The GHCA (Greater Houlton Christian Academy) has a nice Linux based lab too. They say they saved a lot of money doing it this way, which seems pretty obvious... Their webpage is here

but if you do a little research you find the author is a complete wack-job. Just checkout this other article he wrote.

The concept, and I think this is obvious, is that when they graduate they will go to college. Who goes directly into any job that requires computer experience without at least an associates degree, anyway? I will answer your comment as if it were serious, anyway.

The school is question is an elaborate joke promulgated by the people at landover baptist, with a yearly tuition of US $2290. Colleges cost more, but only for four years. I imagine that even students on their scholarship program (the tuition is minimally US $590 per anum) mostly go on to college, especially the nerds in the computer room.

If the parents can afford to send their kids to private school, they can probably afford to send them to college. The ones in the computer room are likely to want to go.

For that matter, if the parents can afford to send their kids to a private school, they probably have computers at home, and they probably run windows; the hippies-for-christ up in Maine may choose to avoid computers in their homes, but I don't really think it's much of an issue.

If you want a water cooling system but don't have a notebook, http://www.agaweb.com/coolcpu/ is a good place to start. I tried it out once and overclocked my system by over 50%.

Kind of like Honda shipping riced up Civics by default, it's pretty funny that the industry is following the overclockers. To take a look at the roots of water cooling, check out the definitive hobbyist on the subject, complete with alternate designs, plans, technical faq - the works.

Personally, I'll buy it when it's packaged and done for me, and not until then.

Gee, a homemade air cooling device is pretty cool, but if you're going to do it yourself, why not spend your time making the most kick-ass cooling system you can? There are several places that sell kits, and lots of good information. If you're going to make your own cooler, at least do it in style!

Seriously though, this was a pretty cool idea (pardon the pun), next time the might wanna try using something a little more effective then coke. The can was a good idea because the aluminum conducts heat very well.
If they could find a copper tube about the same size as the coke bottle, fill it with water, and seal it up tight. Then you might be able to get it down to about 30F or so.
But thier are tons of other liquids that would cool better.

Most people might have better luck with a water cooling solution based on the Kryotech design. Tons of them around.

About 6 months ago I got this idea and started to do some serious research on the internet and I have amassed a fem book marks of sites with some more informative content. I think the most informative site is Water cooled CPU's
. Basicaly he addresses most of the points brought up in this discussion. In brief; Alcohol sucks, use Vasaline to stop condensation on the pins, and water works really well.
