Re: And the reality happened
Numerous states have lost in court over their abusive voter actions: Florida, Texas, Kansas, North Carolina. What do these states have in common? Is it also that they've been subjected to Republican misrule, often due to gerrymandering? It would seem, therefore, if Republicans were really interested in fair and honest elections, they would remedy the faults in their actions that lead to unlawful purges, and discriminatory ID claims, so their actions would be fair and above reproach. Yet the opposite happens...Why is that?
Oh, and it turns out that Virginia had problems with its attempted purge. And that report you cherish is questionable.
Sorry, LynnwoodRooster, but your command of statistics remains faulty, same as when you're being a racist bigot about homicides.

Human Sewage on Pasture a is bad idea
And this is why.
How many of you knew that most of your food comes from sewage land applied farm fields?
Its perfectly legal. Farmers demand it.You can have what are called phobe/bacteria blooms after land application.
Could this be the smoking gun for all the MRSA reports, contamination of our produce, and now in E.Coli Germany.
They take the digestate and apply it to farm fields to grow food.
If you are unaware, bacteria mutate thru a process called gene swapping.
I believe multi-drug resistance is a byproduct of the Waste Water Treatment industry - take these bacteria, kill off the weak with the pharmasuticals we dump into waste stream (penecillin, etc), and you end up with super tough bacteria that can take us out.

Re:well...Well, this article describes how gas station operators cleverly defrauded consumers while duping the testers by using 'custom' firmware or parts:
The gas dealers were especially difficult to catch there because the equipment initially fooled inspectors. While inspectors usually pump 1, 5 or 10 gallons of gasoline for testing, the illegal equipment ensured those amounts dispensed properly.
"They were using our own test methods to beat us at our own games," he said. "We started receiving enough complaints to lead us to believe something was going on."
When undercover inspectors pumped differing amounts of gasoline--such as 6 or 9 gallons--they discovered they were shortchanged by as much as a third.
He said savvy consumers can watch for such a scam.
For example, if a gas pump is rigged, the gauge that shows gallon measurements will speed up right after the 1-, 5- and 10-gallon marks, and go really slowly as they approach those points.
"You could actually see that speed up and slow down," he said. -
Re:uh, wrong. please check your math.
It will be a guided projectile, but inexpensive due to lack of things like a propulsion system. GPS + some control surfaces are cheap in comparison.
Your suspicions seem wrong from what I've seen. "The railgun's 200 to 250 nautical-mile range will allow Navy ships to strike deep in enemy territory while staying out of reach of hostile forces."
http://www.fredericksburg.com/News/FLS/2007/012007/01172007/251373 article's title is "A missile punch at bullet prices." -
Re: I miss the days of gunpowderhttp://www.fredericksburg.com/News/FLS/2007/012007/01172007/251373 The prototype fired at Dahlgren is only an 8-megajoule electromagnetic device, but the one to be used on Navy ships will generate a massive 64 megajoules. Current Navy guns generate about 9 megajoules of muzzle energy. The same article talks about increasing range 'more than tenfold' to 200-250 nautical miles.
This article about proposals for guns on new destroyers for a talks about muzzle velocities of 800-900 metres per second, or about Mach 2.5. Wikipedia says that 1800 mps or about Mach 5 is 'close to the limit achievable with chemical propellants'
So 64MJ and Mach 8 is pretty impressive. It would mean that US ships would have a profound advantage of having ten times the range of their opponents. More to the point if they were attacking a country with not much navy but decent anti ship missiles, they could avoid getting too close to them. Actually this page says China acquired SS-N-22 launchers and missiles (specifically, the for-export 3M-80E Moskit variant) with its 19992000 purchase of two Sovremenny destroyers from Russia. According to Russia, the Chinese funded the development of the SS-N-22 version for the People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN), which has the designation 3M-80MBE, and this version differs from earlier versions mainly in that the range is increased beyond 200 km, and these new missiles will be first onboard the second pair Sovremenny class destroyers. It is speculated that the PLAN intends to use it against the carrier battle groups deployed by United States Navy in case of any confrontation with Taiwan. Now the railgun can actually fire 200-250 nautical miles or about 460 km, so US ships could stay well out of range. -
Re:Meanwhile.. Walmart is in Spanish
What's wrong with being bilingual? If schools start teaching spanish people complain. Why? I mean... "the more you know", right? If instead of speaking one language, you can speak 2? That's cool, opens a lot of possibilities.
There's nothing wrong with being bilingual. The proponents of making the US english only see it as a means of protecting our culture, making sure that you can go anywhere in the US and be able to find help if you need it, etc. I respect people's right to do whatever they want (as long as they aren't hurting someone else) but is it really that bad to expect people who want to emigrate to your country to want to actually be a part of that country? By all means, keep your traditions, food, etc and share them with others, but you need to accept some of the culture you decided to be a part of and one of the most fundamental things that define a culture is its language.
Also factor in that, under the 14th Amendment, if you make government accessible in one alternative language, you have to do it for ALL languages (equal protection clause). I don't remember off the top of my head, but that means making every form, guide, service, etc available in more than 100 languages. I think it's cool if you want to learn the language of the family that lives next door... it's not cool for them to force their language on you. Look at the case in Maryland where a rapist had his case thrown out because they couldn't find a translator for his native language despite him graduating from an US high school which requires fluency in english and his attendence of a state university. Also, america is also ashamed of the south. You like white christmas and all that crap, and also, that's the way christmas is supposed to be. I wonder if christmas is white in Florida, or even in New Orleans? No, but you don't talk about that. People in those places go barefoot and drive in dirt roads, ewww. They also chase alligators and fish in the mississippi. I mean, if you're fishing it MUST be in some pretty lake or a crystaline river, surrounded by mountains and brown maple leaves in fucking vermont.
There is a large cultural divide between the elitists who live in metropolitan areas in the US and those who live in the south and rural areas. You can see it right here on Slashdot pretty frequently, especially in voting related stories. You see, anyone who doesn't vote the way self-righteous "learned" people do must be idiots. It couldn't be that different people value different things and that living in different areas can give you different perspectives on life. When you're making six figures and only surrounded by similar people, it's easy to look down at anyone who doesn't. Besides, those are the peasants who provide you with things like food so they aren't so much human, they're more like servants to the narcissism of the elite.
What the fuck is wrong with you people? There's a whole world of things, languages, foods, places, and you complain because ILLEGALS ARE TAKING OUR JOBS AND NOT PAYING TAXES! What good are taxes for? I mean, in my country I can at least get FREE medical attention, even AIDS drugs. Even if I don't have a job and don't pay taxes. Hell, even if I'm not a citizen, I can still get all of that. Do you pay your taxes? What do these taxes do anyway? You need to pay for health, food, college. In my country, at least I can CHOOSE. I can pay for health, or use the State health services (sometimes the latter is better). I can go to a private university, but I can also go (and I do) to a state-funded university (and my degree is just as good in any of them). And I can even get free food from the government (and not food stamps, to be treated like scum at the store).
And such is politics. There are those believe that the government should provide everything you'll ever need. Others believe it is up to the individual to achieve those things a

