    Parent a bit heavy-handed but I think the troll mod is unfair since the article romanticizes long-haul trucking.

    Truckin' is still a dirty and unsafe business. BTW, the "retread" parent is referring to is the practice of dremelling new grooves into balding tires(which is legal if the tire was designed for it, but is often done unsafely and illegally, like much truck maintenance).

    Well, I don't know if they can be "hacked", but there is a TV show on CMT network dedicated to "tricking them out" in high-fashion style with bling.

    How? I was just poking around their site and can't find anyway to contact the artists directly; all there is is a .cgi form that reports back to Sony corporate.

    Also, someone should join their bboard and let the fans there know, too. (I just can't bring myself to join a country music board though ::shudder:: ;)

    Now my hardware will force me to support CMT on my computer? This is as bad as DRM.
    Hmm... maybe the CMT and DRM will cooperate?

    First, the BIOS will download and play CMT stuff. (It would need a microphone to verify that it was played load enough.)

    After a while, the CMT will tell the DRM in your computer about your criminal behaviour!

    I wonder if the DRM will print the lawsuit on your own printer or send off an email so you get it by snailmail?

    Or maybe the DRM will just demand your credit card number -- or kill all the data on your hard disk?

    I wish I could add a ":-)" here.

    Although it's a cool question, I doubt this one will make the cut. Copyright law is a federal issue, not a state issue.

    Contract law, on the other hand, is indeed written at the state level. In September 2001, artists from Courtney Love to LeeAnn Rimes testified in Sacramento about artists' rights issues. Also in the state capitol that day were the Dixie Chicks, before they became a hot political topic for other reasons.
