  2. Humble Dev's Request on First Xouvert Milestone Released · · Score: -1, Interesting

I'm a developer on the xouvert project, and glad to see it made Slashdot. Please download this latest version, give it a try, and make a stand for quality X-servers. Ron

  3. The IRS on Considerations When Accepting Bandwidth Donations? · · Score: 0, Troll

Bandwidth donations are taxed. I did some guy's tax returns last year and we calculated he lost almost 100 per month on just a T-1 line.

  5. Won't Work on Australian Researchers Push Near-Broadband IP Over VHF · · Score: 1, Troll

As a transmission engineer, I can tell you this scheme will not work for long. Those frequency bands will soon be reserved for the HDTV spectrum, not to mention ultra wideband interference. J

  6. WRONG on VoIP Gets A Big Backer And Another Lawsuit · · Score: -1, Troll

I work for the AT&T telco division, and we are by far the number one user of IP equipment anywhere. It's just that all that technology is kept internal to keep our focus on POTS. We could own VoIP if we wanted to... but not just yet. J

  7. Almost Used in iPod on Open Source Finally Hits Real Silicon · · Score: -1, Troll

I'm a systems designer on the iPod team, and we actually considered OpenRISC as the CPU on future iPod versions. Its appeal to open-source lovers made it a serious contender.

  8. Cool Feature on Mozilla Thunderbird 0.4 Released · · Score: -1, Troll

I just d/l'd the latest version and must say it rocks. The coolest new feature is that Slashdot is already preloaded into T-birds favorites list. Go Mozilla! J

  9. Little Known Fact on New York City, LEGO Style · · Score: 1, Troll

The larger Lego structures are actually held together with super-glue on the joints, or else parts of the structure would topple under its own weight! Lego is sturdy enough for your little space ship and fire truck, but not much else. I use DUPLO. J

  10. Robot make good car on The Robots are Coming · · Score: 0, Troll

I'm in middle management at Honda, and the real reason they are so interested in robots, Linux or otherwise, is to automate the car manufacturing process. The company line is to have robots doing 80% of the manufacturing of an auto by 2010.

  11. Moller's Idea on Personal SUV of the Sky · · Score: 0, Troll

I hear this vehicle is actually being funded by Moller as a way of building hype for skycars in general. Most of the technology is just rehashed from his own Skycar.

  12. About the Money on Plow Operators Object to GPS Tracking System · · Score: 1, Informative

My Dad is one of the private contractors, and he tells me the problem is that most plowboys think GPS costs thousands of dollars. I keep telling him you can get decent GPS equipment for under a grand these days. J
