Re:Retro Apple (Mac) Games for Apple TV
Just a note on a couple of these:
Fool's Errand has a sequel that's been in the making for awhile, but supposedly is getting close to release: http://www.fools-errand.com/
and Dark Castle: http://www.superhappyfunfun.com/games/gam_returntodc.htmlAnd I agree, I would LOVE to see Ancient Art of War resurrected.

Re:Beta Release?
No other OS today will run a program designed for an Operating System 10 years old...
I played through The Fools Errand (1987) about a month ago on MacOS X 10.3 (2004). It ran flawlessly. That's 17 years. Granted it was under the classic environment- but it ran flawlessly alongside Safari (needed hints!). -
One to keep an eye on for 2005
My personal favorite piece of vaporware is currently The Fool and his Money. I pre-ordered in Jan 2003 for a Halloween release, and it keeps getting pushed back, now to mid-2005. The best part, and why this is really a favorite, is that Cliff has always made such good, actual Mac puzzle games that it makes me think the "game" here is actually getting the orders without shipping any software. The very title of the purported release practically mocks you about it! I swear, I get the biggest smile every time I get an email saying there is going to be another delay. Entertainment money well spent, I say. The Phantom Console isn't half as fun when it comes to vaporware gaming!

Cliff Johnson
Cliff Johnson is still working on his excellent puzzle-driven games. He has always (intelligently, in my opinion) kept the graphics and sound simple and out of the way of the real, fiendish puzzles and metapuzzles. You can download the old games, like The Fool's Errand and 3 in Three, from his website; he's even updated them to work on Mac OS X and modern Windows. The second in the Arcanum series (The Fool and His Money) is due out this fall.

Re:LEC doesn't see that...
A case in point would the Fool and his Money the sequel to the Fool's Errand.
I've been waiting for this game for well over a year and it keeps getting delayed. It's merely puzzles and story, yet it's not an easy thing to create.

Easilly... The Fool and his Money.

Re:3 in Three
This will work for a month or so: 3 in Three + Mac emulator demo

Fool's ErrandCliff Johnson recently made all three of his classic Mac puzzle games (Fool's Errand, Puzzle Gallery: At the Carnival, and 3 in Three) available for free on his web site. I highly recommend these games, especially Fool's Errand.
All three work in the Classic environment on OS X. At the Carnival and 3 in Three only work in 256 color mode, Fool's Errand will work with any color settings.

The Fool's Errand
The Fool's Errand is a classic Mac game the author (Cliff Johnson) has made available free of charge. He even has a FreeBSD port.
This is one of the most ingenious and difficult puzzle games ever made. Interestingly, perhaps because it plays out at times like an illustrated story, the game has also aged very well. A classic - but many people haven't heard of it since it was a Mac-only game.
