They don't want to know the gov. is corrupt.
See this book on page 405 for the beginning of a description of the conflicts of interest and government corruption of Jeb Bush, governor of Florida: The Family: The Real Story of the Bush Dynasty.
For the corruption caused by the Bush family in general, see the many descriptions starting on page 397 and continuing throughout chapter 20 to page 428. "A glimpse into the business dealings of the Bush family shows that they acquired their wealth through the intermingling of public policy and private interests." This is Ms. Kelley's overly polite way of saying the Bush family sells the U.S. government to whoever will pay the most.
It's crazy to say the honest President Carter is partisan. It's really, really crazy to defend Jeb Bush.
I knew already, from reading about it for many years, that the Bush family was heavily involved with the Saudi Arabians most disliked by Osama bin Laden. Osama bin Laden says the Bush family's (now former) business associates are preventing needed changes in Saudi Arabia. I knew George W. Bush's father attended a meeting with a brother of Osama bin Laden on the day before 9/11. I don't accept Osama bin Laden's violence; I think his ideas for the future of Saudi Arabia are not sensible and not achievable. However, his ideas and the ideas of many Arabs that the U.S. government is supporting corruption in Saudi Arabia seem correct. This corruption has been encouraged by George W. Bush's father.
What I didn't remember was that Neil Bush was involved in business with Scott Hinckley, the brother of John Hinckley, Jr., who almost killed President Reagan. Had Reagan died, George H.W. Bush would have become president. Scott Hinckley had "given a lot of money to the Bush family". (See page 384.)
Also, I didn't realize that the Air National Guard began drug testing for cocaine on the same month that George W. Bush dropped out of the Guard. (Page 301.) Alcoholics use cocaine because it helps them drink more, I'm told by an alcoholic friend.
Aside the from the known corruption, there are literally hundreds of coincidences and associations like this where there was a Bush family involvement, and then something bad happened to the United States. For other short descriptions of the widespread corruption, see the reviews of 3 movies and 35 other books that say the same things as the book linked above.
Many Americans, like the person who posted the parent comment, have a hard time accepting that their government has become, in some ways, corrupt. There is so much corruption that one Slashdot comment cannot even begin to describe it.
Bush and Cheney are the most arrested U.S. president and vice-president in history. George W. Bush was arrested once for the crime of DUI and Dick Cheney twice:
George W. Bush DUI, 1st record of arrest
George W. Bush DUI, 2nd record of arrest
George W. Bush was arrested 2 other times in his life, also.
Dick Cheney DUI, record of 1st arrest
Dick Cheney DUI, record of 2nd arrest
The corruption is exactly what you would expect with dry drunks in charge. (It is more polite to call them "non-drinking alcholics".)
Other Bush family members have been arrested also. How does your family compare to the Bush family?

Bush: Borrowing money to try to make his administration look good. -
Avoiding the big issues, analyzing the details.
There are a lot of people, on TV and on the Internet, who overanalyze the details of politics, and show no interest in the big issues.
For an example of one of the big issues, consider this: The U.S. government is borrowing money to kill Iraqis.
Before, Saddam was killing. Now, the U.S. government is killing and destabilizing, and U.S. taxpayers are supporting the violence. Do you consider that an improvement?
The violence helps rich people like the Bush family and Dick Cheney's friends to profit. (The Bush family says they have sold their interest in Carlyle Group, and they no longer are connected. However, the company is privately held, and there is no way of verifying statements made about ownership.)
A lot of the problems in the U.S. seem to be connected with karma. Make trouble in the world, and your own quality of life will go down.
Those are big issues that are not sufficiently discussed. If they were discussed, many of the complicated projections being made now would be worthless. The U.S. government's system of violence depends on ignorance. Those who discuss politics while avoiding the big issues become part of the system of violence.

