Yannis: One of Jordan's main objectives during this project has been to unite the story and game-play aspects of the game. As the Prince is the main character, it was of course especially important to get his feedback on our approach. We agreed on the key attributes of the character and the artistic direction. We felt it was essential for Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time to capture the exhilaration of movement that was such a key element of the first game's appeal. The animated character needed to feel acrobatic and graceful, as opposed to mechanical, and the controls had to be simple and intuitively satisfying. Jordan's input was of great value for this process." from http://www.cgno.com/features/29.html (and part 2, which is where this was pulled from)

Manning Award Foundation's top award for their patented and remarkable successful Canadian Innovation. Lazaridis and Mousseau, both alumni of the University of Waterloo, got the idea for the BlackBerry Single Mailbox Integration during a brainstorming session."....nobody ever talks about gary, and he's remained quite silent during all of this (though lazaridis also tends toward taking the limelight)...

  8. it's '99 again, valuations based on congeniality on Pricegrabber Purchased for $485M · · Score: -1

when i read this, i was shocked...not only is pricegrabber a ridiculous complementary service (honestly, why not just an exclusive partnership? why ownership?), but competitive offerings may obviate the need for such an offering (e.g. froogle, mysimon, bizrate, shopper.cnet and so on) - "Privately owned Pricegrabber, set up in 1999, was used by 17 million unique visitors in November and forecasts sales of $60 million in 2005. " the ONLY logic behind this acquisition is an effort to compete against yahoo's new shopper-oriented social networking and tagging integration...but really, isn't this a rather sloppy backdoor? are you really ever gonna register to meet people and share ideas at pricegrabber and experian's network of channel distribution partners and be a part of this chunky thing? clearly, a valuation based on congeniality (e.g. 'uh, what'd myspace get again?'...and delicio.us?"), not real numbers

you know, http://www.newline.com/sites/dnd/ is a movie from a few years ago that also attempted to pull more money out of the dnd machine....but when i introduced my older son to this game, the idea was to promote 'in-person' game play, with friends, doing all of the ridiculous and imaginative stuff through divine social intercourse...i suppose that deep down those books and guides are more expensive (and that doesn't even include the millions of figurines)...but this sort of flies in the face of dnd logic....from wizards (distributor): "D&D is an imaginative, social experience that engages players in a rich fantasy world filled with larger-than-life heroes, deadly monsters, and diverse settings. As a hobby game, D&D is an ongoing activity to which players might devote hours of their time--much like a weekly poker game--getting together with friends on a regular basis for weeks, months, or even years."...and though this 30 year old game doesn't factor in internet play, i'm not so sure that this is the best candidate for mmorpg...for those who ever dressed up and played this in the woods, peace out...and for those who will only know this online, then i'm kinda sorry for that you might not really ever get the experience...
