"AMC Stubs A-List" $20 a month for 3 movies a week
AMC Theatres has a new thing called "AMC Stubs A-List". For $20 a month (+ tax) you can watch 3 movies a week at any AMC theater. All formats (2D, 3D, Imax), showtimes, and movie selections are included, and your watch list resets every Friday morning. Special event movies aren't included. I signed up 2 weeks ago and watched 2 movies each week (4 so far) so the plan has already paid for itself this month. https://www.amctheatres.com/

Side note - terrible hyperlinking
I went to read the (very short) article linked to by the summary and the link to the actual AMC announcement was just the word "Wednesday" hyperlinked...
I have to admit I was pretty unsure what I would get clicking on a link to just the word "Wednesday". Would I get a dictionary definition? Some kind of add for an Adams Family Blu Ray special? Almost the last thing I expected to reach was the AMC press release...
Very curious choice.
Also for those curious, the program opens Tuesday, June 26 on the app and website.

If you're an AMC customer...
Pay for $5 tickets at the AMC box office on Tuesdays from now to 12/19/2017.

Re:Not affordable
Does that price include tax? Regular screening is $14.19+ [1] IMAX is $21+

Re:Movie theaters
You need to find the right theaters. Like this, this, etc. I can't tell you the last time I've been in a movie where there were kids screaming or people talking. Those giant recliners also mean fewer people in the theater in general, and there is enough space between your feet and the seats in front of you so that you can be reclining in your chair while the server is brining your next drink and you don't even have to move, let alone deal with anyone hitting the back of your seat.
Also, I have at least one friend who always shows up to the theater early because he wants to watch all the previews.
I don't go to see movies at theaters as much as I used to, but when I do it's always to one of those places. If I can't order a beer and some popcorn with actual butter that comes in a giant bowl like I would make at home then that's not the place for me.

Re:blu rays are cheaper than the movie
This:
If theaters want to improve movie going, they will need to treat their customers as guests.
Cheaper prices concession food. Don't nitpick about people who bring in their own food.
Put restrooms in quick distance from the theater. -
DLP!
Try seeing it in DLP format! I saw it today in a crappy AMC theatre, but it was DLP format so it was decent. Audio setup sucked though. I will see the movie again in a better theater.

My employer...
... is giving full-time employees tickets to see it at a local AMC theater (DLP screen!) on purpose because managers know a lot of employees will see it (take time off). Of course, we return to work after the movie. It is called "team building".
:)
Co-workers and I can't complain!
