Re:Carly FiorinaSince HP bought Compaq, both have suffered. The sum is much less than its parts.
As mentioned earlier, their printers and Compaq's servers were the best things they offered, but quality has decreased the past few years.
Unfortunately, neglecting its best products is part of its new business strategy. HP is hoping to make most of its money in services (like IBM does).
While Ms. Fiorina takes in record compensation, HP has cut many US-based engineers, out-sourced some jobs -- as a cost-cutting measure, of course. (You can bet former employees are really pissed.)
For all that, blame Carly Fiorina. She has pushed for cost savings that have decreased product quality, lowered customer satisfaction and customer service, hurt employee morale, and even angered many shareholders.
She mentioned that no job was safe from out-sourcing. Really? Then out-source her position and save HP millions of dollars per year.
If HP had not bought Compaq, many people believe both companies would be more successful than after the merger. But greed got the better of rational business decisions. William Packard was right. HP (and especially Carly Fiorina) screwed up.

Carly Fiorina
Seems like the joint's gone downhill ever since Perens left.
The joint started going downhill when Carly Fiorina took over. -

Michael Shumacher Personally Tested This Laptop ..
or maybe it was just some nerd browsing the internet at Mugello. Either way, I'd take one, and anyway, there's only a few weeks left before the F1 Season starts. Race fans amuse yourself here For Race Fans

Re:Huh.The problem is with this huge networks. Bring back the days of the local BBS. An interesting article on the glory days of the BBS is here: Bring back the BBS
Those communities are harder to penetrate, and are much more diverse than a few large group sharing networks. What do you think?

Re:Nothing to see here
I read this stuff a little while back and actually wrote an article about it. Basically the guy IS a kook. I've had plenty of friends like this. They try to talk over everyones head and since nobody knows what they're talking about, they assume my friends are smart. My friends are idiots though and just babble about crap, and will even admit it when cornered. What a joke!

Use Vivisimo.com instead ...I was one of the first people to use google years back when it first came out, and it was better than anything else out at the time (in my opinion). It is difficult to get ranked on google anymore, but I'm managed to get a front page display for my website www.cgff.net but it's been a lot of work.
The next latest and greatest craze, in my humble opinion is Vivisimo.com, except it's not an easy word to remember at first. It's a great search engine though, it not only ranks pages, but breaks them apart in groups so when you're doing a search for something, you don't get 5000 pages of porn before the topic you're looking for actually shows up. Give vivisimo a try and get the word out to your friends as a viable alternative to searching.

Consoles & Famous Marriages ...I would have to say that Xbox is the best console that I've had, and I've had quite a few. Intellivision was my first, anybody remember that? I used to love playing baseball and sea battle. I still feel like firing the thing up once in a while. I got burned with the 3D0, it was expensive but we got it anyway. It had some great games and looked promising for the future when 3D0 decided to dump the console and concentrate on games (or some damned excuse like that). I was left holding the bag. The next one we got was the N64. You can't go wrong with Nintendo, they support their user base. I still play my N64 all the time. Quake and Bond are great shooters. Lastly, we got the Xbox. I got this one because at the time I believed that Microsoft was going to be a player, and they weren't going to dump out of the market after a year or two and leave me stuck again with an unsupported platform. I can say I'm happy with that so far, and if recent rumors are true, they may drop the price of the Xbox to $99 by year end. How can you beat that? Sure, they're losing money, but Microsoft hasn't planned to turn a profit with Xbox for the first few years of operation.
And in other game related news, famed game developer John Romero (37) marries his hot looking 18 year old girlfriend. You gotta believe his 15 year old teenage son has got to be bummed about that one. Here's more on the wedding: The Happy Couple

Let's be honest with each other, Linux Sucks ....I mean, it doesn't suck, it's ok, but for serious work, it's just not there yet. I've tried every version I could find, and I haven't been happy with a single one of them. I can't even cut and paste from one application to another. What's up with that? It's got a long way to go. Hotbeef the Comic shares my dilema in his comic "Hotbeef discovers Linux" seen here -> Hotbeef Comic Strips

The REAL wardrobe malfunction ........
I think the real wardrobe malfunction is both cups didn't tear away as he yanked them off. Only one came off, thus the malfunction. 50% failure rate in the tearaway bustier.
For a more revealing and indepth analysis of the malfunction, including close up photos visit AHK Research Group
And I'm with the other guy who said he was deeply offended that she tore her top off AND was wearing a pasty! Pasty's are my ASS!

Tivo Technology
When I bought my Tivo for direct tv, my wife said "why are you wasting your money on that crap, what's wrong with just watching tv?" Now, guess who uses it most of all? Tivo is the most incredible technology for those who watch tv. It records all of my favorite show so I don't have to interupt whatever I'm doing and I can watch TV when I choose. I can also fast forward through the commercials, which is what the networks REALLY hate. Gives me more time to work on my cartoon drawing: Comics
