Re:Perception is reality
You forgot Zune, Kin, and Xbox. Yeah xbox is still a money loser in spite of all the paid hype. It has lost $3 billiion in 10 years and is kept alive only by money from the Windows (OEM) monopoly and the Office (file format) monopoly. It has by far the most hype, so that may be why perception flies in the face of reality.

Re:Barely a start
The aim bots could be MW2's excessively iffy lag code. I've seen quite a few reviews that mention unbelievable kills, and one that explicitly mentions banana bullets like this.

Simple really, Aussie law is limited.
Simple. Australian law only allows for games to be rated MA15+ (suitable for fifteen year olds and higher) at the strongest. In fact, this is the only restricted rating available to games in Australia; as all others are merely guidelines. This game was deemed unsuitable for fifteen year olds and therefore had to be unrated.
NZ law allows video games to have the same ratings as movies, so the game could take an R16 or R18 rating here. It's not uncommon for us to see video games for sale that have "banned in Australia" as an advertising gimmick (and usually carrying an R16 or R18 rating). Also, the increased range allows the NZ cheif censor to have more descretion in dealing with things like this. See here.
US law doesn't have any ratings at all (merely industry guidelines.)

Re:Let's review
PlayStation 2 - Played every PlayStation game, huge success
Don't think so. I don't own very many PS1 games, but of those Driver barely loads on the PS2 and crashes very quickly, and (the excellent and hugely under-rated) Terracon doesn't work at all. I don't think that PS2 backwards compatibility was all it was cracked up to be and I found that very annoying when I bought a PS2.

Re:Steam
Actually, no. Vivendi took Valve to court over Steam, as it allowed Valve to distribute their software without the publisher (Vivendi) taking a cut. Blame for Steam lies solely with Valve...

Nintendo already taking advantage of the loop hole
"Seattle Mariners owner Nintendo last week announced Pennant Chase Baseball for the GameCube, indicating the exemption of platform holders from Take-Two's 7-year exclusivity deal with the Major League Baseball Players' Association could leave T2 with plenty of competition."

Savage
Savage, and its creators, did everything right. A multiplayer demo, for linux too, with enough of the game to get you hooked and playing, but leave you wanting more. Online CD Key purchase and download. Clients for both windows and linux, servers too. And continuing development that has already improved the gameplay by an order of magnitude. If the big name companies put this much thought into how to make a game right instead of pumping out the next franchise/licensed game as fast as possible us gamers would be in heaven.

Re:Halo for PC?
Read here about what Xbox Only means. Or wait, I'll spoil it for you:
"Only on Xbox means not on any other console. It does not mean never coming to Mac or PC. Halo will be coming to Mac and PC." He continued, "We still plan to do a Mac and PC version of Halo, but there are a lot of questions that must be answered before we can make the Mac/PC versions happen."
Hehe. Yes, it's coming to the PC ...
