Re: It's dumb
http://www.iphoneincanada.ca/c... My brother told me Rogers is doing a 2 year promo for 10GB plan for $60. A few minutes later, he said Virgin is doing $55 and Koodo is doing $60 with no 2 year limit. You can switch to Koodo with your existing phone even if it is locked to Telus. I'm on $40 for 4GB on Public Mobile but never use that much since Shaw and Telus have so many WiFi hotspots in my town. But I hate that PM has no phone support but Koodo does. I left the $48 Manitoba plan for it and regret it. I think I will change when I get home if I can before my next trip. Your welcome.

Here's a map (which is about a year old, to be fair): http://cdn.iphoneincanada.ca/w...
You'll note that WhatsApp doesn't have a whole lot of usage in the US. It's quite popular in Europe and the South America. -
Too bad it isn't honoured by all carriers

Telus seems to ignore the blacklist, at least at this time.

Re:Ok even more off-topic.
Apples problem is not an unsuccessful Ipad mini its a successful one.
Keep in mind that Apple holds the actual iPad Mini sales numbers close to its chest and can continue to do so until it is required to reveal them by law. Which too it can dodge for a while if it wants. So far, we have only seen media spin like "sold out in China". Yeah right. Pretty soon Apple execs will be required to sign their next quarterlies and come clean on the sales numbers or go to jail. Something tells me it isn't going to be pretty.
You're right, Apple only hurts themselves every time they sell a Mini. Which is as good an explanation of "shortages" as any. It's certainly not because the market fell in love with it. Future Shop is discounting iPad 4 and iPhone 5 for the holiday season. Whoops.

Re:Is Apple responsible for stolen devices?
At least one lawyer successfully sued Apple and got compensated when his previous toy got stolen. Why take responsibility for your actions when you can blame someone else?
It looks like, from the link you provided plus a bit of deduction, the lawyer did not win, he settled with Apple for credits, and Apple likely settled because
Apple also serviced Deverett’s stolen computer for someone else even after Deverett called to tell them it was stolen.
i.e. they had his stolen item in their possession and still gave it back to the thief, or the person that bought stolen goods. That was a very dumb move.

I'm sure we'll see you in all the copyright troll threads talking about how the publishers/MPAA/RIAA have "successfully sued" people who settled prior to any trial. I mean, it's certainly successful by some definitions, but I wouldn't rely on it as actually establishing liability, or anything,

Re:Apple Spyware?!
Seriously?! It was mentioned a number of times. You're just acting like a dick.
Here's a link, learn to read. http://www.iphoneincanada.ca/iphone-news/carrier-iq-spyware-references-discovered-in-ios-here-are-the-details/
1) information is never sent in the default configuration
2) You have to *OPT IN* to send diagnostic information to apple
3) If you do turn it on, it has no access to the UI layer - NO FUCKING KEYLOGGING
4) It doesn't send emails or other shit, just phone numbers - you know, for fucking diagnostic on why your phone isn't successfully making phone calls.Fucking Morons.

Re:Google gains nothing by delay
I haven't upgraded to iOS6 yet (specifically because of the Maps issue), but a "report problem" link does exist. It's just (unfortunately) stuck behind the page curl:

Re:Isn't it obvious?
If you really cared about the user experience, you'd buy the PlayBook or wait for webOS or one of the newer Android tablets. (Even as incomplete as it is, the PB is still light-years ahead of iOS in terms of user experience.)
I'm completely serious here. What do you love, really, about the iOS UI? The wall of colorful icons or the intrusive, stop-what-you're-doing-now notifications?
I honestly don't know how Apple gets away with promoting these bizarre myths. It's like the "macs are better for graphics" nonsense all over again.
Are you trolling ? You have to tether the playbook to another device to use some basic functionality, how is that good design ? WebOS: you mean you can tell hw intuitive the user interface is from the demo's, because there is NO shipping device ? I'll leave Android alone, because I know there are people that prefer it but I don't, it feels cluttered and awkward to me. You do have a point on the iOS notification system; it's a throwback to the original iPhone and overdue for a overhaul.
Here's what I love about iOS: there's thought being put into how apps are designed and an effort made to make the experience as consistent as possible. It's not always perfect but it does show. And that carries over into third party apps as well which is why iPhone apps look better than Android apps from the same company.

We cannot discuss this subject
The biggest problem with child pornography and paedophilia is that it has become a thought crime.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1035315/Father-branded-pervert--photographing-children-public-park.html
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/england/merseyside/7474968.stm
http://www.shropshirestar.com/latest/2008/09/08/town-park-staff-to-quiz-adults/It's not just abuse of "Think of the children" even Steve Jobs comes out with the age old you-can't-discuss-this-unless-you-have-kids.
http://www.iphoneincanada.ca/iphone-news/gawker-media-vs-steve-jobs-in-email-flame-war/In the UK this subject cannot be discussed rationally, without a angry mob of vigilantes coming around to your house e.g.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/magazine/4719364.stmWhen the satirical TV show "Brass Eye" covered the media and public reaction to paedophilia
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brass_Eye#Paedophilia_special_.282001.29 thousands of people complained and public figures denounced it as sick despite it's ironic nature.A proper discussion includes considering all aspects and viewpoints before coming to a conclusion. However, if you do not immediately take a severe stance against paedophiles even for the sake of argument, you must therefore be one of them. And you must be hurt.
Hence, posting AC otherwise someone could trace this back to me and my life would be fucked regardless of my true opinion.

Re:Underlying technology.
The US is rather large, and rather sparsely populated. It's harded to maintain a network of up-to-date towers with full coverage here than in finland. Not that it excuses *AT&T's* piss poor infrastructure planning and spending, but it helps explain it.
That is a poor excuse. Canada somehow managed to have a major coast to coast GSM network (Rogers/Fido) that works and then have their CDMA carriers roll out an HSPA network in around a year.

Re:Creative destruction
It was always going to take a disruptive force to get them to recognize data as data and price it as such
Unfortunately not for some of us in Canada. That's right, "tethering" plans will be released by Rogers (on top of 'data' and 'voice' plans!). I've run out of adjectives to describe this.
