Re:Is there really a market for this?
i don't see a market here but there is a regular esports broadcast in germany for some time now. Looks like there are at least a few people out there interested in observing gamers and how they play the game.

Not the only one
In Germany for example there's Giga and Gamesports. http://gamesports.de/Gamesports cover Warcraft 3, Starcraft, Quake and Counterstrike matches. For example during the Electronic Sports World Cup last Month in Paris, it streamed live matches for hours. http://giga.de/Giga concentrates more about the games themselves but about 2 hours every day, they cover the matches in their Giga e-sports programm. Giga 2 is a pay for view that streams live matches of many games.

Re:Ridiculous!
### I wonder if this is such a big deal over in Europe where the attitudes towards sexual content are much more relaxed.
Lula 3D has a '16' rating in germany and similar or worse content then that GTA minigame.
### I do recall hearing that when GTA 3 was released, the German version had certain "violent" features removed
Yep, that is still the case with GTA4, even so nobody really seems to know why they removed it, it doesn't really make the game any more brutal then it already is. The old doing of removing violent content from games is no longer needed these days in germany since the law got changed a while back, so that age ratings are mandatory for all games. Before that games were either 'free for all' or 'indiziert' which meant that a game was only free for age 18 and it was forbidden to perform any form of advertisment for the game, thus making it basically unsellable. So the publishers played save to not get any close to the 'indiziert' barrier and removed anything offensive. Today however games are no longer 'indiziert' they simply get a 'age 18' rating, without the limit on advertisment.

correction: Re:visa rejected for european playerto correct myself, as reported here (it's in german, use the fish):
not the visa itself was rejected but a special entry permission which was neccessary to arrive to the WCG in time. they refered him to the normal visa application process which takes around 1,5 weeks - but which has no use when the WCG starts today..

Here's a video where an NVidia engineer has a GF FX running two demos. It crashes twice, once taking the whole system down for a reboot.

Re:The Sega Channel
When I was living in Germany, they had a show sponsored by GIGA that was part of the NBC offering. During a large portion (I think from 22:00 - 24:00) of the rather long show, they featured reviews of video games. They provided reviews on new games, controllers and other hardware, and tips on playing the games. For the serious gamer, it's quite interesting. Any channel that wants to cover nothing but video games will have to offer similar resources to be successful. If people can't get information on new games and improving their own play, they aren't likely to remain interested.

Giga Games on NBC in Germany sounds similiar
In Germany, NBC runs a couple of related shows under the banner Giga, one of which is called Giga Games this runs for about 2 -3 hours a night, 5 nights a weeks. The overall quality of the show is OK, but sometimes they really struggle to find content for the show, so they end up playing a game and yapping for about 10 minutes just to fill up time slots. I hope that this channel has solved the problem that there just isn't that many games coming out to fill a completly new channel.
