If the press really wanted to understand the Occupy movement, it wouldn't just stand back and complain that the movement is not producing a manifesto.

What? It's been published for a very long time. Calling the Occupy movement "leaderless" or rudderless is a fairly bold-faced lie given this, and when their playbook is widely disseminated .

Just as other churches did. Many of those Christians who burned people on stakes were not Catholics. The Anglican church of England most definitely isn't Catholic but it persecuted others. The Puritans or Pilgrims came to America to escape persecution. Here's a link to a Library of Congress page about America as a refuge for those Christians from one church who were persecuted by Christians from other denominations. King James I "persecuted both Catholics and the extreme Protestant Puritans and Separatists." Yet when the Puritans set up the Massachusetts Bay Colony they in turn persecuted those not of their own church.

So, are you going to admit the truth or are you going to continue to persecute Catholics?

I think you mean Hegel's dialectic, not Kant's. And, while Marx did use Hegel's dialectic, he famously claimed it's "standing on its head".

Huh. Actually, it looks like "Full Armor" is one of those "sneak in bible lessons" kind of places..."Full Armor" is probably a biblical reference to the "Full Armor of God": Ephesians 6:10-18, "Manna" is a biblical miracle food, etc. I'm not going to download anythin further to confirm that.

I've seen the flick: I agree with Taco, it was pretty damned good. I've read the first three books, and and 3/4 of the way through the 4th. I see no mention of Satan or Satanism, but do see the occaisional mention of the Dark Arts, against which Defense is taught. It's a classic good-guys versus bad guys bit: these anti-Potter funadmentalist have really gone out on the edge.

Hypothesis: Harry Potter gets kids reading things other than the Bible and Christian-with-a-Capital-C approved books, the sort of thing that Landover Baptist parodies. . .except these people aren't joking. It allows kids to free up their minds and imaginations, and has kids actually ENJOYING themselves. . . and we can't have that, can we ? Having dealt with some of these yahoos, it's amazing what they consider logical and what they consider proof. . . this is often the same gang that talks about "Evil-ution". . . .