The president does not run the country directly.
"A Kerry presidency will leave us drifting and crippled for four years at a time when we could ill afford it."
The president does not run the country directly. The White House staff numbers about 5,500, for example. A president assures that the government follows the needs of the people. A president guards against corruption. I think Kerry is an honest and decent person. I think very few decent people know what to do when they are being constantly attacked. Kerry has been in the Senate for 20 years, as I remember. If there were something seriously wrong with him, I think the voters would have noticed it by now.
On the other hand, Bush and Cheney are the most secretive president and vice president in U.S. history. For example, read Worse Than Watergate: The Secret Presidency of George W. Bush, a very well-written book by a man who is definitely in a position to understand corruption at the top. It is possible to read enough to get an understanding of the secrecy while reading the book in a bookstore.
Bush and Cheney are the president and vice-president most affected by conflict of interest in U.S. history.
The U.S. government's war with Iraq is an example of "drifting and crippled". Both Bush and Cheney and friends and family benefit from situations where there are more weapons contracts, as the 3 movies and 35 books reviewed the article Unprecedented Corruption: A guide to conflict of interest in the U.S. government discuss. The Iraq war has made enemies of tens of millions of moderate Arabs and Muslims. Before, Saddam was killing his people. Now, the U.S. government is killing Iraqis, and destabilizing the government. Is that and improvement? Should Iraqis be proud that they are being killed by the U.S. government? A lot of foggy-minded people in the U.S. seem to think that.

Okay, if he's not an idiot, how about "buffoon"?
It's just ridiculous that someone defends Bush. Anyone who wants to take the time can show that the problems are far, far worse than a Slashdot comment can possibly say. Check Google for Bush idiot Canada
Carolyn Parrish did not call Bush an idiot, apparently. She said Americans were a "coalition of idiots". And she is not sorry.
I guess that seemed like strong language to you. No, it is weak language. Look at the other links:
Canadian Prime Minister Jean Chretien called Bush a "buffoon". Is that high enough in the Canadian government for you?
Jodine Chase, a media adviser to Ralph Klein's Alberta government apologized for referring to the US President as "that idiot" in a memo. According to the article, there is a new government policy in Canada: "These words cannot be used in reference to President Bush:
-moron
-idiot
-wanker
-idiot
-wanker
-dufus
-President of dumb
-Leader of the stupids
-that guy with Dick Cheney
-Commander-in-Comma"
Also see this in the same article: Francoise Ducros has resigned as Prime Minister Jean Chretien's director of communications after the media reported on a private conversation in which she called U.S. President George W. Bush a "moron."
Sorry, I don't have time to continue with the words the German and French government leaders use for Bush.
Call an AA chapter. Ask someone there if it's true that "once an alcoholic, always an alcoholic".
Few Americans realize how really, really bad the present administration is. U.S. media writers are afraid they will lose their jobs. Those from other countries can tell the truth about what they see.
Ask someone at AA if alcoholics are abusive, as the Prime Minister of Canada said. See this: The psychological effects of alcoholism provide a framework for understanding the Bush administration. Check the list of points 1 to 13. -
No, they don't, at least not educated people.
Quote from the article : "But why does the foreign policy establishment want Bush -- a man regarded by most educated Indians with a mixture of hostility and a derision that borders on contempt -- back in the White House?"
Outside of the U.S., Bush and Cheney are the most disliked U.S. president and vice-president in history. A Canadian government leader called Bush an "idiot".

Many Americans have a hard time accepting that their government has become, in some ways, corrupt.
The U.S. has a difficult time getting good people to run for president:
For example, engaging in inappropriate sex is one of the characteristics of ACOAs, Adult Children of Alcoholics. Former U.S. president Bill Clinton was not an alcoholic, but his parents were violent alcoholics. The book, The Dysfunctional President: Inside the Mind of Bill Clinton, discusses the fact that Bill Clinton's misuse of sexuality is typical of the children of alcoholism-influenced families. The behavior of such children is so typical that every U.S. city has ACOA support groups.
Clinton has a strong interest in government and government policy. He at least has the knowledge to make informed decisions.
Bush, however, is a recovered alcoholic, and acts exactly the way recovered alcoholics usually act: The psychological effects of alcoholism provide a framework for understanding the Bush administration.. See points 1 through 13. Bush has never shown a strong interest in government and government policy.

People who work with computers think carefully.
"Slashdot's increasingly left-leaning story postings..."
People who work with computers have to think carefully and logically, or they won't be successful. There is nothing illogical about being Republican, but George W. Bush and Dick Cheney are the most secretive and corrupt administration in U.S. history, or at least in the last 100 years. They are Re-money-cans, not Republicans. Someone observant enough and able to think clearly enough to do computer work is usually able to see that.
Republicans, Democrats, generals, former government leaders, a Pulitzer Prize winner, political commentators, editorial writers, environmental organizations, and members of the public tell the story: Unprecedented Corruption: A guide to conflict of interest in the U.S. government.

