Re: Completely True
lgw selectively quoted pseudofrog thusly:
reactions that based on some reactionary ideology that's far from uncommon online (The Force Awakens sucks because a lady with latent Force powers beat up a couple of guys with a space stick).
He then responded to that assertion by opining:
You know, I'm not sure anyone actually believed that. I think it's entirely a contrived excuse, or so oversimplified as to be wrong.
No. No, it's really not.
While The Last Jedi was still in theaters, some unemployed basement-dweller spent considerable effort to create a de-feminized fanedit of the movie.
If you're still determined to defend your thesis, you might first want to visit the Reddit discussion page about what has come to be known as the Chauvinist Cut. Or you could "treat" yourself to mundanemike's fawning SJWs lose their mind over THE LAST JEDI: THE DE-FEMINIZED FANEDIT review of the CC (the Youtube version is the same video he posted to the Daily Caller website, btw). Be sure to at least read the commments that other incels have posted praising his review's "takedown" of SJWs.
I could cite a Godzillion examples of similar foaming, reactionary rants about the original movie, the Chauvinist Cut, and the campaign to downvote it on Rotten Tomatoes, but all you really need as evidence is Bleedingcool's 2017 story about the Facebook troll who claimed to have written a bot he used to massively downvote The Last Jedi on RT to understand that your skepticism is baseless.
Not to mention naive

Re:You want to see immature trolls...
So just how well do you think Blank Panther would have fared with "immature trolls"
They actually did try to do the same thing to Black Panther that they're trying to do to Captain Marvel now. They just failed.

Re:SJW Marvel
By "Female Thor" do you mean Jane Foster https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jane_Foster_(comics) or do you mean Thor Girl https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thor_Girl? Since Thor Girl was from the early 2000s I'm guessing you mean Foster, although that does a good job by itself showing that female versions of Thor aren't some miraculous recent thing. The current "Mighty Thor" comic does focus on Foster http://marvel.com/comics/series/20527/mighty_thor_2015_-_present, but there are two problems with that argument. First, Thor Odinson is still a major character in other Marvel lines including Secret Empire https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secret_Empire_(comics), and second while Mighty Thor has sold poorly, so have many other Marvel titles, including some very long-running ones. In that regard the "Mighty Thor" comic is about middle of the pack; hardly what one would expect if it were so bad it would be dragging everything else down.
As for the Iron Man, since you specified black *female* Iron Man, I presume you mean Riri Williams, since a black male Iron Man was done about 20 years ago https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/War_Machine#The_all_new_Iron_Man as James Rhodes (before he got his own War Machine title). It is true that the Riri Williams Iron Man has sold poorly and had negative reviews, but those reviews have focused on poor story writing, poor drawing and poor editing. See for example https://www.bleedingcool.com/2017/08/24/generations-iron-man-ironheart-1-review/ and has little to do with Riri Williams as a character (although I'll certainly volunteer that she does come across as a Mary Sue).
So where is the evidence that any of these characters have failed due to being "forced diversity versions"?

Re:eye of the beholder
This isn't related to the topic at hand, but relates to your statement: "There are people out there that will pay real money for a virtual shield in a video game" You missed it last weekend. (So did I.) $13k Worth Of Damage Done In âEve Onlineâ(TM) Annual âoeBurn Jitaâ Event That's not virtual money, that's US Dollars. Virtual money was 5 Quintilian-Billion Venezuelan bolÃvars (actually 700 billion ISKs), but you can actually buy it with dollars. BitCoin too, I'm sure.
It's the annual "Burn Jita" event. Apparently all in-game items have to be manufactured and physically shipped around and collected. [OMG -- there's actually someone that does bookkeeping on their own personal time for FUN?] Jita is the largest (by far) physical marketplace hub. In-game security (CONCORD) is high there I guess, but just like a real police force isn't instantaneous, There are people (500 of them) who for whatever reason (RTFM earlier link) want to "cause as much havoc inside of Hisec for fun, and for profit". And they do.
I guess since the only thing you can actually truly lose is your account (and you could just go make another) they want to "paint the town Red", as it were. That, and the excitement of resource management, reaction time, adrenaline, and notoriety. Oh and faking out real people with false information.
And never mind the money ($26 per person, that's a movie and popcorn) but all of the time involved in setting up and executing... -
Re:One Must Fall 2097
Space aircraft carrier is Robotech, specifically the Super Dimension Fortress -1. People who are more into anime than I am refer to it as Macross.
Thanks. Many many hazy childhood memories can be nicely described in this guide I found.
Giant robots have been around a long time, and many of us remember the initial shows from when we were kids but can't quite dredge up the specifics.
Might need to visit the local anime store sometime soon now that I have some fresh names to refer to and look for.

How to build a fanbase
This article claims that Kickstarter is for studios that have "an already installed fanbase". How should a startup indie game studio build that first? If by building a substantial game or two and releasing it to the public without charge, then how should the studio find the funds to do that?

Superman Anyone?
Reminds me of the Superman rights/trademark issue. Where he has to be trademarked in every domain (comics, movies, clothing, toys, etc...). PC machines vs OS. And yes, sometimes it creates stupid scenarios such as this. A nd, with Superman, sounds like DC/WB have their hands full now (well, the specific issue at hand has been going on a while). Possible scenarios are say the original creators controlling his looks, DC controlling the name. From a forum (so salt and all that):
*The blue and white, electrically-powered Superman of the 1990s was created for precisely this reason. In case the families won the rights to the intellectual property of Superman, they would have to change Superman's look and powers. So the electrical Superman was created as a back-up in case this happened, because DC would still own his name but not his image.
*The names Superman and Superboy, or the Superman costume have never been used in the Smallville TV series.
*Superboy was killed off in Infinite Crisis, and Superboy Prime was re-named Superman Prime. This happened at a time when a ruling against DC made it look like they would lose the Superboy copyright.

Re:WTF?
Wizard World conventions are carnivals. Avoid at all costs.
Comics columnist Rich Johnston was there, and asked The Blag about him being at a "comic con": whether it was because he saw a future for himself as a "comic" or as a "con". The Blag caught the joke, and laughed it off, apparently still certain of his own invulnerability.
