Way ahead of you. There are lots of people who actively avoid Sony products and I have been a member of that crowd for a very long time for reasons dating back more than 10 years. However, perhaps there needs to be a more organized "boycott Sony" meeting place or at least a list of complaints against Sony, alternative/recommended products and tips on how to better deal with Sony or sometimes screw with them in larger numbers.

I even went to the bother of giving the EFF, Sony, and "independent 3rd pary verification" the benefit of the doubt that they wouldn't frick things up AGAIN after their XCP DRM patch hole. Now I have to update my blog to say the MediaMax patch is hosed.

Some interesting info was brought to my attention today by http://www.glynhotz.com/ the lawyer in Ontario suing Sony over XCP for consumers in Canada. EMI issued a recall on a DRM infected CD, on October 6, shortly after Sony was notified of the rootkit in their XCP CDs.

Any one care to investigate this further?

A New lawsuit for Candians is being opened by http://www.glynhotz.com/ an Ontario lawyer. The XCP CDs appear to still be on many store shelves, more than a week after the recall was announced in Canada.

Tim from http://www.boycottsony.us/ was the guest on the radio program, and he did a fine job of convincing the radio host John Gormley how bad this DRM infection is. If all technical people were as gifted verbally as Tim is, then we'd see a lot fewer problems from companies trying to exploit consumer ignorance.

I just found the website claiming to lead the charge http://www.boycottsony.us/ in the boycott.

I've been including information I think is important about the Sony case on my blog too since the story broke, but other sites have much more detail. I just try to break it down so the average joe knows what's going on if their brain turns off at acronyms like DRM.

Thanks, I'm glad others are thinking the same way I am now. I *have* actually decided that I will make a conscious effort never to buy Sony products again (adds to list).

Another reason not to buy a Sony VAIO laptop running SCO Xenix, pre-bundled with Adobe software...
