Re:The science of better Guinness
Black Butte Porter, Obsidian Stout, Stone Imperial Russian Stout, and Contorter Porter quickly come to mind as beating the pants off of imported Guinness, as does any of the offerings from either Rogue or Bell's (except for Bell's Cherry Stout which sucks--the sole exception for an otherwise world-beating brewery). Your locale probably has a microbrewery or craft brewer that can do the same.

Re:Meanwhile ... at Demon Internet Corporate Offic
Well, I'm originally from Minnesota (posting AC as this is really offtopic and I'm sober now) and I must defend our breweries. I'm also half Swedish and half Belgian so I've got more than a little of the drink in me. Now that Leinenkugals is sold everywhere, I guess it's pointless for me to tell you to get that from Chippewa falls. As for the Belgium blonds and extravagant ales we might not have anything out there quite as good. But, might I suggest Grain Belt and Summit for your everyday needs and Surly's (if you can get Coffee Bender then it will be I who is jealous) for your guiness and irish-y needs? You should be able to find all of the Oberon beers out there, places in Minneapolis even sell kegs of Bell's one hearted and two hearted ales. I've gotten wrecked quite proper on those many a time. I was also a fan of Goose Island's Hex Nut Brown Ale which is from Missouri I believe.
Lastly, I come from a small town in the southwest of Minnesota where we now have a brewery in the small town of Lucan called Brau Brothers. Their scotch ale is delicious and definitely required drinking if you like scotch, whiskey or bourbon.
Hope this helps you in your quest! I loath those sconnies but miss Minnesota. Try not to become a rabid idiotic Packers fan!

They're still a little behind the curve.
Try Red Hook Coffee Stout or Bells Java Stout. Both good, but I'll tilt a glass of Bells any day of the week.

Parent is flaimbait troll foodWhoever marked you informative must have followed Taco's suggestion and started at 10 this morning.
First, it's pale yellow water with alcohol. But since all you seem to have taken the time to acquaint yourself with are the mass-market American lagers, this clearly isn't an area of expertise for you. Understandable if not forgivable.
Secondly, take a look here for real American beer:

Go out, try some. Then come back and actually add something to the discussion other than the same old lame, tired-ass meme.

American beers are made of piss
There's a rather good explanation for this. Not that I'm defending it, but rather explaining it to understand it and adress it at the root cause.
Prohibition was a scary time for Americans, particularly breweries - most of which went out of business. Prohibition was created by women marching in the streets, complaining that their husbands had become drunks in the saloons. Who could blame them - during the depression, there weren't many jobs to keep them occupied.
When prohibition was repealed, the breweries wanted to create beer that would appeal to women, so that they would become consumers and not vote again for prohibition. So they made their beers lighter, and specialized in the lager field that they felt was more approachable for those who weren't accustomed to drinking beer.
Sadly, America's beer development was stuck on training wheels until about the 80s, when certain individuals started experimenting with brewing their own. This launched a movement where people started becoming more interested in flavor rather than just getting drunk.
In case you haven't been to this side of the pond recently, there are many wonderful breweries that severly stomp on most European breweries which are stuck doing things the way they did around the time that America was discovered. I'd highly reccomend checking out some of these breweries:

Re:Better idea.
That's not hung over - that is your body rejecting the chemically processed waste that you have been drinking.
Next time try drinking some beer - it will taste better, and you'll feel better as well.
I suggest you try to track down some Third Coast Old while it is in season, or if you can't find it some regular Third Coast would also be a good idea . -
