Re:In every way? Methinks not...
You need to check out the facts on that head-to-head comparison of NTie and OS/2. Here is the link: http://www.microsith.com/jedix-myths.php3

Re:MS Earth
Rebranding the planet Microsoft Earth
Somebody already has an answer to that one. It's called MS Planet Exploder 5.0. -
Fires of altruism?
your underlying product is forged in the white-hot fires of online altruism
Redhat is competing with Sun, IBM, Microsoft, Suse (Novell) and dozens of other firms in the OS market and you're describing its big challenge as surviving the marketplace for altruism? I don't think Linus cooked up GNU/Linux just so it could be run on the machines of geeks for the benefit of other geeks. He must have known that when he tossed that source code out onto the Internet that there was no telling where it would end up. Redhat's focus must be the blue-white fires of the business computing marketplace or it will be as passe as the "Nifty Fifty" of the 1970's. Where are they now? Ever check out the list of the Dow Jones Industrial Average components in 1960 versus now? Today's Microsoft is tomorrow's Litton Industries or Penn Central Railroad. Compete or die.
If you want to look deep into the future for Microsoft, this site tells all.

Re:This is helping them more than most of their pr
While I have not RTFA here (hell, this *is*
/.), I would also have tended to want to side with the Redmond lot on this one.
Registering a website with that name so he could send spam, he deserved all he got. What Microsoft do with the money is another matter.
This is an example of what I would consider fair use. Not sure that they have updated it in the last 10 years though :-) -
Microsith?
Guess microsith is next.

Whew, another delay...
Great news! Attention fellow Microserfs, now we can delay Longhorn even further. Of course, now that we KNOW we are facing extinction, that means our Microsoft stock options are kinda worthless. For all the latest news, be sure to check us out at Microsith.com

my thoughts exactly
There are quite a few people getting far too uppity about this. And while it is a goal worth taking political action over, I think one of the core problems with the Open Source movement is the fact that we don't know when to back down. Our collective character wants to resolve the problem, crush the "evil bad guys" (Microsoft and proprietary giants) and save the future of computing for people everywhere - seriously, it's our mindset. We grew up watching star wars and star trek, right? As a movement we've been overcome by the blindness and fervor that we decry in the corporations and government we struggle against.
If we truly want freedom, we should be fighting for the freedom to choose - the freedom to pick the best tool for the job. The freedom to use open source if it is better, or to pick proprietary software if it's the best tool for the job. Passing bills mandating the use of open source in the government takes away the freedom of the government to do its job as efficiently as possible. We're taking away from their freedom. Using the exact same method that the MPAA, RIAA, and other corporate entities make use of things like the DMCA to impact our own freedom. And what's the point of inflicting one "freedom" on the government just to take away another? -
related to the Spyware storyThis used in conjunction with the javascript crappy 2nd generation darth paperclip technology mentioned in the recent Spyware story will make for some horrific web experiences. Remember static web pages, where you chose what to read an what to do and how to react when you dragged the mouse over a link? Odds are, in five years you won't.

What does this mean for
What does this mean for sites like www.microsith.com, and even worse, http://www.mslinux.org?

Hey! Closed Standards! Cool!
However, many problems still plague the infant platform such as standards and a central company to enforce those standards.
I apologise. I have clearly spent the whole of my life misunderstanding standards. Apparently, you need a central company to enforce them. I am so sorry for having thought that open standards work, and closed ones don't. Where do I sign up for re-education?
Please, just look at which standards are used and which aren't. TCP/IP is used by quite a lot of systems. AppleTalk isn't. FTP is used a fair bit. ICQ's proprietary 'send file' doesn't seem to be very popular outside AOL. More people use Ethernet on LANs than use Myrinet (which is often faster). More VCRs use VHS than (the technologically superior) Betamax.
What do the successful standards have in common, I wonder? Are they managed by a single company? I think not.
A standard is only succesful if it is truly open. If it's not, why should I (or anyone else) invest time, effort and shedloads of money developing for it? What's the guarantee that the 'controller' of the standard won't change it tomorrow for competitive advantage? Ever looked at Microsoft Office file formats? They are almost always incompatible between versions.
Succesful standards are there because they get used by lots of people. They get used by lots of people because those users believe that the standard will be stable, and that they can (if neccesary) influence development of the standard.
If you want a gaming standard for Linux (by which I assume you really mean X), then propose one. Invite the interested parties to contribute. Encourage feedback. Keep the process open. I'll say that again: Keep the process open.
Who do you trust for Internet standards? IETF or Microsith?

Re:Brisith?
Seems appropriate. Seen the MicroSith web page? It also compares NTie with the free Jedix OS.

Darth Paperclip!
Hey, I think this is a good time to mention Microsith... These are people who understood the true nature of the talking paperclip!

Hey, that's what I use ...Microsith already has released it's Lookout product.
Take a look at it here.
You know what to do with the HELLO.

C2 Blah Blah Blah.
When Is M$ gonna figure out the computer users of the world are slowly being de-sheep-erised. I mean allready thousands of former M$ fans who swallowed everything Dollar Bill said cause he is supposedly the smartest guy around (eeeh. Guiness Book of records says smartest guy around is a 12 year old jap who speaks 42 languages with an underteminable IQ somewhere above 220...Dollar bill can only speak (arrogant) english and (broken) code.) What I am trying to get to is that as the world starts to (slowly) figure out what this whole computing thing is all about, they'll stop falling for pretty words and pseudo-certifications that are voided when you connect you machhine to the internet. They'll figure out that the greater majority of system security breaches are based on exploiting buggs in (mostly OS) code. Thus
stability = security = UNIX damnit.
By creating an operating system that has tight passwords and whatnot you have not created a secure system, not as longs as it crashes every few weeks. Because a crash, stall etc. by non-human intervention speaks of a system that a malicious HAXOR can easilly lead into a willfull exploitable system crash. Wham ! Buy-Buy privacy. Ever tried to deliberately crash a nix ? It's pretty hard these days and getting harder all the time, because the underlying code was designed from the ground up to be stable, and that makes it secure. Ever notice how a new security update for IE appears about once a week. Because M$ is allergic to decent debugging. They rather ship buggy stuff and have you download a few million updates every week. (Ever thought of how that screws your phone bill ?) Anyone who is still sheep-ized after this do yoursellf a favour and go see the UNofficial M$ home page. -

Microsith vs. the Rebels of LinusMicrosith is a great parody site, and I highly recommend that you check it out if you haven't already. Visit all of its sub-pages, too -- not just the main page. They left me in stiches. Also, I'm afraid I couldn't resist the urge to post the following pun-riddled drivel in its user feedback area:
Darth Insidious vs. Luke Warmweather
The above was changed ever-so-slightly from my original Microsith post, so I guess that makes it Service Pack 1.
Together, we can ruin the galaxy as FUDder and stung!
Never will another Dagobah without a BSODomy!
Always trust ActiveXterminator control from Microsith? [OK]
(EULAgree that the Linus in the sand.)
Kenobi-have, baby, yeah!
You don't need to see my processor identification.
But I want to transmit my applications this year and be the best X Windows pilot in the galaxy!
I must learn the ways of Open Force and become a Jedix Knight. ;) -
