    Unless said aunt was in Korea I'd prefer the iPod. iRiver has nothing noteworthy in the American market. If I get iRiver it's going to be something nice like the D30.

    iRiver will ship 1, 2 and 20GB units next quarter. It should be interesting, Apple's response included.

    Differences:
    H10 - 12 hours batt.
    iPodMini - 8 hours

    H10 - 5GB
    iPodMini - 4GB

    H10 - 1.5" TFT colour display. Gorgeous.
    iPodMini - 1.67" grayscale LCD w/LED backlight

    H10 - 95.5mm x 54.6mm x 15mm (96 grams)
    iPodMini - 91mm x 51mm x 13mm (103 grams)

    Except for size, the H10 wins. Plus it plays WMA, which is an advantage for a lot of people.

    Frontier Labs (flash anims included) makes such players. One in particular, the nex cube seems really interesting: It's a cheap no frill player which uses CF memory, 2xAAA and has USB 2.0 (see the animations on the Frontier Labs website).
    Some users seem to hint that the sound quality is below average, though... I don't know what the deal is, there aren't that many reviews on the net. Maybe better earphones will improve the sound. It's a cheap player, so get what you pay for.

    There's another company doing CF players: Maxtech. They went for more conventional designs with LCDs and loads of dials and buttons which is unfortunate because the player also has to accomodate space for the CF memory. Looking at the piccies, they are much bigger than the iriver players. Amyway, specs of the SSP-100 here. No idea if you can find it in the US, but some retailers in Europe seem to have it.

    You want to get the Korean FIrmware. Everything will still be in english, so don't worry about having everything in Korean :D

    I've done this myself for my IMP-400 and it works great.

    Get yours at the download site.

    And no, I don't know any korean, but I managed to find this pretty easily....either I'm uber smart or it's just the most logical designed site ever.

    The iHP-120 is already on the Korean website (iRiver is a Korean company),
