Re:That's ok...
>>>only ethically bad people use pornography, right?
Wrong. Sex is not "bad" - it's perfectly natural. It includes both bad and good people. - As for the danger I think you should be okay if you stick to safe sites like http://www.domai.com/ or www.google.com which either don't link to other sites, or else filter out the crap (google blocks dangerous sites). And of course keep your NoScript on. Plus Web of Trust (for dual protection).

NUDITY IS NOT PORNOGRAPHY
Judas Priest people. Are you gonna start making pigs wear clothes, and babies cover their nakedness (ohnoes!). "Because God created it, the human body can remain nude and uncovered and preserve intact its splendor and its beauty." - Pope John Paul II
THIS is not pornography: (Although it is not safe for work.) It is Homo sapiens in his natural state. And that is all the wikipedia shows - it does Not display pornography.

Okay by me...
They can filter all the porn they want -- as soon as they can define it: http://www.spectacle.org/296/opt.html (Safe For Work)
(Or, even better, tell me why it's immoral.)
More seriously:
There are some fine lines between art and porn...stuff like: http://konzababy.tripod.com/photography.htm
(?Not?Safe? For?work?) Click the tiny image to enlarge. -- Is this art or porn? (I say art 100%)
Even closer still are things like http://www.domai.com (Not Safe For Work)
See this interview (Not Safe For Work) on domai.com for an interesting dialog about nudes/art/porn. -- Is Domai Porn? Difficult to say (I lean more toward yes, but I have reservations)
Any thoughts? What makes porn ... porn? -

Definitions, definitions...
But what is pornography, really? If you go to Japan, just showing genitalia is considered hard porn (while pissing onto somebody is not), in some Islamic countries showing a woman's hair is unconceivable, for me, there is art in pictures of naked women (e.g. http://domai.com./ You will get loads of different responses wherever you go, and considering that the US and Europe claim to me multi-cultural places, appeasing everybody will be next to impossible, or at the very least will place most of the websites portraying skin on the
.xxx list. This would be alike creating a "Red Light District" on the internet to try and ostracise content and people involved with that. On a local community level, this has (and I have serious doubts on this) marginally worked for millenia, but in the internet, unless we had a uniform culture everywhere on earth (god forbid), with every single internet user agreeing on the definition of every single aspect of society (freedom is irrelevant, self-determination is irrelevant, you must comply, stand down and be assimilated), I would brand this delusional at best. -
Re: DOMAI comment. Was: Sex is natural
I would like to thank h4m0ny for the positive reference to my site DOMAI. As it happens, I had a pithy comment on this matter myself in our latest newsletter: http://domai.com/news/2005/07july-29/index.html (not work safe)

Re:Sex is natural
If everyone involved consents and enjoys that gangbang, it seems okay to me.
People who do this, do it because they are paid to, and in some cases, because they're desperate for some kind of approval or attention. It's not normal. Now if doing this fulfills someone's psychological or sexual needs, then it's their business. But boys shouldn't grow up thinking that women orgasm from giving blow-jobs or they're going to be pretty disappointed with their partners (and their partners might be pretty pissed, too).
The problem is one of context. US society (and UK society to a lesser extent) is deeply repressed on the subject of sex. It's all very closed doors. And oddly enough, this is why so many boys grow up thinking of sex as being something purely physical. The only porn you get is brutal, wham, bam, say thank you ma'am stuff. There's no exposure to sex between two people who love each other.
So, I think that it's the moralising people who surpress normal exposure to sex, nudity and desire that are responsible for guys growing up thinking of it in the way portrayed in porn. Because if it's kept out of normal life, made illicit, then what else do they see but the porn?
I mean - which is going to prepare people for sexual maturity most - (Not work safe) This, or this? Maybe you see sex is just fucking, and hey - it's good exercise - but for most of us, the best sex we'll ever experience is with someone we love. If people want to protect children from corruption, they should let those children know that it's okay and to have sex with someone you love and that it doesn't have to be 8" this, 36DD that and treat the other person like an object.
I seem to have ended up arguing for more sincere and tender porn. Well, why not. It would appeal to a lot of people, I'm sure. But mostly what I am getting at is that US and UK society itself should be more open on the subject of sex.
And then maybe people wouldn't be using it as a sales technique everywhere I look as well. -
Re:If you want the most unique visitors
Simple principle of marketing "Sex sells". Simple principle of the internet "Its full of porn"
I was going to dash off a reply saying that such an entry would violate the TOS, but this is all they got:
"3) Your entry must comply with Datagram's terms of use.
See http://www.datagram.com/acceptable.html for more details. Please refrain from submitting hardcore pornography or illegal content of any kind."
The Datagram.com page looks like the standard "don't break the law, dammit" requirement, and doesn't mention pr0n at all. So other than saying "please" nothing gross, there's nothing to prevent a contestant from building a nice little tribute to someplace like domai.com (NSFW) (and including a referral link). -
Re:On the minds of all slashdotters,
Yes, there is a shortage of *quality* porn on the web. When are these people going to learn that pigtails don't necessarily make you look young.
Have you already seen DOMAI? (NSFW) -
In-flight pr0n
So now you can access http://www.domai.com/ at cruising altitude, excuse yourself to the lavatory, and join the Self-Mile-High Club. Awesome.

