or compromise solution. Our society is dumbing down and being taken advantage here.

are you kidding me ? where the hell do you calculate these numbers from, this is worse than when Bush said social security would go bankrupt in the year 2045 (actually he said even earlier) but still to predict these stats off numbers of past performances is dumb. it just isnt accurate. 1/3 of software used is illegal ? does anyone honestly believe that? this tripe are reasons that people are hunted like animals. i dont condone piracy in any way, but i know it happens, but the feeling has always been , so what. the pirates have to buy the game to rls it anyhow, and if not its a security issue in the company. this type of stuff is always overblown, like the bullshit with halflife 2 being pushed back 4 months because it was leaked. why would a leak push back a game rls, if not in the game was actually changed ? if the game was close to final, who the hell cares. all the real fans of the game were buying it anyhow. and guess what ? they still did. most people who download the game from pirates dont bother to even finish the game. the real fans buy it, how its always been. if people think they are losing sales in games because of pirates, they are pretty wrong. "numbers dont lie" but they can be altered, as they were for movies when that was over dramatized, politicians even admitted the numbers were beefed up. most of the people who download the games arent really at fault, they would do the same, if say their friend bought the game and they copied it. however the people that run huge factories for the sole purpose to make exact replicas of the games and sell them to the public are in the wrong. thats the difference that should never be overlooked in this type of situation. just something for people to keep in mind when things like this are in the news.

This is a huge problem in california, and me not being a racist, i see no real reason that people who jump into our country can use to claim they deserve to not pay taxes for 3 years as immigrants, when they fled to this country for freedom and citizenship. If you dont want to be a citizen of this country, then leave, millions a day in my home state work extremely hard to make sure people have a good way of life , people in our homes, community, and on a greater scale our state. outside of this old news, i would hope more people follow cspan and sign reports on this RFID setup. mainly because no matter what solution they pick for the database setup, huge security risks will be open, and i would be more worried about that. well that, and someone who just opens the hole in security to show the company it is there, but then their acts are made public by news media or themselves and boom, everyone is able to open the hole. if you really dont want people to fuck with your personal info, do not make give others the ability to do so...in short, i hope some people go out and actually research this problem, cause it will be a big change for this coountry.
