Re:retaliation
You should really wake up. The government protects it's own. I remember when anyone spoke out against Clinton they got audited http://www.papillonsartpalace.com/irs.htm I'm sure that information could be used against many people currently in office. The FBI is simply protecting the people who give it funding, and if you believe the FBI would side with whats RIGHT vs. what serves their best interests then you are a fool.

Oh, "they" are not targeting only Wikipedia.
Attacks against The Enlightenment (see also: Age of Enlightenment) say for example, upon the idea of freedom of speech, in the name of one religion or another (let's just stick with this one religion for now) have been ongoing since reason began to displace superstition.
More recently, you may remember the cartoon controversy? This faded from the collective consciousness after "they" (people whose minds are captive to superstition of the islamic brand) repeatedly threatened, and then killed Dutch Filmmaker Theo van Gogh , great grandson of the brother (also named Theo) of the famous painter, Vincent. Contemporary Theo was guilty in the eyes of islam of making a film which was critical of the treatment of women under islam.
The great clash between Islam (unwittingly and unstably allied, by the way, with fundamentalist Christian radicals who are working within the western democracies to undermine the same feared Enlightenment values and institutions in favor of their own brand of superstition) on the one side, against the cultures and nations descended from The Enlightenment on the other, is coming to a head in Europe. The demographic trends, and the inability of the European cultures to assimilate their immigrant Muslim populations (alternatively, those populations are disinterested in assimilating), cause concern that Europe's democratic institutions will be subverted as instruments in the religious colonization of those European countries that gave birth to the Enlightenment by Islam, and their eventual conversion to theocracies in fact, if not in name.
March 2006:
"If Europe continues as it is now, the rising Muslim tide will, one at a time, transform the members of the European Union into Islamic Republics under Islamic Shari'a law as Muslims become the majority population."
February 2008:
The Archbishop of Canterbury says the adoption of certain aspects of Sharia law in the UK "seems unavoidable".
It has been suggested that this problem is exacerbated by limited economic opportunity for young people in these countries.
An Economist Considers the Riots in France (from 2005, there were more riots last spring, March 2007)

Re:This is Slashdot
There is some truth in their stories. Why not leave it "on the news stands" for educated people to determine what is right?
Why can we not look into the bad things muslim extremists do? They do blow stuff up, why should they not be held accountable? Is CNN doing anything like that?
And mohammed was apparently a pedophile, if you believe multiple sources online. There are numerous web sites supporting the "alleged" fact that mohammed was a pedophile. Google "mohammed pedophile" (until they decide to unlink "hate sites")
Some quotes from web pages:
His third wife was 6 years old when he married her and 9 when he consummated the marriage. To say that Mohammed was a demon-possessed pedophile is not an attack. It's a fact." (quoted from Murder for Fun and Prophet) http://www.hyperhistory.net/apwh/bios/b1muhammadca .htm [hyperhistory.net]
[T]he Prophet (Muhammed) married her (Aisha) when she was six years old and he consummated his marriage when she was nine years old, and then she remained with him for nine years (i.e., till his death)."
(Hadith, Sahih Bukhari 7:62:64) http://www.geocities.com/AntiJihad/mo_pedo.html [geocities.com]
Volume 7, Book 62, Number 64: Sahih Bukhari Aisha: that the Prophet married her when she was six
years old and he consummated his marriage when she was nine years old, and then she remained with
him for nine years (i.e. till his death). http://www.papillonsartpalace.com/muhtpammed.htm [papillonsartpalace.com]
Maybe they are all lies. Maybe the original source books are lies. Whatever. It is out there and may be true. How can you check stuff like that.
Is it racist to have a new site that states "Various online sources are saying blah, here are the sites." ? I think it is bad for google to start censoring news. They should have a little check box (like safe search) in your preferences to allow you to search all sites, not just leftw wing PC sites. -

Slightly misinformed
It's a little of both, I'm afraid:
According to this news article, it's some residents of the city that are suing. Admittedly I didn't find the source before posting. I basd the posting on my recollection of a conversation with a friend. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,170468,00.html
HOWEVER, I believed it because of the ongoing assault on Christian's rights from the ACLU which I have seen again and again:
http://archives.cnn.com/2000/US/11/01/desert.cross .ap/
http://www.cnn.com/2003/LAW/08/27/ten.commandments /
http://www.aclu.org//religion/tencomm/16298prs2000 1012.html
http://www.kotv.com/main/home/stories.asp?whichpag e=1&id=91429
The constitution says "congress shall make no law regarding the establishment of religion" When a county puts up ANY display, that's a county matter, not a federal one. Where are the rights of the states? GONE!
Why does the ACLU regularly file suit on issues like government properties allowing the display of Christian religious symbols AT CHRISTMAS when the VAST majority of people in this country celebrate that at LEAST as a secular holiday. Is it really oppressive? No way! This kind of thing makes me sick!
What does the Boy Scouts having their jamboree on federal property have to do with the establishment clause? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! The Boy Scouts having 'under God' in their oath is NOT the state establishing a national Christian religion.
Non-ACLU assaults

