Systm release tonight!
From the creators of thebroken comes a new downloadable tech show: "Systm" (pronounced system). While Systm is a general interest HOW-TO show, thebroken will continue to have 40'z and hacking ;)
Episode #1 will be released tonight at 8:00PM PST! To celebrate, we will be throwing a house party starting at 6:00PM. We'll fire up our live webcam of the festivities along with an IRC chat room. Chat with Kevin, Dan, Keith and Ron (systm/thebroken crew) along with other TechTV staffers (Leo, Pat, Yoshi, Martin, Alex, and others (Ramzi) have all been invited).
Visit the website now: http://systm.org/

When is thebroken episode 4 coming out?
After several weeks of lawyer negotations with G4 (my 9-5 job), they have agreed to release me from my contract. Friday May 27th 2005 marks my last day on the G4 network. That means we are focusing on thebroken / Systm FULL TIME! We are starting to plan the next episode of thebroken now, and we'll send out another update as we get closer to the release! Now that this is our full-time job, expect to see many more video releases coming your way!

Re:Will he
The broken is honestly one of the worst shows I have ever seen. It doesn't show anything other then how to download pre-made applications and let them attempt to break passwords etc. I really doubt that even Kevin and his friends know what is actually happening behind the scenes of these programs and without the freely available downloadable tools they would be completely lost. Not to mention that the Broken ran out of material after three shows and all three of them had very little content. I mean one show they show you lopht crack and show you how to boot a linux distro from a cd. Another show they show you how to make your laptop explode in a way that is completely useless to anyone. Not even to mention the fact that no one cares what's on their laptops because they don't have the knowledge to be a threat to anyone with even the most basic knowledge of computers. Real insightful stuff.....
This is the show for the ultimate script kiddies; I mean the new shows name is systm. I'm surprised these script kiddies didn't pick a name like pwned or 1337. If you want to see how much of a tool Kevin is just check out his blog (http://www.kevinrose.com/) for his awesome hacker tips and insightful posts.... -
A new "Broken" plus digg
I greatly enjoyed The Broken. Whatever happened to it?
The Broken just released a few episodes. Apparently he's going to rerelease it again with systm (according to his blog, those are going to be his two flagship shows).http://www.kevinrose.com/
By the way, he has a website: http://www.digg.com/ which is like Slashdot but community-driven, give it a try. -
Re:Some statements need addressing.
" I'd very much like an x86 case that has the size and quietness of a Mini for a project (yes, I need x86, I have a Mini here too)."
Check it, we put a nano-itx mobo IN your mini
Although I haven't seen (or looked) to see if any nano boards are out in the wild yet.

Re:G4 on SLASHDOT?all of us loved TTV
All? Loved? Both very strong words that may be overdoing it a bit. While I enjoyed TSS when Leo and Kate started it, it never was a truly geek show as another poster mentioned. Kevin (bit player then co-host) was the token "uber" geek and you had to wonder how much was knowledge vs showmanship. The show went downhill rapidly after Leo left. Leo now has a popular radio show. Kevin is off doing his own thing mostly. Patrick is doing occasional articles and recently started a blog. Morgan Webb has her own blog too, of course.

Re:it's an empty case
the current mini ITX board will not fit inside the Mac Mini's case if you are trying to get the same footprint.... remember when Kevin Rose from TechTV tried to put a windows running thing in the Mac Mini case? he used a pre-release nano-ITX mobo.
This intel mockup is an empty plastic box with a wristwatch glued to the front. while Kevin could not fit in an optical drive, he got a lot farther than Intel did.
on top of that the Mac Mini has some extra room and an unused internal firewire connection that this week sparked speculation of possible future revision, or that the rumored built in iPod dock was in the plans at some point.

Re:You want me because of my .. referral?...don't be a smarmy pissant and use the popularity of his work to increase your chances at winning a Mac mini
Although I agree with you, this Kevin Rose chap seems to be actively encouraging exactly those comments.
Pyramid schemes provide benefits to
<acronym title="suckers">participants</acronym>
in inverse proportion to the expontentially growing userbase. There's a finite number of people who will follow you into these things, and only those who get in very early stand a chance of attracting the requisite numbers to receive the pay-off. Plus they've sold their privacy (and their time, when it comes to dealing with the deluge of spam). For these $FREEITEM offers, there are two groups who stand to lose (and therefore underpin the entire scheme):
- latecomers who sell their privacy and time for no eventual $FREEITEM (since they can't attract a further ~10 suckers); and
- the advertisers themselves who spend more on the
<acronym title="people who just demonstrated they are too cheap to pay for things anyway">qualified sales leads</acronym>
than they will ever make up in sales conversions.

g4techtv
perhaps this may give people a better portrail of g4techtv ratings and stop cancelling shows and firing show hosts like the screensavers.

RE: Slashdotting Gmail...
Kevin Rose tried similiar to this on The Screen Savers on G4TchTv.
I believe it was fillmybox@gmail.com and he asked everyone to send him attachments.

Here's the list of the 9 bugs!I just got the list of the 9 bugs found in Orkut that prove it was a copy:
- Those 18-year-old cheerleaders are really 45-year-old fat, bald men!
- There's a member named J*sus Chr*st that's not actually the son of G-d
- It's PAINFULLY SLOW
- The forums are lame
- There's only one person named "Robert" in the community "People Named 'Robert'"
- You can be friends with *both* John Kerry and George Bush
- Half of the users speak in unintelligible "foreign" languages instead of English
- Kevin Rosewon't approve any friend requests.
- The scrapbooks fill up with crap.
Obviously, this list of bugs proves Orkut copied his code!
