Re:No linux client from google
Copy.com has a nice native Linux sync client like Dropbox, only faster. More free space than Google drive or Dropbox
-
Re:I seem to remember...
Copy startsout at 25G has Linux support, and syncs a lot faster with less systemload than Dropbox.

Re: Big deal
I see an "Allow local peer discovery and syncing" checkbox so it's not missing LAN sync. For my use cases delta sync and two step authentication aren't useful.
So here's another shameless referral link: https://copy.com?r=pEmm98.
Note that I just signed up so I'm more deserving of the 5 Gb bonuses than the guys above who already have terabytes of storage :pFunny, I was going to pay for Dropbox the moment they dropped prices to google drive levels. But they seem to have lost the opportunity now. Don't you like this thing called "competition"?

Re:Big deal
Copy is good, sync works well. I'm up to 2.8TB of free space from referrals in one account of mine, and 600GB in another. In terms of free-for-life space (supposedly) that's pretty rad.
Two complaints:
1. Their iOS app is a bit lacking. It can't play audio files in the background, so when you switch apps your music stops playing which is annoying. Dropbox for iOS continues streaming the music in the background.
2. It doesn't seem super fast, maybe because I only have a free account. I rarely see syncs top 1MB/sec, even though both computers I sync to regularly are on fast lines (100/10 for one of them, and 50/25 for the other). Still, it's free, so... (and to be fair: I've never closely looked at how fast dropbox xfers and I've largely replaced it with Copy).Oh, here, my 5GB referral code (gives both of us 5GB). Let's see if I can get up to 1PB, shall we?

Big deal
Copy has been offering 15GB free for a long time now, plus 5GB extra for each referral up to INFINITY.

Re:It's a pity
Try Copy. It's cheap and you get a lot of free storage for referring people.
You forgot to say "Tell em umafuckit sent you!".
Oh, fuck, you're right. Yes, tell them that in this manner and you get 5 gigs extra space. As a pleasing side-effect, so do I.

Re:other suggestions?
I am always on the lookout for cloud storage my current list from best to worst with their respective pros and cons are (*Based on what I have seen & most of my computers run linux so its a major part of my list)
1. Copy.com - Most free storage 15 gb, works with every environment, Integrates acceptably with linux, Most generous with new free space for referrals (+5 gb for both parties). I have not yet witnessed how it handles conflicting copies of a file. On that note If anyone wants a copy account we both get an extra 5 gigs if you follow my referral link https://copy.com?r=9frCDJ
2. Dropbox - Great handling of conflicting copies, works with every environment, great linux integration, lowest storage space and lowest storage space per referral. Great handling of conflicted copies.
3. Spideroak - Great linux integration, great encryption, No online viewing of files (due to the encryption) great linux integration 4. Box - great free space, none existent linux integration, no conflict checking/ history for free version. It ate many of my important school files because of this. 5. There are also Google drive and microsoft Onedrive but I have no experience with them.
To sum up, right now My favorite is copy.com due to copious amounts for free space and Linux intigration. Hope that helps -
I've got 240+ GB at copy.com, for $0 a month
... because of referrals. https://copy.com?r=Zv8zHi

Copy.com
I would suggest Copy.com since unlike Dropbox they don't claim ownership of your files. I realize that the original poster wanted a local fix, but if you want easy the Android client works. If you haven't heard of Copy, it is basically a Dropbox service that is giving away 15GB free for signing up (20 GB if you use a referral link like this one https://copy.com?r=EOFh2o

Copy
I'm not sure if it is "zero-knowledge" or just "little-knowledge" (file meta-data might be transmitted. I honestly don't know), but I've had very good luck with Copy, which was created by Barracuda (the company that's always advertising in airports, for some reason). Check them out: https://www1.copy.com/home/
