Re:White balance and contrast in camera.
You're mistaken. The proper point to look at searching for white reference is in lower left part of the image - there's a part of some other, clearly black and white dress visible, and it has obvious orange - not blue - tint. Also, it's not hard to find other pictures of the same dress. There's also somewhere a confirmation of the taker of that photo saying that this dress is obviously blue and black. https://gs1.wac.edgecastcdn.ne... http://s3-ec.buzzfed.com/stati...

Unreliability of your perception of things you see
If you look at one of those Internet compilations of Photos you really need to look at to understand, it is very impressive just how confused you can be by chance juxtapositions of visual elements.
#18 is particularly interesting. It's not a precise juxtaposition. The shadow looks like the shadow of a flag; it's not shaped like the rug. You can understand intellectually what's happening in about five seconds. And yet it takes a real effort of will to perceive the rug is lying on the sand. Relax for an instant and it once again looks as if it is levitating.

Re:Cheaper
This might put things into perspective. I'm not terribly familiar with your population densities, but I'd wager a lot of your travel is in a relatively small area. This doesn't show Alaska and Hawaii either. Hawaii isn't size though but distance, so I doubt you need to see that - but Alaska is also huge.

Re:Love reading about it
International police? No, this is a job for the CYBER POLICE!
You should point them to the proper authorities and tell them you'll be waiting with your wrists out

Re:Showing ads to thieves
File sharers tend to spend a lot of money on legal content as well actually. There are other reasons for pirating (eg, LAN play in SC II) and avoiding viruses, rootkits and malware packaged with legal copies of modern games.
So pirated material doesn't include viruses, rootkits or malware?
As to your misuse of the word "theft" to refer to sharing, see this handy guide: http://s3-ec.buzzfed.com/static/imagebuzz/2008/8/27/12/27311d2d7c84e8f3e3f5036ed08d198b.jpg
Sure but that doesn't make it OK.

Re:Not Surprise for MegaUpload
Note that Dotcom is not originally New Zealander. Countries sometimes refuse to extradite people born in their country, but such usually isn't the case with foreign nationals.
And I'm pretty surprised you would support him either, especially when you slashdotters usually talk about the media executives wanting to grab lots of money and live great life with yaches and other things. Does his house and parties look like he was a honest guy wanting common good? What about the cars with license plates like "GOD", "GUILTY", "HACKER," "MAFIA," and "STONED"? Or his past convictions of inside trading and criminal hacking? -
Re:Idiocy...
And there are a great many modern game designs that don't have enough meat on them because the content/quality bar has been pushed so low to appeal to the lowest common denominator. That seems to be the prevalent trend. e.g. where are the turn based RPGs where you make your own party? What happened to FPSs with maps of any degree of complexity?
If anything modern games have fewer novel ideas, simply because it's all been tried before. Back in the 80s and early 90s there was so much new ground to tread. People tried things they wouldn't today. New games rehash (a banal subset of) old ideas, and throw a new coat of paint over it. Hell with that, I'd rather play something classic.

Re:Let see if we got this straight.
If it makes you feel any better, Zuckerberg doesn't get laid. He has a Chinese girlfriend who has more than a few extra pounds, and who is not particularly attractive. Obviously, he is a nerd who just wants a submissive Asian woman to serve him. Didn't he have any racism sensitivity courses at Harvard? Look at this photo of the couple. Ugh.