The Republican answer to every problem:
The AC of the parent comment must be a Republican. "I won't believe Microsoft is being abusive until I see the exact wording I am looking for."
It's just more of the Republican mindset: "I won't believe the U.S. government is extremely corrupt unless you use exactly the right words to tell me." And, "Michael Moore expresses some things badly, so I will ignore all the problems he shows."

Bush: Spending money the U.S. doesn't have to try to make his administration look good. -
F9/11 is by far the most popular documentary.
I should add that I agree that Michael Moore is very imperfect as a filmmaker. However Fahrenheit 9/11 has already grossed $203,561,908 on a $6 million investment. It is by far the most popular documentary of all time, in the entire world.
Even the 35 books reviewed in Unprecedented Corruption: A guide to conflict of interest in the U.S. government don't discuss all the corruption. Michael Moore did a far from perfect job, but it is very difficult to present all that he did in just 2 hours.

Alcoholics: Often likable, not good speakers.
Your sig: "America: fast becoming a militant fascist theocracy"
Maybe this is a better understanding:
The U.S. government's militant behavior has not been fast. The U.S. government has engaged in 24 wars since World War II.
The violent behavior has nothing to do with religion. Bush only discusses religion so that he can get votes. The U.S. government has been an equal opportunity killer: 3,000,000 people killed since World War II, most of them in Vietnam. The people killed were from many religions.
The U.S. government violence is not really fascist. It is profitist. I don't think those who want profit care about politics, they only engage in manipulating government because that brings easy profit. On the other hand, caring only about money eventually causes the rigid behavior that might be called fascism, but is really a kind of mental illness.
The system works by creating fear so that citizens will allow rich people to engage in secret and not-so-secret violence for profit. Cheney is doing some of the not secret part now, by implying that a vote for Kerry is a vote for a terrorist attack.
Alcoholics are often very likable on the surface; they are anything but likable in reality. They have such inner conflict that they are not easily able to be analytical. Their thoughts are so disorganized that they cannot express complicated ideas easily.
Bush acts exactly like recovered alcoholics usually act: The psychological effects of alcoholism provide a framework for understanding the Bush administration.. See points 1 through 13.
Most of what Bush says was written by someone else.

In my opinion, Bush acts exactly like recovered alcoholics usually act: The psychological effects of alcoholism provide a framework for understanding the Bush administration.. See points 1 through 13.
My guess is that you don't recognize the symptoms because you are not an alcoholic and don't know any. I'm not an alcoholic, but I had a friend who is. He taught me a lot, and then I asked numerous other alcoholics.
There's a saying at AA meetings: "Once an alcoholic, always an alcoholic". But, of course, not always a problem drinker. A person's personality does not change just because he or she stopped drinking. -

DUI means "Driving Under the Influence" of alcohol. A DUI is a conviction for a very serious crime, a crime that endangers everyone on the road, a crime that often kills people. A DUI conviction means that the driver felt such a strong need to be drunk that he or she was willing to take a chance of murder.
According to his wife Laura Bush and George W. Bush himself, she threatened to leave him because of his drinking.

"Bashing" is not the problem. Lack of thought is.
"Bashing" Microsoft is like "bashing" the present U.S. government administration. Unless they have spent many hours studying them, those who complain probably don't know one-one-hundredth of the abusiveness.
I've been trying to understand the underlying causes of organizational abusiveness. Partly it seems that rich people often begin to think of themselves as above everyone else. The begin to have a subtle kind of mental breakdown. For them, continuing to think of themselves as superior is like drugs to a crack addict.
The article Windows XP Shows the Direction Microsoft is Going shows a little of the inability of Microsoft to be a good world citizen. It's old now and needs updating, but it does give a small idea of the breadth and depth of Microsoft abusiveness.
Three movies and 35 books say that the present administration of the U.S. government is extremely corrupt. See the article Unprecedented Corruption: A guide to conflict of interest in the U.S. government.
At present vice-president Dick Cheney is visiting all the states with many undecided voters to tell them that the U.S. is constantly at war, and he and George W. Bush are the best people to lead a war. The U.S. government has engaged in 24 wars since World War 2. The system works by creating fear so rich people can profit.
As former U.S. President and Supreme Commander of Allied Forces General Dwight D. Eisenhower said in a famous speech, beware of the "military-industrial complex". Here's a quote:
"In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist.
"We must never let the weight of this combination endanger our liberties or democratic processes."
Another quote:
"The prospect of domination of the nation's scholars by Federal employment, project allocations, and the power of money is ever present - and is gravely to be regarded."
If you love the U.S. as much as I do, you will stop worrying about bashing, and you will begin trying to understand the conflicts and begin trying to help the world out of the mess it gets itself in when people don't think deeply.
At present, those who complain about Microsoft are often attacked by people who are uninformed. This delays needed improvements inside Microsoft.

