Go Georgia!
Time to root for the little country trying to get its own territory back under its own control.
Puting's claims of "genocide" are pathetic and would only work on the already brainwashed Russians themselves. Seeing these assholes trumpet their government's lies is just as scary as seeing Chinese bloggers' anti-Tibet postings.
They are trying to paint South Osetia as some sort of Kosovo, where the evil Georgians deserve to be punished the same way Serbians did. Except, unlike then, there is no genocide or "ethnic cleansing" (Saakashvili is much smart than that), and no country was giving Kosovars their citizenship left and right so as to be able to pretend, they are defending their own citizens. Lots and lots of South Osetian have gotten Russian citizenship in recent years — just for asking. Imagine, for just a second, America trying to annex Iraq this way — we would not even force Puerto Rico in!
If US is not careful, next year Russia will come up with a "good" claim to send tanks to Brighton Beach — plenty of Russian citizens there!..

Re:Video conspiracy debunking workIt's the same reason Snopes is reasonably trusted -- debunking a claim doesn't take nearly the credibility it takes to make one.
Huh? Isn't Snopes in the business of debunking claims? Or did you misword your sentence: what I think you were trying to say is that it is easier (and requires less credibility) to make a claim, and it's harder to debunk it?
Whatever you meant, I think it has more to do with *who* made the claim. If we are told, let's say, that Silverstein, owner of the WTC bldgs., "pulled" them on purpose to collect the his insurance policy by Fox News we'd probably believe that over a bunch of web sites saying 19 arab crazys hijacked a plane with a box cutter, somehow managed to avoid NORAD, outflew fighter jets, hit the towers dead on, and the pentagon, and they exploded and collapsed.
As for Snopes, I like the site overall, but Mikkelson really fell down on the job as far as 911, especially with her bias (see the rather odd personal nicknames at the bottom of each article). Many of the "rumors" she has as false simply because that's what she read in the 911 Commission Report, which claimed to investigate every single scrap of evidence, yet somehow forgot to investigate why WTC 7 collapsed. Others that she has marked as unsubstantiated can easily be verified by querying Google to find severable reputable news services. Her source, whatever it is, says otherwise. And sometimes does not even include interesting, verified, reports - for example she has the govt certified report of the cheering Arabs, but stunningly neglects to mention the 6 Israeli agents who were seen cheering and "high fiving" as they filmed the towers burning, and were subsequently mysteriously released. So Forget Snopes. Start here, at this excellent site: http://www.scholarsfor911truth.org/index.html

It has happened againAnother victim has come forward
(Wonder why they pick on us Texans?)
Last week's story about a retired Texas school teacher who came under Homeland Security's microscope for paying off a $6,522 credit card debt has been trumped by a similar case involving an amount of just $650.
Previously, Walter Soehnge made national headlines when he attempted to pay off debt on his MasterCard. The payment was rejected and automatically triggered an investigation by Homeland Security.
Now we have the story of Edie Booth, a community college professor in East Texas.
Trying to pay off her February credit card bill, Booth found her funds short and so asked to borrow $650 from her sister to avoid an interest overcharge of $140.
Booth made a $3,500 payment from her own account and then sent the other $650 with permission from her sister's electronic account.
I watched the status of these two payments on line, since I am not the 'trusting' type, when it comes either to banks, credit card companies, OR government," says Booth.
"The $650 was pending one day and then showed funded the next. All seemed fine. However, I continued to check the status on-line for the next 5 days.
"On the 6th day I found the extra $650 payment CANCELLED."
Upon calling the credit card company, Booth was told that Homeland Security would not allow her to make two payments from two different sources in the same day.
Booth was then slapped with the $140 overcharge for causing the hard working boys at Homeland so much inconvenience.

Re:This is not personal. They have to protect it.
"Oh, of course! Obviously the US is to blame! You don't need to explain it or back it up. Hell, your statement is so bad that it's not even false - it's just plain nonsensical."
The only thing nonsensical here is your childish reply to a completely foreign concept.
Depending on how much you treat the internet as a source, there's an article here about what I previously mentioned: click.
Be careful though, it may be too much for you to grasp in one sitting. Particularly striking is this quote, "Virtually no one knows that in Wright-Patterson Field in Ohio, in the Library of Congress and in the Department of Commerce in Washington, a "mother lode" of 1,500 tons of German patents and research papers were being mined furiously after the war. One gloating Washington bureaucrat called it "the greatest single source of this type of material in the world, the first orderly exploitation of an entire country's brain power."
Mining a country's brain power = intellectual property theft. A plan for a machine or a process is intellectual property. Prior to the war Germany was very strict about not patenting it's inventions in other countries or licensing the tech to other countries for production. Now you see why.
There are many, many documents and books related to this subject. It's just not that well known, because who wants to admit that the tech they're working with was stolen? If you come up with a revolutionary idea, and I shoot you and claim it as my own, is that wrong? When you said, "Things like copyrights and patents can certainly be good and useful, but they are not property law and they do not deal with peices of property. Thinking that it is property, thinking that it is or should be the same as property law, well that just leads to mistaken conclusions", did you ever consider books? You believe in physical property rights but not intellectual property rights? Do you think that books also should not be copyrighted because they are just made up of words in different order?
Oh and not to nitpick, but you should attend your English classes. I before E except after C would teach you that it's 'piece' not 'peice'. Also, 'rediculous' is spelled 'ridiculous'. It's one of the few words you know which is not spelled like it sounds. -
Re:More than that
How are you supposed to protect yourself then? Dial 9-1-1 and tell them that you're the victim of an in-progress attempted murder? Get real.

