You might check the classified section of Fark.com. Although it has its share of standard, flashy web ads, it has a classified section which shows text links along the right column of the page.

Though it's not necessarily all about porn, a good deal of the classified listings are "boobies" related. Further, such ads make the site much more money as the pricing structure is $25 for normal ads and $100 for 'Not Safe For Work' ads.

I'm sure it wasn't a magic bullet for them, however. They had the classified section in long before they started throwing in the annoying flashing ads. In fact, I think you can still go through their farkives and see the site design regress to earlier versions as you do so. Or there's always the Internet Archive

There are gross GIF animations, mostly from other sites. There's some "gay pride" stuff. There's some tacky porno. There are little stories and poems. Babelfish translations don't help much; it's colloquial Italian with sexual content, like this:

Thats why all the HalfLife mods look rather simple compared to today's 3d games, the core engine is somewhat limited. As the parent post mentioned, even though it is an old engine, complex geometry can bring even the heftiest modern gaming rig to its knees, it is just the way the game engine is designed, simple stuff screams but get out of hand with your level geometry and you'll slow everyone down.

Wonder why? Well, they're probably tired of having everything they say being thrown back in their face. So, they have decided they aren't going to win over the server room, and they are aiming for the business side.

This is probably preaching to the choir, but M$ rules through fear, and Linux has no "target"...What company do they aim for...Redhat? SUSE? IBM?.

This is what scares M$ the most...Linux can not "die"...even if they killed it today, it could come back anytime...even 10 years from now, stronger and better than ever.

Remember back to the summer of '99, before Microsoft bought Bungie, and we were all looking forward to Halo, "Coming soon for Windows and Mac OS"? And then, suddenly, a year later, it changed to Halo, "Coming soon to a platform near you". Well, according to this press release, Halo is finally coming (in a year or so) for Windows and Mac OS.

Go see the archive for yourself. If that isn't a squatted domain, I don't know what is.

Better yet, request the Alexa bot to crawl your site for the Internet Archive.

They even archive linked files and images. So, you could post your old mailboxes. Encrypt them, if needed. By the time future archeologists find it, it should be easily crackable, if legal.

Just a little side note here...
There is an ongoing project in Sweden (swedish), and also one in the U.S.A dedicated to preserving the type of information which would earlier typically have been printed.
Which I guess is the information we really want to preserve; the 1.2 million geocities homepages are probably not going to be of particularly large relevance to people in the year 2200.
