Medica-- vs $250 vs DIY
...or you can pay the $250 out of pocket too. Most are probably in the same boat either way for decent medical care.
One resource that we have gotten tremendous mileage out of is the higher potency forms of DIY natural medicine. An intro version is here, medical and scientific papers direct for the advanced stuff. IRL, I had lots of experimental chemistry and biology too. -
Good news: selenium and HIV.
"Some virologists suggest the virus may eventually become "almost harmless" as it continues to evolve"
It would be harmless if the virus did not encode for a homologue of the human lipid peroxidase inhibitor glutathione peroxidase. See Keshen's disease (China).
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/K...
What they say might be happening but what *also* would explain that (and they did not check, a simple serum selenium test would differentiate) is:
Bloomberg news 2013:
"... selenium for two years were able to delay their need for antiretroviral therapies by about half compared with those given a placebo, according to research published in the Journal of the American Medical Association. The study followed 878 HIV-infected adults from Botswana, a nation with one of the highest rates of infection of the AIDS virus."
http://www.bloomberg.com/news/...(they need to read Fosters papers, B, C and E boost the immune system but it's Tryptophan, Glutamine and Cysteine that the virus encodes for and strips from the body)

C 'ing the truth

The more severe the virus, higher and more frequent doses used. As support for nasty viral illnesses overseas that have no vaccine, we also take zinc, 50,000 iu of vitamin D3 for 1-2 weeks, lysine and 200-400 mcg selenium. With Ebola, the real question will be when the last chance for a given level of IV vitamin C treatment (gram C/kg wt) 2-3-4 times per day will work, and when it will be too late - too little.
I've already been in a 3rd world situation where people look like over made actors in a sci fi movie with lots and lots of big pustules...and IV vitamin C worked well from the first infusion crusting over in ~8 hours vs 8 more days, over it in several days, so don't yak at me about iffy imagination stuff. However, I believe ignorance and cupidity are mankind's norm. -

Dr. Fred Klenner cured polio with Vitamin C
Although it's little-known outside orthomolecular medicine circles (Linus Pauling and Albert Szent-Györgyi (the discoverer of the Vitamin C/Krebs cycle) were two prominent members of the orthomolecular medicine community), Dr. Fred Klenner successfully cured several many polio patients in the late '40s and early '50s, using megadoses of acsorbic acid (nominally the same as vitamin C). A good number of these were advanced enough that they should have died or at the very least been crippled for life by the disease.
Because Klenner was only a backwoods Southern doctor, his remarkable success was largely overlooked for many years. (He wrote his experiences up and had them published as an article titled ‘Virus Pneumonia and Its Treatment with Vitamin C’ in the Journal of Southern Medicine and Surgery . This was followed up by many other articles over the years, mostly on megavitamin therapy for a variety of diseases, including tuberculosis and multiple sclerosis.

Fasting and Chemotherapy for Cancer
Some top Google results for "fasting cancer chemotherapy": http://www.scientificamerican.com/article.cfm?id=fasting-might-boost-chemo
"Fasting appears to protect normal cells from chemotherapy's toxic effects by rerouting energy from growing and reproducing to internal maintenance. But cancer cells do not undergo this switch to self-repair and so continue to be susceptible to drug-induced damage -- making for what the researchers call a differential stress resistance. Fasting, then, the authors wrote, should enhance the power of chemotherapies without having to resort to "the more typical strategy of increasing the toxicity of drugs.""So fasting during chemotherapy works in part precisely because it protects the chemotherapy patient's normal cells from becoming weakened.
Human trials are starting up:
"Clinical Trials: Short-Term Fasting Before Chemotherapy in Treating Patients With Cancer"
http://clinicaltrials.gov/show/NCT01175837Research by Valter Longo, of the University of South California (USC) in Los Angeles on mice:
"Fasting May Boost Chemo By Weakening Cancer Cells"
http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/241454.php
"He and his colleagues found, for example, that repeated cycles of fasting with chemotherapy cured 1 in 5 mice with a highly aggressive form of children's neuroendocrine cancer, and 40% of mice with a less severe form. In either case, no mice survived when treated only with chemo. For their study, in which they used used cancer cells and mice, Longo and colleagues found that for all the cancers they tested, fasting combined with chemotherapy improved survival, slowed tumor growth and/or limited the spread of tumors. They found that fasting without chemotherapy, slowed the growth of breast cancer, melanoma, glioma and human neuroblastoma. In several cases, fasting was as effective as chemotherapy."Cancer patients looking into it:
"48 hr Fasting before Chemo"
http://csn.cancer.org/node/237518Here are two books related to fasting in general.
One is from a century ago by Upton Sinclair:
http://www.healingcancernaturally.com/fasting-cure-for-health.htmlOne from a decade or two ago by Joel Fuhrman:
http://www.diseaseproof.com/archives/healthy-food-dr-fuhrman-on-fasting.html
"Therapeutic fasting accelerates the healing process and allows the body to recover from serious disease in a dramatically short period of time. In my practice I have seen fasting eliminate lupus and arthritis, remove chronic skin conditions such as psoriasis and eczema, health the digestive tract in patients with ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease, and quickly eliminate cardiovascular diseases such as high blood pressure and angina. In these cases the recoveries were permanent: fasting enabled longtime disease suffers unchain themselves from their multiple toxic dugs and even eliminate the need for surgery, which was recommended to some of them as their only solution."One problem of course in Western Medicine is than an oncologist can't justifying charging, say, $20,000 for telling a potential customer just to stop eating for a bit. Not sure if the source is accurate, but the sentiment probably is:
http://www.doctoryourself.com/longevity.html
"One-quarter of what you eat keeps you alive.
The other three-quarters keeps your doctor alive.
(Hieroglyph found in an ancient Egyptian tomb.) "But ultimately, while fasting can help some people, people need to eat healthier long term. One big problem with people today fasting is that there is so many to

1970s scam, vit C & D on better oddsThis sounds like a retread of Pres. Gerald Ford's better idea - a massive innoculation plan with a dangerous vaccine - linked to deaths, Gulian Barre syndrome, etc. A massive sop to favored pharmas. Was really it really swine flu or swine pharma? The panic mongering in the media finally stopped when the public realized how dangerous the vaccine was and the hyped problem wasn't. I think the govt still spent a fortune.
If you want to improve your odds of staying healthy consider these points: more winter vitamin D for immune function http://www.knowledgeofhealth.com/report.asp?story
= Why%20Flu%20Epidemics%20Occur%20in%20Winter meaningful amounts of vitamin C for symptoms and depletion. http://www.doctoryourself.com/ortho_c.htmlA simple plan B in winter: several "megavitamin" tablets (lots of B, extra others) a day (caution: pregnant ladies watch the amount preformed vit A!) and several 1/2 to 1 gram C tablets/day, as little as $0.25/day. Lots of C at the first tickle. For me, sure beats spin-the-bottle with vaccine or $100 maybe antivirals with side effects. Last time I got "shot" I was sick for over a week. I am lots happier with "Plan B".

why not do something to stop it?
Don't be a Darwin awardee, do something smart, and cheap, to save yourself lots of misery, and save us (taxpayers) lots of unnecessary bills for misdirected medicine. Check these sites, how to prevent and reverse it: http://doctoryourself.com/diabetes.html http://www.mercola.com/2002/apr/10/diabetes.htm Cheap blood glucose tests at the discount stores, say $10-15 for the digital meter, $20-40 for the strips. MRI for diabetes - a gold hammer for slicing the fat out of milk... no wonder we are going broke.