Bush holding hands in public with Saudi Arabia's "Prince Bandar", especially since al Qaeda's prime complaint is that the U.S. government is interfering with Saudi politics, and the U.S. government is, in fact, doing that, partly through this man the Bush family calls "Bandar Bush"? (See the network TV footage shown in the movie "Fahrenheit 9/11" for the hand holding.)
How do you feel about the fact that the U.S. government has engaged in 24 wars since WW2? The U.S. government seems to create fear to get support from the people, so rich people can profit from violence.
How do you feel about the fact that Bush and Cheney are the most arrested U.S. leaders in history? Bush says he has been arrested 3 times, once for the very serious crime of driving while drunk. Cheney has been arrested at least twice, both times for driving while drunk:
George W. Bush DUI, 1st record of arrest
George W. Bush DUI, 2nd record of arrest
Dick Cheney DUI, record of 1st arrest
Dick Cheney DUI, record of 2nd arrest
DUI means "Driving Under the Influence" of alcohol. A DUI is a conviction for a very serious crime, a crime that endangers everyone on the road, a crime that often kills people. A DUI conviction means that the driver felt such a strong need to be drunk that he or she was willing to take a chance of murder.
How do you feel about the fact that family life is so stressful in the U.S. that children turn to drugs to try to cope:
"The daughter of Florida Gov. Jeb Bush was arrested... ... while allegedly trying to buy the anti-anxiety drug Xanax." (Jeb Bush is George W. Bush's brother.) Noelle Bush was arrested and charged with fraud, not for trying to buy marijuana, but for trying to buy an anti-anxiety drug. Why was she willing to break the law to buy a drug to become less anxious? Because living in her family is very anxiety-producing?
George W. Bush's daughters seem to be imitating their alcoholic father. The BBC article, Alcohol sentence for Bush daughter, says that "Barbara and Jenna Bush were both charged." Ask yourself, why do these teenage women feel they need a drug like alcohol so badly that they are willing to break the law? -

Denial is thinking George W. Bush is not a recovered alcoholic, and that he is able to be fully mentally engaged in being a leader. Don't you see the puzzled look on his face as he reads things that are written for him?

Richard Nixon: Twenty-four of the top officials in his administration went to jail for extremely serious crimes. He himself was pardoned.

