A good start, but not the big problem
Far more serious are real reviewers, who are happy to give a 4 or 5 star review to anything they get for free:
http://www.amazon.com/forum/am...
Amazon explicitly allows this, which I guess is better than driving it underground, but does nothing to account for this heavy reviewer bias:
"if you offer a free or discounted product in exchange for a review, you must clearly state that you welcome both positive and negative feedback. If you receive a free or discounted product in exchange for your review, you must clearly and conspicuously disclose that fact."
https://www.amazon.com/gp/help...
I've seen MANY products whose 4.5 star averages are purely because the seller sends out tons of free samples in exchange for positive reviews. Meanwhile, products that are considerably less expensive but don't bribe their customers unfortunately get less prominently featured in search results because their average rating, sales counts, and review numbers are so much lower.

Tongue in cheek reviews?
What about reviews written tongue in cheek for humor? Amazon seems to actually embrace them:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/featu...How is the USB cable review different than the ones in the link above?

IQ points
I suspect the need for sleep is roughly correlated with IQ points.
The example of this guy (BTW a very capable and personable fellow) did nothing to change my mind.

We will be happy if we can fly a paper plane in our own backyard anymore.
Yeah, these may be covered by any "drone" legislation as well:

Re:Good.
Treating a 30g copter with a 10m range the same as a 5kg copter with a 1km range will mean the death of whole industries that pose no threat to anybody.
Exactly.
I have no problem with trying to put some safety measures in place to prevent some catastrophic accidents or serious injury to bystanders, but trying to impose a mindless blanket regulation for everything is simply the wrong way to govern.
This toy is not the same and should not be regulated the same as this quadcopter.
Current aviation regulations are filled with rules that apply based various criteria. The type of aircraft, the weather, the number of passengers, the geographical location, the time of day, etc, etc. The rules are not there to stifle -- they are applied as needed where appropriate. Regulation of consumer items such as RC airplanes and quadcopters should be handled the same way.

Chromebook begs "Please erase my hard drive!"
You linked to a list of mostly Chromebooks. A Chromebook has two modes: non-developer mode and developer mode. In non-developer mode, the only app it can run is Google Chrome, which means I would have to rewrite all my programs from scratch in JavaScript as Chrome apps before I can run them. In developer mode, a Chromebook begs you to erase its hard drive every time you turn it on, with a message to the effect "OS verification is turned off. Press Space to perform a factory reset." Others have run into the same problem: "The user I lent it to pressed the spacebar at the scary message prompt and erased my entire Chomebook" [sic].
Narrow to "Linux" (by which I think they mean X11/GNU/Linux) and there are only six results, mostly either used (and therefore out of warranty) or over $500 (when they were $300 two years ago).

Re:Koran 9:29
I have butted your post. It is you that does not understand Islam. You know a little, but miss more. I hope you will actually be a "nerd" and read and understand my post. You will then understand that you know far less about Islam that you suppose, and are in-fact providing cover for Islamic Supremacism (although unwittingly, it would seem). Remember, some people on the web know a lot more than you do - and humility and an open mind is the path to wisdom.
If you really do want to get up to speed with actual Islamic doctrine and how it pertains to the World today then I strongly recommend the following for you:
"Catastrophic Failure: Blindfolding America in the face of jihad"
http://www.amazon.com/gp/produ...
Or you can watch any of Stephen Coughlin's, or the Center for Security Policy's videos - they are condensed from briefings that he used to give to Flag Officers at the Pentagon. You cannot get a better source than that.Sorry to be so abrasive, but you make the mistake of so many Slashdotters in that because you are smart in one area you think that any point of view that is different from your own is "inaccurate", and use the snarky "please don't let facts or logic guide you. They are just minor inconveniences.". It never occurs to you that your own position might be based on correct but partial information and your interlocutor could know more than you do. If you use the Scientific Method you will stop making these errors and become a geek (skilled) rather than a nerd (wannabe).
Islam is the greatest totalitarian threat to Free Society that were have ever faced. It mixes the racism and supremacism of National Socialism with the totalitarianism of Soviet Socialism. And now that Islamism is allied with increasingly totalitarian Cultural Marxism of Progressive Socialism the Free People of the World are in for a hell of rough ride.
Fortunately Islam will be completely defeated because it is false and man-made (just like Scientology and Christianity - although Islam is far more deceptive and dangerous than either of those). To understand some of the evidence of how Islam's narrative is completely defeated by satellite imagery you can look at videos such as these (the Christians seem to be the only ones paying attention to this stuff - we atheists are too busy patting ourselves on the back to actually listen to Islamists or understand what is going on):
"An Historical Critique of Islams Beginnings - Jay Smith"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?...Stop defending Sharia until you actually understand ALL the Islamic doctrines, please.