Re:It does suck, it does.
I'd like to hear uplifting and affirming stories about good porn, if anyone has 'em.
(First, I'll define the definition of porn I use. "pornography: creative activity (writing or pictures or films etc.) of no literary or artistic value other than to stimulate sexual desire." That's close enough to my idea of what porn is.)
Well, it's not exactly porn by definition, but check out http://www.domai.com/ for some good pictures of nude women. What makes DOMAI so special is that it's not sexual as porn, and it's not abstract as fine art. They try to capture the personality and beauty of the models in the photos, and I'd say they succeed. Looking through other sites that have nudes, it's usually either too sexual or too abstract and just feels cold. Or something.
I could talk about DOMAI for quite a bit longer, but won't bore you with it. They put a new picture on the front page daily, and have a free weekly email newsletter that also contains pictures. The newsletters usually have an article on some related topic, or a story, or a letter someone sent in, or whatever. It's pretty neat.
And now my personal thoughts on porn..
I think porn is good for relieving the tension or urges that build up naturally. I don't get much enjoyment out of it other than that, though. It doesn't really make me happy, or make me feel good to be alive; sometimes just the opposite occurrs. I've usually looked for beauty in the females in porn stuff. (Always have preferred the striptease galleries over videos of actual sexual acts.) But it still gives the feeling of falseness and maybe even shame that explicit videos do. (I'm 17 and have been raised in a primarily conservative christian environment; I've got some ideas that may not be optimal floatng around in my head.) Er.. I've kinda lost where I was going with this point. Basically, porn is okay, but it's mostly false and gives me ideas that are not to my liking. (If you know of any places that offer good, wholesome porn (though I guess then it couldn't be defined as porn), let me know ;))
I am still unsure on my position of whether children should be exposed to sex. I'm pretty sure though, that I'd be veeeery careful with allowing the weird kinky stuff (i.e., 96% of all porn floating around the 'net). But then I'm imposing my opinions on someone who doesn't know better than to trust my opinion as hard truth. Ack, and this is why I'm undecided on this issue. I keep running in circles. Ah, not like I need to worry about it right now anyway. I don't plan on having kids anytime soon. ;)
Hmm, I'm not sure if there was anything else I wanted to say or not. Surely there was. But I need to get off the computer and take a shower. Planning some fun stuff for today: Install a GBA Afterburner light. :D And also, possibly get a Nintendo DS. :D
Hopefully I won't break the GBA in the process of installing the afterburner. That would be a bummer. It's my first mod project though, and I've never even soldered anything before, so who knows? ;)
Ack, I ought to go.
A little information about myself, to show kinda where my views are based on:
Age: 17
Sex/Gender: Male
Status: Virgin, single, geek
Background: Raised in a conservative-ish christian environment. Church of Christ, mostly. Woot. Now am at the point where I'm deciding what my views on certain things are and becoming my own person. (Awww, teh cute little guy is growing up~)
Um yeah, I gotta go. -

Re:Ho hum
DOMAI has been doing this for a long time now.
Granted, it's not quite porn, it fits the bill... -
giga-pr0n
I'm not really into pictures with bullshit site- and phonesex ads on them, but if the web is your choice...
Boobdex.com is a good start.
And I like the amateur pages at Voyeurweb. I get lots of goodness from Coolio's Babelog as well.
You might also spend some quality time at Domai or Kindgirls, which both have much free goodness.
If you're willing to put your money where your mouth is, Hegre-Archives is awesome, as are Quantum Proadult and Met Art. Playboy's CyberClub can keep a downloader busy for weeks.
Hardcore really isn't my area of interest, but holy crap, if you're even making jokes about pr0n, regular slashdotter NineNine has just the site for you
I use scripts to grab most of my smut, but I'd be remiss if I didn't mention the Mozilla extensions Linky and Magpie which combine to make my life as a pr0n browser much more pleasant. -

Re:My thoughts on this
ObSenselessRant: Oh yeah, and Piers Anthony is a dirty old man. "Bio of A Space Tyrant" sucked once he got into the hero having consensual sex with a 12 year old. That coupled with Xanth novels titled "The Color of Her Panties" makes me want to have authorities monitoring his shack in Florida... ]
What? No mention of Anthony's 'Firefly' or 'Pornacopia'? 'The Color of Her Panties', along with the rest of the Xanth novels are very tame unless you are about 8 years old (thanks to the Adult Conspiracy no doubt). There are a couple of pages of 'Firefly' that I would not be surprised to find floating around underaged porn sites.
I suppose there is nothing wrong with being a card-carrying Dirty Old Man, as long as it is in thought rather than action.
The line between writing about this stuff and actually becoming a catholic priest is rather a large one I think. -
