Re: HTML5 slow and bloated as Flash
It already is. Check out OK GO's new gimmicky HTML5 website experiment slash music video and watch it bring your system to its knees. http://www.allisnotlo.st/
Oh, only runs on Chrome too even though it "claims" to be HTML5 (meaning standards-compliant, meaning can run on Opera and Firefox -> I suspect these browsers can run it, except that the lazy devs hardcoded Chrome checks into it).
Check out Bjork's new funky HTML5 site too:
http://bjork.com/
I pity the foo who tries to run that on a 600MHz machine.
HTML5 is actually slower and more bloated than Flash. The problem with Flash is not the runtime, it's the abusive content creators who don't know how to optimize content and leave you with massive preloaders, etc. (Looking at you, bloated Nike Sites!)
To see what I'm talking about how slow & bloated HTML5 is, check out Iain Lobb's Bunnymark benchmarking experiment and compare:
* the HTML5 version -> http://iainlobb.com/bunnies/bunnies.html
* with the Flash version -> http://blog.iainlobb.com/2010/11/display-list-vs-blitting-results.html
Almost everything you see being done in HTML5 today is something that's been done in Flash from 5-8 years ago. So, "the future" is actually pretty meh, retro. Oh, and am already hating HTML5/JS/CSS3 with the now unblockable obnoxious floating banner ads. At least with Flash, you can Flashblock em easily. -
Re:In further news...
Possibly true, but Human Behavior is pretty cool, in a trippy, vaguely menacing way.

Re:I DON'T CARE -- I BUY MUSIC LATELYThose copies of telegram are NOT new. They may be "like new" or they may even be "old but never opened" (although I don't know how). Go to her website and look around - it's not even in her discography.
So, please explain to us all how me shelling out even six bucks for a USED CD that's not even in release anymore generates income for Bjork? It's not as if she's signing them and shipping them out herself. So far as "five great p2p only artists" that's easy. I already named a few... let's do it again.
Linda (Rusia)
Creatures (GB/France) Sultana (Turkey)
Hi-Fi (Russia)
Control Machete (Mex)
Banco Da Gaia (GB)
Native Tongue (US?)
I can name more if you like. Many of these are actually ON labels in their native countries but are unavailable - or very nearly so - internationally. Others you may find in a store but first existed online outside "the machine" before being picked up for meatspace distribution. A couple absolutely are NOT available anywhere except at one of their shows or via downloads or purchase from the web. And ALL of them came to my attention via usenet - from shopping "point and click" at easynews and discovering I liked what I heard.
Don't forget that high quality downloads from MANY of these artists are available via their own websites. Not ALL artists see music downloads as a threat to their ability to earn income from performing.
BTW Moloko can be had via their website as well - apparently this has also changed since last ( ~2mo ago) I looked. $20 or so will get you a CD signed by Roison, which seems like a fair enough deal. Now if Neil Young would setup a tip jar it would all be great...

Re:These shorts and unknown productions...
Streaming Bjork video is available from here (links at the bottom). Doesn't seem to work for me though, probably due to my sucky PC at work.

Re:Obligatory Crossover post for Linux users.
Way OT I know, but I have to ask, what the Hell is a banned Bjork film clip? Are you talking about a Bjork music video?
Yeah, in Australia we use the term `film clip' to descibe what USA folk call `music videos'.
The film clip for Pagan Poetry has been banned from most of the video clip shows because it shows Blork wearing a dress made from pearls which have been threaded through and beneath the skin on her back, including the act of piercing her skin and pushing the pearls through.
Its actually quite a bit more pleasant than that and its quite interesting to watch - check out her website