Why You Should Be Suspicious of All Online RatingsThere I fixed that title.
.
All online ratings and reviews are played with and are dubious, at best. There are some good ratings/reviews, such as this review of a book of random numbers.
But, for the most part, online reviews should be viewed with a good deal of skepticism.

Who is buying the FX-8370?
That hasn't been the sweet spot for the FX chips in like...well ever.
Us that buy AMD chips are not buying the FX-8370, the bang for the buck just isn't there, if you want an octocore the sweet spot is the FX-8320, either the FX-8320 or the FX-8320E if you want to lower the power a tad, which is what I personally went for. The really hot spot right now is the FX-6300 which is a great gaming chip. A 3.5Ghz/4.1Ghz turbo chip with 6 cores for $99? Its a kick ass buy at that price.
As for the 6500? Its a good chip, although I don't know why they are calling them "Linux friendly" when its Intel that have been coming up with all the nasty DRM chips going all the way back to HDCP and Palladium, but strictly based on the CPU? Its a good chip. I just have to wonder how many chips both Intel and AMD are gonna move when a 7 year old C2Q or Phenom II has no problem running pretty much every piece of software out there including games, both companies have built such badass chips for years that most users have piles of cycles left over.

Re:a world we've been warning about for decades
"That's kind of sad, actually"
No it was actually the intent. The rich want to keep control over the masses, their politics and public opinion. They do that via control of information.
First, see the science on reasoning:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PYmi0DLzBdQ
In his 1970 book Between Two Ages: America's Role in the Technetronic Era, Brzezinski wrote the following.
"The technetronic era involves the gradual appearance of a more controlled society. Such a society would be dominated by an elite, unrestrained by traditional values. Soon it will be possible to assert almost continuous surveillance over every citizen and maintain up-to-date complete files containing even the most personal information about the citizen. These files will be subject to instantaneous retrieval by the authorities."

The internet is a threat to all institutions of power (aka the rich and their corporations). The free flow of information is detrimental to their goals and aims (profits and control over us).

The (mass surveillance) by the NSA/others and abuse by law enforcement is just more part and parcel of state suppression of dissent against corporate interests. They're worried that the more people are going to wake up and corporate centers like the US and canada may be among those who also awaken. See this vid with Zbigniew Brzezinski, former United States National Security Advisor.

"who else would there be to ensure contracts are enforced and not just useless words on paper? without courts, who would determine if people have been injured or mistreated and ensure justice for those people?"
Sorry to tell you but the real world is very much not like what you just stated. When corporations can strip of us of our rights to own shit and have been doing so for roughly 200 years now.

Re:What if I own my own roads?
The guy in the article has just written a book about robots and automation. It was released today.
The purpose of this article, and the connection with driverless cars, is to draw attention to the book, so he can sell more copies.
If he had brought up reasonable points, I could accept that, but the points he brings up in the article seem rather lame to me. -

On the flip side, anyone who does do this with said $15 dongle can consequently be located by a resourceful and pissed-off individual using an even cheaper dongle, who can then decide on the proper payba...er...action to take.

Re:Irrelevant
I would say Reagan wasn't a sellout.
Depends on your version of "a sellout". He started political life as an FDR supporter, then changed his tune when G.E. started paying him to tour the country shilling for them in the 50's. So some might argue that he actually sold out long before he was ever elected.

Re:"At that price it's almost a burner"
I paid 80 bucks new from Amazon for this now discontinued phone.
http://smile.amazon.com/gp/pro...Quite respectable, and a few months ago, was my best pick under 100 bucks. My girlfriend uses it, and she didn't want anything expensive, just basic Android apps, internet, etc. By anyone's standard, this is a smart phone.

Re:"At that price it's almost a burner"
Yep, there are a hundred or more on Amazon for under $200

So, no you just believe the propaganda, that's all economics is - propaganda for the masses. We can go back in time to when people lived in tribes, before such ideas and concepts were invented. That's the real world, aka just humans and nature. Everything else is a human invention. By reducing mankind (as a system) to its simplest state, we see the outgrowth of artificial structures as a result of one group of primates attacking another and forcefully imposing their culture upon them. AKA real science, to determine what is real and true you go back to the beginning before all these artificial structures were invented. Laws of nature don't need the NSA to protect them or former national security advisors worried about "radicals" and "heretics" (aka disbelievers in "economics").
Am I going to believe some podunk slashdot poster/puppet, or the former National security advisor of the United states?
The (mass surveillance) by the NSA/others and abuse by law enforcement is just more part and parcel of state suppression of dissent against corporate interests. They're worried that the more people are going to wake up and corporate centers like the US and canada may be among those who also awaken. Um, what other smart phones cost under $205? I can think of none.
There are lots of choices at that price point.

Re:"At that price it's almost a burner"
The 16GB version of the ASUS zenfone2 is $199.99 carrier-free and is considered to be a reasonably good mid-grade phone.
