Re:Double standard...Belief in an idea larger than yourself and that you can't ever really be sure is true is Noble.
So we should respect these guys - http://www.mufon.com/ - instead of calling them fruitcakes?
Or perhaps you mean "noble" in the chemical sense and are suggesting they're congenitally unable to form stable relationships? If that's the case, there's going to be a lot of bowing and scraping amongst the Slashdot community in the days ahead...

Re:UFO cover-up
Yes, it's obvious that this secret was not kept due to all the evidence that we have:
There are radar tapes, cases of jets being scambled, physical evidence, etc. That this has been denied does not make the issue go away. -
But... They're here already
MUFON. Can't be bothered to Google for the zillions of other good UFO references.

Re:no drugs necessary
I am the MUFON field investigator that posted above.
"It's what originated many people's belief in flying saucers," said Phil Scott, author of The Wrong Stuff: Attempts at Flight Before (and After) the Wright Brothers. "Anyone on a lot of drugs would think it was a flying saucer."
Oh really? Has he actually spoken with any eyewitnesses or done any research into the UFO phenomenon? I'll bet he hasn't, and furthermore, I wouldn't be surprised if he isn't on the payroll of a military branch whose job it is to spread this sort of misinformation.
The Men in Black don't exist, but the Air Force Blue Berets do.

UFO sightings
I am a field investigator for MUFON. I've been investigating sightings here in the Midwest for quite some time now, and I've come to believe that stories like this one are planted by the government to make people believe that UFO's are secret military aircraft.
Well, I've been out there, in the field, taking the eyewitness reports. I do not believe for a second that these craft that people are seeing are made by humans.
Go out there, talk to eyewitnesses, talk to an abductee - you'll quickly realize that stories like this are carefully written "plants" by conspirators that reach the highest corridors of power in World Government. -
UFOs ARE REALKubrick's films are so multi-layered that it isn't surprising to find someone drawing bizarre conclusions about them. It's like reading a book that tries to analyze Revelations (the bible book); you can make this shit into almost anything.
Unfortunately, too many people start to believe what they read just because it's in black and white. That is why Kubrick stopped filming in black and white after Dr. Strangelove. Never again did he film in anything but Technicolor, which adds layers and layers of complexity to his films.
UFOs are real, and Kubrick knew it. They are slip-streaming from exactly 1521 years in the future (1521 being the biblical number of the Oracle Beast) to both aid and destroy us. Kubrick discovered this in his research and was nearly killed by Clarke, who helped mastermind the conspiracy.
