Re:Falun Gong a spiritual movement ? (in fact)
The Chinese communist party has gone to every length to make the western world consider Falun Gong as strange/dangerous. Is it working? China has a very long history of spiritual teachings from the Buddhist school, and Falun Gong has adhered to non violence in the face of torture/killing for 10 years. I, for one, am ready to support human rights and freedom of belief for anyone who's not harming other people in the process, and Falun Gong has been exemplary in this regard. Look it up.

On the contrary, I agree with you. Look at Iraq.
We have a huge problem with a corporate media telling us what to think (Hi, Rupert), but we do have basic protections like free speech which the government hasn't taken away from us... yet. The Internet makes it wonderfully hard for them to even try it. Sure, right-to-a-speedy-trial and confessions-under-duress are taking a battering now, but thanks to free speech, we've at least got a chance. Your average Chinese doesn't, and I bet they've never heard of these:

Re:^^ Mod Parent Up!
That's not ironic.
In any event, if the poster practices Falun Dafa/Gong then that is their business, and if they would like to tell everyone that it isn't an evil cult as the Chinese authorities propagandize it to be and that it, instead, is a beneficial spiritual practice, then that is that poster's perogative. Unlike China, the United States is a free country and posting that in a forum isn't going to result in the poster getting killed or tortured.
Besides, that quip wasn't part of the message, that was part of the poster's signature. -
Will they treat spammers like Falun Gong members?I'll beleive Communist China is serious about stopping spammers when they start treating them like Falun Gong members. You know, like imprisoning them in forced labor camps and working them to death. Or maybe torturing them. But until they're willing to treat spammers with the same harsh methods the Communist Party reserves for those trying to exercise freedom of religion, I doubt I'll see any reduction of spam in my mailbox.

Now if only the Chinese Goverment would pledge......never to commit genocide against its own people or against Tibetans, then maybe people would give their desires "to clean up" the Internet a little more credence. What China's Communist government wants to clean up the most is its own image, be it genocide, the Tienamen Square crackdown, it's owngoing repression of Falun Gong, or the horrific treatment of political prisoners in the Laogai (aka "China's Gulag"). I'm sure that pornorgraphy is a far lesser concern.

china's persecution applies internationallyWith China's government allegedly undertaking covert operations on Canadian soil, expanding its spy network, and the Canadian Government pressuring the City of Vancouver to take down "display boards depicting the persecution of Falun Gong from in front of the Vancouver Chinese consulate."; I can't help but wonder just how badly a person could be affected by adopting a blog this way.
Just a bit of paranoia to consider.

They better not ad any AI...
or else this robot may learn Falun Gong and they would have to kick its ass.

Re:Falun Gong a dangerous
Falun Gong is not a religion, people of any religion can practice it. Nor is it a political movement, there is no political agenda in the teachings of Falun Gong. It is a cultivation practice which is based on peaceful exercises, meditation, and centres on the cultivation of your heart and mind.
The core principles of Falun Gong are Truth, Benevolence and Compassion, and it has received recognition from world leaders and government representatives as being a great benefit to society, including proclamations from over 300 cities in the US. It's founder Li Hongzhi was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for the last three years.
Some proclamations from world leaders: Proclamations
There are over 70 million practitioners in China alone (the official figure from the Chinese Government), and over 100 million worldwide. Practitioners in China are being persecuted basically because leaders of the communist party became concerned that the number of people practicing Falun Gong outnumbered the members of the Communist party.
In 1999 Falun Gong was outlawed and since then over 100,000 practitioners have been illegally detained and over 400 practitioners have died from torture (official Chinese government figure - the total figure is estimated at ever 1600). Six months ago orders were passed which allowed police officers to shoot a practitioner "on-sight" for putting up a Falun Gong poster in public.
Crimes committed against Falun Gong practitioners include police brutality, illegal detention, illegal sentencing, rape, brutal torture and murder. The following link contains news about the persecution: Falun Info Net
In our countries of freedom and democracy, we should not be celebrating the crimes against a group of people who are attepting to lead lives based on truth, compassion and forbearance. We should not be celebrating crimes of persecution, torture and murder.
I started practising Falun Gong six months ago and have found it to be very beneficial. I am writing this in a hope to shed some light on a poorly understood situation and true human rights crisis.
Kind Regards,
An IT guy and Australian Falun Gong practitioner.
