Pretty cool
I am by no means a Mac person (because I like to play games
:P), but this little machine looks really cool. The only thing that I think is better (maybe because I am a PC person) is the MachL 3.8 with cinimatic or Grand Canyon moniter. -

Have you tried the Mach Ultraserve?
Our ISP hosts around 400 domains on about 10 Ultraserve 4.0's. They are pretty powerful, and cheap too.

Offtopic, but still:Not quite as visibly sexy as the dual 20" flatpanels, though.
No no, HERE is a sexy display... Someone sent me a link to this today.
MUST...HAVE

So you have the money to buy extreme hardware...So why are you trying to safe a few bugs here and a few bugs there. If you have the money to buy good hardware then just do it!
Don't mind the price, that's why you are getting paid for, to be able to buy a system like THIS ONE!
And if you really want to be bleeding edge then you need to have a good MONITOR too.Bunch of dollar saving monkeys! Spend your dollors now!

Anyone hear or try these systems?
They seem kinda ridiculous, I don't even know if I believe that they really exist, but they have an option for a multigig ram drive just to store the OS (with nearly zero latency and 80GB/sec IO... yes GB) and a bunch of other stuff.
Their monitors look killer too...

Not one reason to go with Apple then
Not one. You want Unix? Linux on Athlon
Want speed Better than Apple's? Athlon ANYTHING
Want design better than Apple's? liebermann
Someone remind me why I should even consider a mac? -

This is a tad expensive (compared to a PowerBook)
... if I could find an Intel laptop with the same design as a tiBook, I'd probably run Linux or FreeBSD on it... try take a look at : THIS. It's a beast, and its insanely expensive, but thats as close as you get

Re:I think this is a hoaxRead your own link: From the "debunked" part, about two pages down:

Real Links: 9XMedia -- Panoram Tech -- ViewSonic
Notice the 9X link! -

Taken from the plex.us site:

Seems real enough to me... -
Hoax
This looks strikingly similar to the Liebermann Inc hoax.
Why the photoshop jobs? You'd think a company capable of making these devices might be a little interested in actually proving their existence.
I.E., be wary which amateurish websites you make $10000+ credit card transactions with.

Re:10 LCD Display.
Buy a cheaper one then.
http://www.go-l.com/monitors/index.htm
Yeah it's only a 4 panel LCD, but it's still slick, and I believe in giving my business to any company that'll stick it to and beat apple at their own game. -
Re:Any excuse is a good excuse....Yeah, until some PHB decides that, if 2 monitors = productivity gain, 4 monitors = 2x productivity gain
For four monitors, that's a risk I'm willing to take. I use two here at the office, and because of poor virtual desktop support when combined with multiple monitors [1] two desktops is what I'm stuck with. I feel I could use more, even if I did have managers circling over me afterwards like vultures.
(Or VR goggles and gloves that can simulate a wall-sized display and the keyboard to drive it.... :-)A long time dream of mine also - the win here would not even be so much the huge virtual screen, but the isolation and lack of external disturbances in the office. That said, Libermann make a nice 92" LCD that would also occlude disturbances by sheer virtue of its size.

[1] I have tried a few different virtual desktop solutions for Windows, but have yet to find one which handles edge flipping properly when configured with multiple physical displays ( i.e. attempting to warp the pointer from the right ( primary ) display to the leftmost one triggers a virtual desktop flipping event, instead of at the edge fo the left desktop as you would hope. Anyone have any successes in this area? -
Re:Any excuse is a good excuse....
Perhaps I can finally convince my employer to spring for one of these displays...
yeah, right. -
If 2 increases productivity...
image what this puppy would do!

Four monitor stitched together?Tasty.
Monitor resolution of 6400x1200 sound good?

Didn't feel like reading the whole thing
But this is my current target for a geek toy.
one of these monitors and a nice laptop for travel.
Pimp Monitor -
Get him one of these ...
Better yet - buy one for me.
92", 6400x1200 pixels, 13 ms response time. -
Include the movie studios as well.
Well, the movie studios are doing the same thing, or what do you think this thing is used for ? -
Re:Some machines ready for P5
Yeah...they also claim that their 16" laptop can hold four internal hard drives.
-
Some machines ready for P5
Liebermann claims their desktops AND laptop designs are ready for the first gen of P5 chips. Given the kit they're already coming out with I'd expect they have some pretty awesome hardware in the pipeline.
Their 16" notebook has me drooling -
Re:Right about now....
Right
like the server picture on this page which features that power supply with the awesome LCD.
Funny, that graphic is a Mac Performa power supply from 1995 with an LCD image pasted over it.
I call this site "complete tripe" -
Re:Right about now....
Hey I admit to being really hardware ignorant, but could someone who knows a bit clear up whether www.go-l.com is a troll website? it sounds too good to be true.
If it's not, the drives they talk about in their top 3.8GHz machine seem pretty stunning. As they say on the site:
PuRam(TM) Drives Technology work in conjunction with CacheFlow(TM) Technology. Stand-alone performance limited to 400MB/sec Burst/ 320MB/sec Sustained R/W and 50,000 IO/sec -
Try competing with THIS apple. HA!