Re:that's not what they told me
Well you're wrong. At least according to the State law you're supposed to keep right http://leg1.state.va.us/cgi-bin/legp504.exe?000+c
o d+46.2-804 and yield to faster traffic http://leg1.state.va.us/cgi-bin/legp504.exe?000+co d+46.2-842.1 . According to the State Police this includes when that traffic is exceeding the speed limit http://www.fredericksburg.com/News/FLS/2006/022006 /02092006/166829 . Why you might ask? Because slow drivers in the left lane increase road rage incidents and cause more accidents. -
Railgun correction w/rt rounds per minute
FYI: The railgun under development is anticipated to fire up to 10 rounds per minute aboard Naval ships or other platforms. The Electromagnetic Launch facility at Dahlgren, Va., can fire Railgun 6 to 10 times per day. See retraction: http://fredericksburg.com/News/FLS/2007/012007/01
1 82007/252002 Correction - Date published: 1/18/2007 The railgun being tested at the Naval Surface Warfare Center in Dahlgren is expected to be able to fire six to 10 rounds a minute. The system is expected to be ready for deployment between 2020 and 2025. A story in yesterday's paper was incorrect on those points. It is the policy of The Free Lance-Star to correct factual errors in a timely fashion. We welcome your calls at 540/374-5400. -
Pictures of blogger pushing before TV footage
There is far more to this story that the footage on YouTube. How about this Mike Stark forcing/pushing his way past staffers. This was not some nice quiet person who walked up, asked a question, and was tackled. This was someone aggressively forcing his way to a confrontation with a candidate, and this is before the footage that has been seen on TV.
Look in particular in the first few photos at the left side of the pictures as Allen exits a room.
http://fredericksburg.com/News/Web/2006/102006/103 1allen/index2_html?qstart=1
By the way, most political analysts think Allen's problems are more from trying to make an issue about some of Jim Webb's novels than this. -
Re:But wait, there's more!
That blogger is a well known and self described antagonist who just moments before the video was caught on film fighting his way through a crowd and himself assaulting people in order to get to Allen.
IMHO, his actions and the fact he had an unchecked backpack warranted a lot more action then he received.
And Allen's ex-wife herself has refuted his claims.
If anything, this video is a prime example of how YouTube can be used to mold perceptions without even the most basic of factual checks that one would expect from the MSM at large. Not that I'm calling on any form of political censorship for YouTube, just that people have to take what they see there with a grain of salt and be willing to look further into the story than the 60 second sound bite that the videos there provide. -
Killing Animals.
PETA runs a Humane Society shelter. The Humane Society euthanizes animals that are sick or un-adoptable (i.e., infirm, dangerous, failed temperament testing, etc.). Of course, it's not as catchy if a website is named The Humane Society Kills Animals dot com. The Humane Society believes its mission is ethical. Full disclosure: my wife works for the Humane Society.
For more on the douche --er, lobbyist-- that runs petakillsanimals.com, see http://fredericksburg.com/News/FLS/2005/072005/070 22005/111781 -
Re:week-old news.. americans like their space
Personally, I'd rather drive.
You wouldn't if you lived in a city with 1,000,000 cars and 900,000 parking spaces.
Especially when a wreck on the interstate backs up traffic 25 miles and turns your 1.5 hour commute into a 4 hour commute.

Westmorland? Interesting group there.
Just for some context about Northern Neck read:

Oral?
Use of the word "Oral" is in violation of a recent Presidential order made on the request of John Ashcroft, shortly after he decided that the Supreme Court building was indecent.

Santa? Or SATAN?Santa Claus may be good fun for non-Christian children everywhere, but have you ever stopped to consider the effect that Santa's popularity has had on Jesus? Yes, Jesus Christ, who died for your sins and makes julienne fries, is now forced to wander the streets begging for spare change like some sort of Perl programmer.
So when you're opening your shiny gifts from Santa tomorrow morning, think of Jesus. He's probably going to get frostbite for your sins, and then have to have his feet amputated for your sins, and go on prescription painkillers while receiving federal welfare for your sins. You fuckers!
