Re:rs
Hey... http://www.dailyrotation.com/ is still out there....

Re:Florian is not a blogger, he is a troll
I'd say OSNews is pretty nice, but since it has a small community you won't get 300 comment threads there (but no shit eater and nigger trolls for the most part, gotta look on the bright side) and if you only want to browse the headlines so as to avoid troll articles in the future then Daily Rotation lets you customize the headlines towards your interests. I have mine set for science, new tech gear, Windows gadgets and freeware, and the basic headlines.

Re:Old News Is Old
Yes but you can in this case have your cake and eat it too. Just go to Daily Rotation, make an account (If you want to have your settings saved and be able to access from more than 1 PC), choose which sites and headlines you care about, add any sites not listed with the handy "add site" at the bottom, hit save, and voila! All the major and minor sites headlines, all served up to you on a single page.
I find it a whole lot easier to have all the sites I like including
/. all on a single page. With all the cool new tech coming out it is hard to keep up otherwise, at least for me. Give it a try, I bet you'll like it. -
dailyrotation.com

You can pick and choose which sites you want to see headlines from. I've had the site bookmarked and/or homepage for a many years. -
Have you seen Daily Rotation?
The Daily Rotation is a headline site. It can also be customized.

Re:Just what the world needs.
DailyRotation is a good example of this, just set it up to display ALL feeds and you won't know where to start...
I'm hopelessly addicted. -
How many?
I've been using http://dailyrotation.com/ for quite a while now, and they've had lots of sites for quite a while as well. "Quite a while" in this case seems to be years. Does anyone else have any recollections?

Headlines
When I saw the headline "Ubisoft to Drop Starforce" for this on http://www.dailyrotation.com/ I thought that it meant a game project had been canceled.

Re:Why use RSS
My use for IM
1. I can take time to think before typing, and the other person won't wonder why I'm not talking to them.
2. If I want to recall exactly what was said (and not what I thought was said, BOOM, it's right there.
I don't use RSS directly, but I use http://www.dailyrotation.com/ which uses RSS on the back end. (the www is significant though as its use of cookies has proven a little buggy without it). -
Re:thanks...
uh.. that's DAILY ROTATION

Daily Rotation
I think this is what you are looking for. It is customizable with new feeds being added continuosly. It does not require you to sign or register. Your feed preferences are stored in a cookie.
Daily Rotation
I wish Slashdot had a this so that when I am done with slashdot, I can go to another tab where I can get a list of new headlines based on my subscriptions. I don't like the boxes, it clutters up the manin page. -

Sorry for replying to myself, but I thought I should point out Daily Rotation as well.
It's not a program, but rather a website. It pulls headlines from 250+ tech-related sites, not all of which have RSS feeds.

Re: Best Alternative
Well, OK--here's my portal for geeks. Right now we're running 108 sets of geek headlines (you choose which ones you want to see), and other features, such as an anonymous surfing module, google's all-the-bells-and-whistles searches, and more. It's called DAILY ROTATION
