Re:You know...
Yeah, does anyone seriosly care what Kim Jong Il has to say?
This is a guy who kidnapped a S. Korean director to make a socialist version of Godzilla.
If he's not trying to use his probably bogus nuke capabilities to blackmail the world into helping him prop up his regime, he's threatening Japan or S. Korea. I say screw N. Korea. The only reason we don't just bomb that whole freaking disaster back to the Stone Age is because the S. Koreans still believe they can save what's left of the people of N Korea, oh and the 30,000 pieces of N Korean artillery in range of Seoul. Quite frankly though, reunification there is going to be an order of magnitude more messy than say, the reunification of Germany.
Until then, screw Kim Jong Il and the mess he's leaving this planet with. -
Re:One Vaio problem...
Just got a Vaio for our President, one of the small ones
Was it Jimmy Carter? I'd guess James Madison, but he probably doesn't use computers.
Or is your President Kim Jong Il? Would he dare to use a Japanese computer? Wow, what a thought...

There's an entire country in Asia...
Is there a usable spot for a large telescope in the US or Canada that isn't affected by light pollution?
Not in North America, but all the light pollution maps show a great location in Asia.
It's a very short drive (as the missile flies) due North of a major commercial center, but the skies are amazingly dark. It's as though there were no industry at all -- at least, not the kind that requires nighttime illumination.
There are even reasonably high mountains, complete with pre-existing infrastructure. And during the astronomers' free time, there's a nearby "Treasure House of Wildlife!"
After all, our entire planet is but a miniscule speck of dust in the cosmos. Why should we let a little treaty matter stand in the way of discovery? -
Discuss breaking NK's information blockade with usWe have an ongoing discussion at freenorthkorea.net on breaking North Korea's information blockade. Come join us.
North Korea has the worst human rights situation on Earth. Its as if Orwells 1984 has come to life.. its comparable to the 1930s in Russia under Stalin. NK desperately needs to be opened to the outside world, but Kim Jong Il, the narcissistic despot who rules NK, will never allow that because it would expose his web of lies. The result is that millions of people have starved to death and millions more have died in concentration camps.
Check out some of the resources linked from freenorthkorea.net's home page. North Korea is by far the strangest place on Earth

Senator Brownback is one of my heros.
And I'm a Democrat. It's mostly because of his work trying to improve human rights in North Korea. For a glimpse at this see yesterdays Senate hearing on "Life in North Korea" at this URL.: rtsp://video.webcastcenter.com/srs_g2/foreign0605
0 3.rm Now if we can only get him to fight for the "breaking the information blockade by dropping radios" idea. See http://www.freenorthkorea.net North Korea can be freed without war.. Lets do it!
