    Most of them will start printing the copies of a multipage document as it is still going through the document feeder; and they'll keep printing the copies long after the last page was scanned.

    That information has to be stored somewhere, even if there is no UI to get to it.

    Remember that StartSSL.com gives out free SSL certificates. There's no reason to be running self-signed certificates anymore.

    I've discovered that at least on modern Ubuntu, tar figures out compression itself: tar xvf file.tgz works without the z.

    I'll bet they destroy them; there have been problems in the past with people using fake mailboxes to get letters such as bill payments, etc.