But television is fine. . ?So parents would rather their kids be exposed to beautiful lies rather than the web, where they have the ability to sift through the bullshit interactively and possibly find truth? To read opinions from multiple perspectives on any given issue?
Oooh. But, Porn. Nekkid people!
People who are going to become screwed up by this are going to do so regardless. If there are people walking around who aren't dangerously blithering only because they didn't have the option of exploring things on their own, then I am not encouraged. This is not television violence. This is not drug use. This is not fast food designed to be addictive. This is not video games. This is not culture and fashion as promoted by music videos.
--Didja know that Britney Spears' videos were created by none other than, Greg Dark, noted for his previous work in distributing child-porn? He was making the infamous Tracy Lords films when the girl was 13. Today he's also today making videos for Mandy Moore and the pre-pubescent Leslie Carter. This guy should be bloody knighted for his work in screwing up culture and creating an environment which has caused a ballooning of the multi-billion dollar pedephillia market, which today dwarfs even Disney as a money-making engine. People blame the web? Wrong! The web is simply a means to express individual will. Television is the mind-programmer. Television is the culture destroyer.
Of all things in pop-culture, I think that the web is one of the very few which may not be directly destructive at all. By raw necessity it incorporates the user's choice in every click and action, and because it is possible for regular PEOPLE to create powerful content, not just the corporations. Channel surfing only provides choices from a barrel of mostly rotten apples. The web gives you an entire orchard.
Further, there is nothing, (to my knowledge), about the web which is directly physiologically addictive/destructive. The web is nothing more than ideas and images and sounds, all of which can be turned off without exiting the web itself. Even the freekin' advertising is an option! Amazing! The web, unlike television, does not almost instantly lull the brain into a hypnotic state of scientifically measurable suggestibility! People think they are not affected by television media? STUPID! People aren't even properly conscious when they watch television, for crying out loud! But with the web, brain activity actually increases! --Depending, of course on the choices of the user. One can just as easily slide into stupidity on the web if they want to. --But it is through choice, not through an addictive craving to sit down in front of 'Friends' or 'CNN' or some other bullshit, you know; to relax after a hard day's work.
--Yes, young kids should be taught to exercise caution in chat rooms, etc., because there are predatory adults in this world. (A lot more of them today thanks to the likes of Greg Dark.) This is a sad truth, and it's best to learn these survival skills. If you want to protect your kids, teach them about the ugliness in the world; teach them not to be afraid of it, but how to recognize trouble and how to deal with it. You are not helping them by looking over their shoulders, re-enforcing guilt culture while they seek to learn about sexuality. Oooh, sexuality and guilt. There's a healthy combo!
Frankly, I'd be more concerned about a kid's exposure to the EM bubble created by a CRT monitor, and by that soothing flicker which plays a role in the creating of hypnotic states of awareness in the viewer. Get them a flat screen, tell them about the world and how it works, teach them not to fear or shy away from ugly truths, and encourage balanced activities in their lives. Happiness comes from self-determination, and self-determination comes from awareness and action. Soothing lies deplete and destroy.

Are you kidding?
Whatever man. Suck it up. I'm sure all this talk about "The Jews" had nothing to do with it
;)
here you go
Nice try buddy, but the favourite quote is "
Stinking Rotten Jews Make Cakes of Human Blood and Excrement, and Eat Them While Watching American Pornography" I know it's an open forum, but if I said that in Slashdot or any other site, I'd expect the post to get modded down to deletion. -
Nto a hate site?

Damb this is just someone trying to pander the masses to his cause. His intentions may not be to be a hate site but look at the link it seems that it is. And of course because he is labeled as such they are all just looking to crush his free speech. Their are tons of examples of full blown and borderline hate speech if you look through the site. He got what he deserved and if people are using the product that blocked his site I say good for them at least they got this one right.
Cliff I have to ask do you ever look through these before posting or are you so inundated with submissions that this crud slips through sometimes. -
Re:Gee, I wonder...
Do you have such an easy explanation for this story on the site? Eh? (quote:
When are the 97% of Americans who are not Jewish going to wake up to the subversion of their democracy by an alien money power busy subverting Christian principles and dictating a dangerous Babylonian-satanic foreign policy?
) This comes at the end of an article whose second half is a claim that ``there were no mass exterminations at Auschwitz'' and ``concentration camp conditions couldnt have been that harsh at all''I'd provide quotes of some of the really nasty, hateful stuff which was in the story I linked to above, but the editors of the site seem to have yanked it after it was pointed out here....
Face it -- this site is chock full of anti-semitic nonsense. I see no problem at all with the fact that a (voluntary, independent) rating service classed it as `hate speech'.
