Re:No, they'll be Steve Jobs' Best Friend
Who says it has anything to do with Adobe or Flash?

Re:Some much better...
Mmm.. harder to read than Perl... Now you're speaking my language(s)!
-
OO is overrated.
What you really should be learning is the up-coming trend of Transport Oriented Languages. They're all the rage at leading universities and businesses as the paradigm is an exciting new way to streamline your development synergies! (Note: Previous sentence is not true.)

Re:It depends
Well then, lets encourage these bulls to start the ball rolling in getting the cows programming in the COW programming language. I'm sure if we hooked up an infinite number of bovine beasts all programming in COW then we could get them to write the entire collection of William Shakesphere, or 99 bottles of beer.
We can also power the computers using the cows. Once the cows have written a module to churn the milk into cheese, we dangle the cheese infront on them whilst they're on treadmills. Thus a perpetual system for efficiently producing the worlds electricity and dairy products, and creating the worlds software solutions is created. Us geeks can take a rest for a while, using the worlds protein surplus to gain hulk-like muscles and we can finally take over the world. This may lead to a Geek vs. Cow showdown for ultimate control of the planet, but once we lure all the pirates and ninjas in with our huge dairy stock, we'll win fo' shizzle. -

Re:RIA, the next NEW thing?
Cross platform Javascript/CSS is possible - just not terribly easy. I made a game of life in Javascript/CSS that works in all the major browsers with no browser checking code.
-
Re:But what new models are missing from his essay?
And of course taxi-oriented programming.
:-) -
Icky. Browser checks.
It'd have been much more impressive if he had done this without any browser checks. It's hard, but frequently it can be done. I recently hacked together the Game of Life using Javascript and CSS and no browser detection tricks. It works on Mozilla, IE, Safari, and Opera (the latest versions, anyway). I just wish it wasn't so slow. Ah well. Ya win some, ya lose some...

Gross oversight!
How could they possibly miss my two languages? COW is a revolutionary system allowing for easy entry of bovines to the computer industry. There is a clear human bias in the list presented here.
There's also Whirl which was designed as an advanced and modern Java replacement.
I don't see why these two critical and important languages weren't included. I feel shocked and saddened by the dreadfully low academic standards represented here. Shocked, I tell you. -

New programming language.
Well this is the perfect application of my COW programming language! It should run like.. umm.. some really fast thing!
-
Why do ants get all the press?
The cow has all sorts of natural patterns that could aid us. Or what about chickens? We wouldn't want to forget about the utility of pecking at problems until they go away, would we?

Jiggle
I know this discussion topic is pretty much dead by now... But I'm working on a project I call Jiggle which (currently) merges JavaScript with OpenGL. Eventually I want to turn it into a powerful game/toy development enviroment for beginner-types.

Here it is in COW.
A friend of mine wrote 99 bottles of beer in my COW language. It is an interesting sight to behold.

This language is clearly the next big thing!
