Re:Duh
And that article is one of the worst I've seen.
I would say that I see our primary role is to proactively drive positive change while developing the right responses to capitalize on disruption in our industry.
If that even made sense
... is there any "management" or CxO role in a company where the exact same could NOT be said?I would make it clear that my team is not going to spend a lot of time spinning wheels on inventorying every nuance and the current state of our infrastructure.
I've worked for hazardous waste disposal companies, insurance companies and manufacturing companies. The CRITICAL parts are always 100% "nuance".
Otherwise you're operating the same as someone else and they're probably doing it for less than you charge. And taking all your clients.
We're also tasked with taking innovative new technology and coming up with a plan to apply that innovation to dominate the competition.
In other words, you want to play beta-tester with the company's business. For technology that you do NOT control.
The rest of it really is focused on driving change and optimizing.
I'm reminded of some old advice for CxO's. Claim something is a problem and then change it. No one ever filled out their resume with "maintained the status quo".
We will do everything in our power to build that trust and to aid in taking advantage of the rapid change that is happening in our industry.
What "rapid change"? If your name is "Google" or "Amazon" then you're probably doing the same thing in the same way in the same time you've been doing it for 10 years.
I'm more reminded of this:

Re:DRM will never work
The fact is, they do understand, but their clients don't. DRM is just a cool way of ripping off these ignorant companies. This is basically an undercover strategy for pushing evolution and innovation in the hacker culture -- give them challenges and they will improve. NSF doesn't have enough money to spend on hackers doing R&D on DRM cracks, so they ask M$ for help.

Re:I'm sorry...
An IBM Consultant could tell you better what a "solution" entails.

Re:Obviously
I'd start by submitting a question to Ask Slashdot.
Upon which the global "wankfest" will commence, leading to solutions ranging from Novell to qmail based solutions, upon which the OP will look for someone else for advice, upon which the OP will end up paying an IBM consultant to set up his company's email. -
Sarcasm trips up Google's ad-server
Here's a nut even the collective mind of Google has been unable to crack: Machine recognition of sarcasm.
Take a look at the Huh? Corp site, and notice the counterpoint between the devilishly satirical site content and the dead-serious Google ads.
One cannot underestimate the serious menace posed to contextual ad networks by the unregulated use of sarcasm by ad-network partner sites.
As soon as I finish typing up this comment I plan to file for a provisional patent on "An Automated Method of Determining Sarcasm Content by Using a Naive Baysian Classifier Trained on Slashdot Comments."