http://www.snopes.com/politics/religion/wtccross.a sp
Here's the point, these are NOT about getting the state to endorse my religion. What it IS about is that there are a majority of people (still) who agree with the vast majority of Christian belief and practices, and who are not negatively affected by the city, county, state or feds recognizing that these ideas are consistent with community standards and offer some value to the community at large. Also, the facts are that the 10 commandments have a unique relationship to the rule of law in our country and it's revisionist history to claim otherwise.
Let's be clear, persecution of Christians for their religious beliefs DOES occur. Predominantly this is at the hands of atheistic or Muslim governments. More than 150,000 Christians were killed last year for their Christian beliefs. (Source: Missionary to Indonesia speaking at my church - not available on the web. This number is consistent with other sources I have heard.) What's happening here is not persecution. What is happening here is that the culture is becoming more intolerant and hostile to my worldview. Others may disagree, but I have observed management in my company tell people that they cannot discuss religion at work. This is a violation of free speech rights regardless of religious views, but there's a fear and perception that recognition of religious belief at work is unacceptable. It's only going to get worse and worse.
Do you believe that when the school system rents a church facility to have graduation (because school facilities are not big enough to handle the event) that this is the state sponsoring religion? What if the "church" is a synagague, mosque or temple? Frankly I would absolutely NOT care if the school system rented and atheist-owned hall for graduation. If my kids' worldview was going to be damaged by one incident in one location one time, my world view would be pretty indefe -
Re:Why?
Correct. If you read up on the folks running it (http://www.princeton.edu/~sacraver/, http://www.ee.binghamton.edu/pages/craver.html, http://www.ws.binghamton.edu/fridrich/), you'll see that much of their research has obvious military and national security applications (see http://www.ws.binghamton.edu/fridrich/projects.ht
m l for examples).
Other articles, such as http://www.papillonsartpalace.com/howT.htm, http://inside.binghamton.edu/May-June/10MAY01/frid rich.html, and especially http://inside.binghamton.edu/November-December/13d ec01/security.html point to the common theme of research into countering covertly evil data or programs. This contest, then, could contribute towards this goal by offering numerous known examples of how innocent-looking code could conceal malicious conduct. Presumably this knowledge would/could be rolled into systems for intercepting or identifying actual instances of this kind of sneakiness "in the real world" (ie, our good friend Homeland Security).
I am also captivated by Dr. Fridrich's Rubix cube skills. And to think, I just graduated from SUNY B and never even met her. A shame. -

Re:You know what's great
The figure of 100,000 has been thoroughly debunked and, as a result, you can pretty much ignore anything said by someone who chooses to use it (would you pay attention to an author whose sig says "The Earth is flat!"?).
Anyway, you can google for the debunkings (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=bush+killed
+ 100%2C000+debunked) yourself but one page that talks about it is at http://www.papillonsartpalace.com/dveathby.htm.And, before anyone gets all upset and accuses me of being pro-Bush, I'll state here that I am an Objectivist and a Libertarian. The deluge of lies and gross manipulations from both sides of the GOPDem monster make me sick.

Tell me again that Slashdot isn't biased...
...to the left. Voter fraud goes on in every election, by lots of people in both parties. And it's not like there's been a lack of stories about Democratic voter fraud. And pointing this out DOES NOT ENDORSE IT. All voter fraud should be punished. But it's a damn disgrace (and a big help to the Democratic party) to only point it out when it helps Republicans. Since Slashdot won't report it when Dem s do it, here's a recent sampler:
- Attempted Democratic Voter Fraud In Nashville
- Voter Fraud In South Dakota
- Colorado To Tackle Voter Fraud Fears
- Rendell will send monitors to elections offices
- ACORN Voter Registration Fraud Allegations Are Just the Tip of the Iceberg, Says Employment Policies Institute
And lets not forget the revelation that the Democratic Party plans a pre-emptive strike by alleging voter fraud in close races, even if there's absolutely no proof of it.
Slashdot; not fair, and damn sure not balanced. -

Lets clear a couple things upYa, Saddam was against some islamic extremist.
An important point here is that there are quite a few groups of people out there that hate the United States and their allies. These groups, these people, are consumed by their hate. They are hate. So it stands to reason, at least some, hate each other.
Proof of the Al-Qaeda / Saddam relationship.
Still hungry? Iraq is a refuge to terrorists now. Infact, its their staging point. Al-Qaeda associate Zarqawi did a little damage today in Baghdad.
And remember, theres a little difference between map geography and ideology. In the middle east, as we all know, polar opposites sit in close proximity (so don't blame the country of Saudi Arabia). Although I think the kind of policies they institute foster the environment that breeds terrorism and western hate.
Don't take our countries word against Saddam. Putin warned us of Saddam's regime planning (terrorism? This would be a declared war i'd think) attacks against us.
Was he trying to grow a bigger mustache than Hitler? Lets not forget what an evil man he was, and how the media quickly forgets the attrocities and in some cases, covering up for him.CNN Exec Admits Covering Up 'Maniac' Saddam's Atrocities / Access of Evil. READ THIS ARTICLE. Be thankful we are in a country of freedom.
We are only scratching the surface of this demon. Remember, not much was known about the gassing of the Jews until well after it happened (and they didn't have CNN burying it)

Re:28 countries exempt
If the FBI had properly done its job (as Bush alleges, shifting the blame from him)...
The job of the President does NOT include foreign intelligence, that is the CIA's job. The President's job does not include screening travellers at the airport, that is the FAA's job. When Bush got the job the security and military forces were in tatters, and the blame for this can be placed squarely on Clinton, who dismantled the military and the CIA during his office, and BRAGGED ABOUT IT.
Not only that, but it has been documented and admitted to by Clinton that he was offered Bin Laden by the Sudanese. http://www.papillonsartpalace.com/clintBon.htm
There is no reason to "shift the blame" from Bush. There is no sane way to blame Bush in the first place. -

I found a mirror of a recent Newsday article:
