For the reference the official Web pages of Dani Bunten, as they were at the time of her death, are mirrored at http://anticlockwise.com/dani/ and based on what I remember from the time She was still alive, those pages are as She left them. Read them, she was visionary of gaming and had plenty of good ideas about networked games, corporation sequel.making and other gaming related areas.

As much I like the Original M.U.L.E., I cant go on downloadign and playing this game.

Considering the Fact that these new holders of the name Ozark Softscape were not norn while the game was made and did (alongside their mother) abandon Dani Bunten Barren after her transformation I'd like people to show their respect to original author and tell these **** to get lost.

even though it was built close to ideal curves, it didn't work as well as I'd hoped. Granted, I was in open space with no room reinforcement and it wasn't built of very heavy material, but it certainly did give me quite a crash course in audio engineering and the many problems and trade offs that you have.

If you've never listened to a good horn loaded-tube driven setup you'll be amazed at how clean and pure they can sound.

I hope I'm don't come off as intolerant, but this got me thinking: Is this a coincidence? Or maybe it's just that video game programmers (or programmers in general) tend to be dissatisfied with their lives, and thus more likely to try something extreme?

The article got it just right -- it didn't try to hide the fact that Dani had transitioned, but it didn't make it the central fact, either. Which is a Good Thing, as there's much more to a person than just the fact of having had SRS or not.

Dani would have been the first to tell you that, too -- she had a very negative view of her transition, and posted an article on her web site (which didn't make it onto her memorial site) advising people considering transition not to. I disagree with her perspective on that (stop for a moment and parse the name "Futaba-chan" :-)), but there's a lot more to being trans than just transition.

BTW, she changed her last name to "Berry" when she transitioned.

My favorite rare game was written by a now dead transsexual for the Apple ][. And I am not trolling, Cytron Masters rocked and transsexuals wrote a lot of games during the 80s! Weird but true...

EA has been singing this song for at least 15 years. Why do you think they are called Electronic Arts? When Trip Hawkins founded EA in 1982, it was with artistic aspirations. Their box design and advertising glorified the programmers, and attempted to give them rock star street cred.

It worked, to a large extent. Does anyone else remember the glamour shots of Bill Budge on the packaging for Pinball Construction Set? Does anyone remember the fantasy chess game Archon? Look at this picture of the programmers from 1984.

Electronic Arts used to be a great company. Then they started franchising popular and safe games, and produced the long but dull series of sports games for which they are now famous. EA classics include: Music Construction Set, Articfox, Marble Madness, Ferrari Formula One, the Bard's Tale series, Seven Cities of Gold. Seven Cities of Gold was designed by the amazing Bill Bunten (AKA Danielle Berry), who has a tribute page here.

And they weren't the only game company from that era with artistic aspirations: Lucasfilm Games was also in on the act.
