    Paolo DF writes "Geocities is closing today. Its advent in 1995 was a sign of the rising 'Internet for everyone' era, when connection speeds were 1,000x or 2,000x slower than is common today. You may love it or hate it, but millions of people had their first contact with a Web presence right here. I know that Geocities is something that most Slashdotters will see as a n00b thing — the Internet was fine before Geocities — but nevertheless I think that some credit is due. Heck, there's even a modified xkcd homepage to mark the occasion." Reader commodore64_love notes a few more tributes around the Web. Last spring we discussed Yahoo's announcment that Geocities would be going away.

The best part is, they did the whole thing out of Post-It Notes, recreating the wondeful pixellated goodness we expect from Super Mario. The idea for this mural seems to have originated in the Strong Bad email of the same name."

    darkCanuck writes "A year and a half ago, three guys wrapped up a Flash-based story taking three years of work, spanning twenty-four chapters in twelve hours. This afternoon they began offering Broken Saints as a DVD set (four discs), the entire series at $39.99 US. It's been tweaked, to say the least, to 5.1 surround sound, updated art and effects for more than half of the production, subtitles in six languages and voice narration from such people as Cancer Man from the X-files (William B. Davis), among other notables. It's an impressive feat for any studio, in my opinion, but three canucks in their spare (and not so spare) time ... that's incredible. If you haven't seen it, check it out since the chapters are still available at the website." Just as pressing -- An anonymous reader writes "You can now buy all 100 Strong Bad Emails as a boxed set of 3 DVDs. If you live under a rock, Strong Bad is freakin' awesome. You can buy it here."

    Thanks to several readers for pointing out that Paul Slocum's new, in-development Atari 2600 RPG, which we've mentioned previously on Slashdot, is now revealed to be using the official Homestar Runner license. According to the newly-released info, "Mike and Matt Chapman (creators of Homestar Runner) will be contributing story, graphics, and creative ideas to the game", and you will be able to "...play as Homestar, Poopsmith, or Strongsad" and, as before, "...fight enemies from other Atari 2600 games" when the game is released as an actual cartridge, early in 2004.

    Thanks to EvilAvatar for pointing out these preview renders (via PlanetHalfLife) of a Strong Bad mod for Half-Life, as based on the wildly popular Web cartoon (do I hear Cartoon Network calling?) Homestar Runner. The mod's homepage promises unique weapons and multiplayer modes, but doesn't guarantee gameplay interludes for Strong Bad Email Updates. C'est la vie?

The leader of the team of scientists is Theodore Berger of the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. They hope these artificial hippocampuses can replace damaged (stroke, Alzheimer's, etc.) portions of your brain. I wonder what portions of 'you' would be noticeably different to your family & friends? I wonder how long it will be before we can have HUDs, such as in this story by Cory Doctorow?"

    Bill Hughes writes "The folks over at ResExcellence have posted an interview with the Brothers Chapman, the two guys who create and run the Homestar Runner/Strong Bad web site." If you have not seen homestarrunner, prepare to be baffled and amused. This site has mostly justified Flash to me :)
