Where can I find a screen-shot of this custom-created Jack Thompson character?
T(2nd)FA has a screenshot. Scroll down. He's the last character they present. -
a bit too much hype around jordan mechner?
you know, there was an interview with jordan (creator who licenses via ubi) through sony - and then it mysteriously went offline - it discussed this entire new game and his plans (etc)...strange (url was: http://sony.gamingtarget.com/news/stories/81206.h
t ml)...but as for jordan, who released the original nearly 14 years ago, he really was not as heavily involved as indicated in this interview with yannis mallat (producer), "CGN: Did Jordan Mechner provide input on The Prince? Yannis: One of Jordan's main objectives during this project has been to unite the story and game-play aspects of the game. As the Prince is the main character, it was of course especially important to get his feedback on our approach. We agreed on the key attributes of the character and the artistic direction. We felt it was essential for Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time to capture the exhilaration of movement that was such a key element of the first game's appeal. The animated character needed to feel acrobatic and graceful, as opposed to mechanical, and the controls had to be simple and intuitively satisfying. Jordan's input was of great value for this process." from http://www.cgno.com/features/29.html (and part 2, which is where this was pulled from) -
Re:Giving Sony Competition
Well, it depends on your definition of 'great games'.
I've got an Xbox- Knights of the Old Republic is rated as one of the best Xbox games available. I don't like that kind of game. Grand Theft Auto Double Pack is also a 'great' game on the Xbox. I don't like that one either. Same with Prince of Persia.
But I like Splinter Cell, Halo, Crimson Skies, etc etc.
So, out of the 50 top games on the Xbox, I probably only like 25 or so.
In that case- (go with my logic here, not your opinion of Xbox games) does the Xbox have 50 great games, or does it have 25?
I know that the Gamecube does not have a lot of games that appeal to me. So if it has only 20 great games, but 17 of those don't appeal to me- I'm left with 3 games.
So I'd prefer more games- because it means I will have a better chance of finding games that *I* like.
So this isn't a knock on the Gamecube, but me just throwing in my opinion that everyone's definition of a great game will be different- and you can never have too many great games!

Re: not only that...
Only one of the listed games was released into the Japanese Xbox market; Phantasy Star Online (Ep I and II).
That's right. The Japanese have no Morrowind, KOTOR, Baldur's Gate, or any other RPG that some westerners find so entertaining.
Even Sega developed Shenmue II didn't come out there. Why? Probably because it wasn't much different than the Dreamcast version which came out years before. We should also note that while the updated PSO came out for both GC and Xbox, it's "Episode III" sequel is only on the cube.
Microsoft is banking on True Fantasy Live Online to sell systems/Live subscriptions to the Japanese, but it's really too late. Microsoft just needs to have a presence in the market until the Xbox Next comes out at which point they can try again.
For now though, they must just accept that the Xbox has failed. -
Re:But I don't OWN that system!Toys R Us has a couple of games labelled "Toys R Us EXCLUSIVE!"
You're thinking of Sneakers for the Xbox.
There's definitely a problem if that game is being kept out of the general public's hands. We gamers have to rise up and stop it! This travesty must not go unpunished!
