Re:May I be so presumptuous?
Please leave us alone. We can run our own country just fine without you.
Sure. We can. We're imperfect, but we have raised imperfection to a high art.
:-)What we need to go with this is a Prime Minister who believes it too, and you know how Stephen Harper behaves when the U.S. is in the picture. Maybe he just needs some more positrons...

If more content provider were doing this...
Air Farce Productions, Inc. is making all their recent Royal Canadian Air Farce shows available for download on their website. It's remarkable that they are doing this because they are selling DVD of the show as well. And for those wondering, these are not DRM protected files. (Don't miss the episodes where they shoot Bush with the chicken canon [Episode 11-NYE]!) If more producers where doing this, this would end the all the piracy of TV shows on the net. And I would not mind if they left the commercials in their downloadable version.

Thanks To EveryoneThanks to everyone who pointed out my double typo.
The only reason I'm posting is because I had just woken from a nightmare. For some reason, I had left my keys in the door lock... and about 10 people who were about to do no good figured this out.
Either way, go search google for "fired chicken" and there's a noticeable lack of
.edu results in the first 4 pages.Just in keeping with the "Funny" (bastard) moderation of the parent, i came across this gem: The Air Farce Chicken Cannon Which caught my attention mostly because it started out with "Royal Canadian"
An edu does turn up on page 5 though. I pity their toilets after they eat "Fiery Pepper Pot Stew" -
Re:Beware of any News Reporters
Sounds like a sketch regularly shown on This Hour Has 22 Minutes or Air Farce (Can't remember which because I always watch them one after the other).

Re:Is anyone else
You haven't seen anything until you've seen Queer Eye For The Al-Qaeda Guy (snaps to the Royal Canadian Air Farce

Re:Satire or not...
I think it is worth mentioning that some of the most popular Canadian television production is political satire, Canadians are quite familiar with the genre.
For starters, This Hour Has 22 Minutes, and Royal Canadian Air Farce. Both of these are shown on CBC TV, the CBC being the federal government sponsored media group (TV, AM/FM/SW radio) similar in design but smaller than the BBC. -

Re:Fun with telemarketers
The satirical TV show "Royal Canadian Air Farce" puts videos of their skits online. This is one they did in April of 2001:
"Professor Aphazard demonstrates how to prevent the most hated domestic pest - unwanted salespersons."
They have a bit on telemarketers. Unfortunately, they only provide the video in Real Media. It's 2 minutes and 30 seconds long. It's quite funny, IMHO. ^.^

Difference between Defamation and Satire
State Opposition Justice spokesman Lawrence Springborg said that despite the federal proposals, he would introduce a Private Member's Bill on defamation in Parliament today. It would call for defamation to be an indictable offence with up to five years' jail on conviction.
The case of defamation in the article might have certainly not been satire, but there is a wide blur line here.
How can somebody make an honest joke (about somebody) and not get penalized.
Case in point: Royal Canadian Air Farce (note: you can download episodes off of their website)
Their entire show is pretty much satire on people. Politicians mainly. Their imitation of Chretien has to be the best. This show might be cut and dry humour. But many satires are not quite as far on the humour spectrum.
Please tell me how you can distinguish them. -

Huh...Does their spokesman happen to be Wilford Brimley (realmedia format, high quality)? He's been campaigning for this for about 7-8 years "because it's the right thing to do..."

Finally, US tv gets a clue!
Sorry, I have to say it. American tv finally gave a prestigious award to a satirical political/current events show, only years after the huge and possibly continent-wide fame of The Royal Canadian Air Farce. The Air Farce and its cast have won some pretty heavy awards (during one awards ceremony, the actual politicians the Air Farce skewers played the actors who usually played them and performed a sketch).
Now I will be really impressed when real US politicians go on the show. Now, we all know Governor Bush would never do such a thing (Billy Clintstone might have, though), but the Air Farce has had "one Prime Minister, one Leader of the Opposition, two PC Leaders, 1 NDP Leader, [and] 1 Premier" on so far.
In any case, I think this is a great step forward for a tiny segment of US tv, at least.
Now we'll know the US is catching up to Canada in this department when the NEA starts funding The Daily Show.
