    to convince a friend that his theories on craps gambling were incorrect, i made some simulations software... when i first made it, running 30 sessions worth of simulations would take almost a minute... with the latest chrome beta running on OS X on an intel macbook it's almost instant.

    it contains a lot of random chance and comparisons and stored math... a good test of raw computational ability.

    AI bots have no train of thought

    i made my first topical chatter bot in quickbasic while in high school 15 years ago... it kept track of the last few topics (only about 5 were deeply supported... football and guns were a couple i remember), and then further by subtopic and would first attempt to process a most on topic response before anything else... if anything, AI bots have far superior trains of thought as the "thoughts" they are falling back on are stored digitally with near 0 error rates while humans are often side-tracked and forgetful.

    i have no clue why you assume a computer with billions of bytes of random access memory can not represent a current state of context, and also store all previous states to reprocess whenever new input is acquired to better determine a new current state...

    i included it in a game i made... virtual pimp... if you want to try the chat AI, go into the bar and ask to talk to the bar tender... i think if you tell him that "mike" or maybe "eric" sent you, he'll let you into the back room casino to play slots or video poker or roulette.

    On the plus side, E seems to cost a lot less than other printer ink cartridges. Apparently each refill is only good for 1 night, though. That must be a mistake.

    I just haven't found another gig that pays as well.

    Have you considered becoming a drug dealer? This industry has a relatively quick turnover rate and will certainly need more workers in the near future. If that doesn't work out, you could always be a pimp.

    just curious, i'm a php programmer for a public company, and also create a php online game (edrugtrader.com)... should i serious stop working on the game? the employer already knows about it, and it probably was the reason they hired me. mike
