Thedifference between Sony and Sony
> Atleast Sony only puts root kits on their customers computers, which can cause

Do not confuse Sony Computer Entertainment with Sony BMG Music Entertainment (which, by the way, is only 50% owned by Sony).
This will be even more ludicrous than blaming Microsoft Research for the latest IE exploit. -

BMG is starting to get it...
The Bertelsman Music Group (BMG is now starting to get it: in Hollland, they will start selling "budget" CDs, that cost only EUR 10,- per copy. On the other hand, they have no nice booklet; the contents are just printed on the disk.
The above only goes for Dutch music in Holland (and German music in Germany). International CDs will go down to EUR 13,-.
Slowly, they are starting to get it. Just wait...

Re:Bad link
the link leads to an ad, not an article
I'm not sure what the link leads to. Under Phoenix, got an infinite loop of
GET http://www.slushfactory.com/content/EpuFukEpAFFjrI oYJF.php HTTP/1.0
GET http://www.slushfactory.com/takeoverAd.html?http:/ /www.slushfactory.com/content/EpuFukEpAFFjrIoYJF.p hp HTTP/1.0
GET http://mediamgr.ugo.com/html.ng/size=300x250&affil iate=slushfactory&channel=filmtv&subchannel=alsopl aying&Network=affiliates&rating=pg13 HTTP/1.0
Under Internet Explorer, it didn't appear to loop, but stuck at the takeoverAd.html page.
So I never saw the great creative efforts of these idiots, because they were more concerned about "managing" my web experience, sticking a cookie on my machine, or -- if takeoverAd is wahta I suspect it is -- capturing me on a "sticky" page where each time I hit the back button, I get a page that redirects me forward.
This problem isn't limted to these Picassos of comix art: I visted BMG.com today, on a tip from a friend, thinking I might buy a $160.00 set of Gilbert & Sullivan DVDs. The page looks lovely, dark and artsy, but there's no indication of home to search it or use it in any way -- unless it's via javascript and cookies, which I block. Net result: no $160.00 sale, BMG. But your site sure is cute.
I also spent over thirty minutes searching Verizon's site, trying to find tech support's number. Naturally, Verizon is too cool to actually list phone numbers; no, instead there are drop down lists, javascript and cgi and cookies -- again, I had to imcommodate myself to continue in a customer relationship I already have with Verizon. I am noe considering my otyer ISP options.
Beware being so cool nobody can understand you, or figure out how to tell you you're being an ass. -
In other news....
...hundreds of lower middle class whities with no discernable taste all across the u.s.commit suicide after finding out that their Whitney Houston, Ace of Base, Air Supply, Yaani, Ponter Sisters and Robyn re-issues won't play on their Emerson ghetto. President George W. Bush , commenting on the tragedy, calls it a "terrorist ploy to destroy the confidence of the Republican voter" while pretty much everyone else with an ounce of discrimination labeled it a "victory"

Re:Dear Taco,
"So everyone, stop hammering the SSH site and give the RIAA [riaa.org] the affection they so sorely need."
It's already 403ed, so there's no fun in /.ing them any more. Instead, I'm going to go for the throat by visiting Sony and BMG and any other RIAA members I can think of.
And maybe we should all pay a visit to Fritz Hollings' website while we're at it so he too can feel the love. -
Gone Fishing
How long will it be now that Napster has commercialized itself, that it'll end up on F*ckdCompany. Does anyone even use Napster anymore last I checked most of my friends were ditching it after lenghty complaints of not being able to access songs the way they once did.
According to the prior posting here as well which states most Napster (l)users actually purchased more music, do folks over at BMG still make it to be the devils tool or are they hoping to ride the coattails and make up the money I forsee them losing?
What was Metallica's final view on it after all the hooplah they caused? I haven't read much about the mention of the two after trials either. Do they see it as a good thing now that royalties may be heading down the way or did commercialism butter their attitude and bring forth Napster in a whole new light?