Focus on the humor.
Focus on the humor of the situation: Someone somehow had a machine that cost then half as much as a new car, if I remember the prices correctly. However, the person did not have the money to get the machine adjusted.
Whenever you saw that back then, you knew something unusual was happening. For example, maybe the machine was stolen, and could not be adjusted, because only IBM technicians had the tools, and they always checked the serial numbers and would report stolen machines.
Or maybe the machine was owned by an office supply store that was using it while trying to find a buyer.
There is simply very, very little chance that a machine used by the military was stolen, so there must be another reason.
When someone offered to sell me a used Selectric in perhaps 1979, I immediately called IBM to see if it was stolen. I was told it was okay. By then it was a newer model that did not need as much adjustment. Even in 1979 these were expensive machines.
Bush's education improvements were fraud. Why would you expect something better in the case of his military service?
George W. Bush was an active alcoholic back then. See Method of Corruption #7 for a discussion of this. See the section just after that for a discussion of how his personality is exactly what you would expect from a recovered alcoholic.
Not meeting commitments is exactly what would be expected of an alcoholic. -
Discussions about Michael Moore are a distraction.
One thing discussions like this have taught me is that there are a LOT of people who have very little idea what their government is doing. There is enough material about U.S. government corruption to make a hundred movies like Fahrenheit 9/11.
I've found that most U.S. citizens don't know that the U.S. government has killed more than 3,000,000 people in war since the end of World War II. None of those people directly threatened the United States.
I've found that most U.S. citizens don't know that the U.S. government has engaged in 24 wars since the end of World War II.
Want to educate yourself about U.S. goverment corruption? See the two other movies and read the 35 books reviewed in this article: Unprecedented Corruption: A guide to conflict of interest in the U.S. government.
This is how it has been going:
Michael Moore: Parts of the U.S. government are very, very corrupt.
TV shows and newspaper articles: Michael Moore is a liar!
Other TV shows and newspaper articles: Michael Moore is not a liar!
Discussions about Michael Moore are a distraction. We should be discussing U.S. government corruption. For example, we should be discussing the U.S. government's relationship with Saudi Arabia that is unhealthy for both countries. There were only hints of that in Fahrenheit 9/11. The movie showed network footage of George W. Bush holding hands with Prince Bandar of Saudi Arabia. Why was he doing that, aside from the fact that men sometimes hold hands in Saudi Arabia? Why are they so warm with each other that they hold hands in public? One clue: I think we can rule out any idea that Prince Bandar actually likes George W. Bush; that would be very much against Saudi culture. -
Only one way to understand: Read books.
If you read books about the issues, you may come to the conclusion that by far the biggest underlying issue in the present political campaign is U.S. government violence. You probably won't know this unless you read books.
The present system of violence in the U.S. and Britain started in the 1940s. In the 1940s, it was decided that the U.S. government could act in secret in foreign countries to preserve the profits of U.S. and British companies. It was decided that the U.S. government could not only act in secret, it could break the laws of the foreign country. It was decided the the U.S. government could even arrange the murder of the leaders of foreign countries. Agencies like the CIA were created for secret accomplishment of largely secret foreign policy.
Only an estimated 2% read non-fiction books not connected with work. The system of violence works partly by keeping U.S. citizens ignorant. It is not necessary that all citizens be ignorant, just a large percentage of the voters. Actually, there is plenty of information freely available in books, but only an estimated 2% of American citizens read non-fiction books not connected with their work. It is easy to understand why. United States citizens are the hardest-working in the world, with the exception of the Japanese. Many U.S. citizens have only two weeks of vacation every year, and they need that to rest. They simply don't have time to read books.
However, the only way to understand something as complicated as politics is to read books extensively. The issues are too complicated to express in a few words.
By far the biggest issue in the present political campaign is this fundamental one, about which former Supreme Commander of Allied Forces and former Republican U.S. President General Dwight D. Eisenhower warned us in a famous speech. He said that we should beware of the "military-industrial complex". Here are quotes:
"In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist.
"We must never let the weight of this combination endanger our liberties or democratic processes."
The problem he warned us about has been a major influence on both the politics and quality of life of the United States. The U.S. government has engaged in 24 wars since World War II. The system of violence works by creating fear so rich people can profit.
Very few U.S. citizens know the full history of the war against Iraq. This short article is a summary: History surrounding the U.S. war with Iraq: Four short stories.
The events leading up to the present "war on terror" and the two wars against Iraq began in the 1950s, when hidden elements of the U.S. government overthrew a democratically elected president of Iran (Mossadegh) because he wanted to reduce the profits of U.S. and British oil companies doing business in Iran.
The U.S. government supported a very weak man, the Shah of Iran, who became very violent toward his own citizens. Eventually, people in Iran overthrew the Shah. The U.S. government's actions de-stabilized the country and encouraged the violence that came after. The U.S. government supported Iraq against Iran, supplying weapons to Saddam Hussein at a very high profit for the rich owners of U.S. weapons companies. To give a present example, the Bu -

The site you are thinking of is already cited in the Slashdot story: FactCheck.ORG from the Annenberg Public Policy Center of the University of Pennsylvania. Great site, but very limited focus. There is no examination of the underlying problems. In this case, that is a BIG shortcoming.
By far the biggest issue is one about which former Supreme Commander of Allied Forces and former Republican U.S. President General Dwight D. Eisenhower warned us in a famous speech. He said that we should beware of the "military-industrial complex". Here are quotes:

"We must never let the weight of this combination endanger our liberties or democratic processes."
The problem he warned us about has been happening big time for many years. The U.S. government has engaged in 24 wars since WW2. The system of violence works by creating fear so rich people can profit.
Every important speaker at the Republican convention spoke of keeping America safe. Every important speaker was reading speeches written for them by marketing consultants like Karl Rove. "Keeping America Safe" is code for "keeping America fearful by promoting violence so the rich can get richer". It was despicable when Bill Clinton did it, and it continues to be despicable now that George W. Bush is doing it. Possibly many of the nation's leaders are not fully aware of the circumstances. It seems that only a very small percentage of citizens realize the extent of the violence of the U.S. government.
The only really good way to educate yourself about the U.S. government is to read books about it. Here are reviews of 3 movies and 35 books: Unprecedented Corruption: A guide to conflict of interest in the U.S. government. It's necessary to gather enough information that you can make your own informed conclusions, and not just copy the conclusions of others.
Don't like the books I found? Find your own. It's your duty as an adult to participate in the political issues of your country. -
There is one of those cultural prisoners now.
There is one of those cultural prisoners now. Always willing to pay for a new war. Votes Republican because George W. Bush believes in God, and only Bush will make us safe from those foreigners. Market researchers like the Bush administration's Karl Rove find it easy to manipulate him to do anything they want.
CP's who think President Bush is religious should read this: It's illogical to vote Republican in 2004.
And those who think the U.S. government's many wars are for security should read this:

Osama's complaints justified (but not violence)
(Posting again because Slashdot did not receive all of my comment.)
Thanks very much for the link to FactCheck. I didn't know about it.
Please understand: The corruption in the present administration is by far the worst corruption in the U.S. government ever, apparently, at least. This is why:
Osama bin Laden and al Qaeda have two complaints against the U.S. government:
1) Osama bin Laden says that the U.S. government interferes with politics inside Saudi Arabia, preventing needed changes. I've talked with sons of rich Saudis, whose families benefit from the present regime, and would therefore have every reason to disagree, and they say this is correct. The U.S. government does interfere, and changes are needed.
Also, consider this: In the Michael Moore movie Fahrenheit 9/11, George W. Bush can be seen holding hands with a man known to his family as "Bandar Bush", and known in Saudi Arabia as "Prince Bandar". (In Saudi Arabia, it is common for men to hold hands. Doubters: Please, that scene in the movie is taken from network TV footage; no one has contested or questioned it.) Prince Bandar is one of the regime to which Osama bin Laden objects.
George W. Bush had a failing oil company, someone in the Saudi ruling regime bought the company, and Mr. Bush then made a profit. Ask yourself, why would a rich Saudi want to invest in a failing oil company in Texas? The answer is that the Saudis wanted access to top officials in the U.S. government.
So, in this point, Osama bin Laden is correct. I don't agree that violence is the way to resolve this problem, but the U.S. government is preventing needed political change in Saudi Arabia. Think about this. How would you feel if someone from another country was interfering with the U.S. political process?
2) Osama bin Laden and al Qaeda object to the support from the U.S. government for Israeli violence toward Palestinians. I once calculated that the support is about $910 for every Jewish man, woman, and child each year. When you see helicopters firing at Palestinians on the ground, those helicopters came from your tax dollars. Did you intend to get in the middle of a 3,200-year-old conflict (on and off) between the family of Abraham and the surrounding people? Open your billfold right now. What dollars do you see there that you would be willing to give to kill Palestinians you don't know? Yes, there is a serious problem there, but did you intend to get involved? Do you see any advantage for anyone in you getting involved? One famous Israeli government official said that the U.S. government money was like "gasoline on a fire".
So Osama bin Laden is correct in this second complaint, also. Again, I don't agree that violence is the way to resolve this problem, but the U.S. government is, in fact, giving money that Israelis use to buy U.S.-made weapons that are used to kill Arabs. Not surprisingly, Arabs don't like being killed. Not surprisingly, some of them object by becoming violent themselves.
This particular U.S. government corruption works through embezzling. The weapons companies could never arrange a deal to get your tax dollars directly from the U.S. government, the would risk prison; the U.S. government is not that corrupt. Instead, the money goes to the Israeli government first, and back to the weapons manufacturers, who make an easy profit, since the Israelis cannot spend the money elsewhere. If you read the books in the article, Unprecedented Corruption: A guide to conflict of interest in the U.S. government, you will see that George W. Bush's family is invested in weapons makers. Dick Cheney was CEO of Halliburton, another company that makes more profit when there is violence. This involvement may make them prefer violent means.
George W. Bush's father, George H.W. Bush, attended a meeting of -
Osama's complaints justified (but not violence)

That's unprecedented conflict of interest. -
It's been going on a long time: 24 wars in 59 yrs.
No partisan interest here. It's been going on a long time: 24 wars since WW2. Creating fear so rich people can profit.
However, you seem to say that the 3 movies and 35 recently published books in this article are all wrong, even though they written by all kinds of people, Republicans, Democrats, generals, former government leaders, a Pulitzer Prize winner, political commentators, editorial writers, environmental organizations, and members of the public: Unprecedented Corruption: A guide to conflict of interest in the U.S. government.
Name ONE statement that is in error. I'll investigate (again), and if you are correct, I will change it.
Most people don't know that the situation in Iraq began in the 50's, when hidden elements of the U.S. government overthrew a democratically elected president of Iran (Mossadegh) because he wanted to reduce the profits of U.S. and British oil companies doing business in Iran. The U.S. government supported a very weak man, the Shah of Iran, who became very violent toward his own citizens. The Bush family has long owned part of a company that owns weapons companies. Cheney was head of Halliburton, a company that profits when there is war, especially since Halliburton was able to arrange a secret, no competitive bid contract.
What do you say about that? Is the university that hosts the documents all wrong?
Obviously, there is too much material for any one article. Should I not discuss the corruption of today because there was corruption in the past? -
That is only one corruption of thousands.
There are many, many situations of this nature. See Unprecedented Corruption: A guide to conflict of interest in the U.S. government -
Re:one problem of Open Source
Quinto 2000,
You are right, of course. When the U.S. military uses Linux to help kill people, they will ask for more money, not less, because some of those people will have relatives that don't like family members being killed. The relatives will retaliate with violence. That will be used as a reason for a bigger U.S. government violence budget.
Quinto is a foreign word. Your sig says, "Ceci n'est pas un post". Those are foreign words, too.
The U.S. government has bombed 24 countries since the end of the Second World War. Only 155 to go. Possibly yours is next.
Not only does the U.S. government not like foreigners, it tries to kill them. It's equal opportunity violence, led by a president whose family is invested in weapons manufacturers. -

9/11 was a byproduct of U.S. government violence.
The "war on terror" is promoted by U.S. weapons manufacturers, for profit. The manufacturers show no interest in politics; they are equal opportunity killers.
The U.S. government has created more terror than any nation ever, in the history of the world. In the article, History surrounding the U.S. war with Iraq: Four short stories, see the heading, "The U.S. government has bombed 24 countries since the Second World War."
Only someone ignorant of the activities of the U.S. government would think that the attack on 9/11/2001 was the beginning of something. -
They are educated to see only violent solutions.
The U.S. government has been dominated for a long time by people who think that violence is the only way to solve problems. For example, see History surrounding the U.S. war with Iraq: Four short stories. See the heading, "The U.S. government has bombed 24 countries since the Second World War."
U.S. military commanders literally do not have the social sophistication to see any other method than violence, and they are backed by similarly minded U.S. citizens, many of whom have never seen a war they didn't like.
Also, there is an extreme conflict of interest. Weapons makers hire retired military leaders, so supporting violence supports getting a good job after military service. As former U.S. President General Dwight D.
President George W. Bush operates under extreme conflict of interest, also. His family is heavily invested in The Carlyle Group, which is a major owner of weapons manufacturers. That puts pressure on him to see only violent possibilities.
United States citizens often have only 2 weeks vacation each year, and they work more than the people of other nations besides Japan. They simply don't have the time to try to understand their government. They can only hope that everything is all right. But it isn't. For example, see Unprecedented Corruption: A guide to conflict of interest in the U.S. government.
Brazil is a country of about the same land size as the U.S. (excluding Alaska). Brazil is dominated by people of European descent, as is the United States. However, it has been more than 100 years since the Brazilian government has been involved with aggression against its neighbors. (Brazil did support the Allies in the Second World War.) Somehow, Brazilians have found a way to live in the world without killing other people.
