Switching over to "guilty until proven innocent" would make their job easier.
I hate to break it to you, but it's been that way for over a decade now. Police are no longer required to show up at your trial if you contest a ticket so you lose your right to cross-examine the witness, contesting a ticket costs more than just paying the fine, public announcements are made about arrests including their names even before a trial has taken place, the list goes on and on. With these measures in place, you ARE guilty until you prove otherwise in court.
I received a ticket for speeding one night and it was for a section of road I hadn't even come close to. Apparently I turned right onto the highway just as a policement in "pursuit" came into sight. If they had traffic cameras I could have proved it.
I'm not sure I would be bragging about the fact that nobody even tries to make commercial software for Linux.
Um...there are TONS of them. Everything from network/system administration tools for corporate sized networks to back ends for transaction based software (IT trouble tickets, etc).
Why is everyone assuming the 2 yr old has to actually start the vehicle and drive it for this to be a problem? Mentioning clutch in your statement assumes stick shift. Stick shifts can be EASILY put into neutral by just pulling or pushing on the stick slightly.
but pressing the start button on the remote starts mine, then when you press the brake or try to put it into gear without the key in run position it shuts of
That is one car. How about a stick shift with no keys in the ignition? Just taking it out of gear with it facing a small uphill slope in the driveway is enough to start it rolling right into traffic. And if my niece could make it up to the cookie jar at 2, she could make it into a car for sure.
I represent the newly formed 'ember' party. Our flag is the burning embers of a once-hugged tree. Our motto, 'A beer in every cooler'. Our world political stance, 'If you don't like us, we'll gladly stop sending the tax payer $$ you unappreciative bastards.' Our terrorist statement, 'If you touch us or our short list of loyal friends, all your base are belong to us'.
The right-wing stations have been ranting about this for over a week now and I'm really glad it was defeated. Even talk radio was being targetted with this. Personally, I'm not going to read over every line of every bill. I depend on things like that to inform me of someone trying to slip something like this in. So for all of the left or right wingers with blinders on: right wing - wants to listen to what you are saying (privacy) left wing - wants you to keep quiet or pay $10K (free speech)
Personally, I prefer to keep hearing what's going on without hearing it from a paid/biased lobbyist and just not do anything stupid to end up on a terrorist watch list for the privacy thing. With the latter, you're screwed on both counts since you wouldn't hear about the next privacy bill.
I just follow the route of install OS with the check boxes they need, edit the yum config, yum install mythtv-suite. It really isn't difficult enough any more to need knoppmyth, etc IMHO. When I first started using myth, it took days to get it running right with ivtv, lirc, etc.
I tend to think people come up with a really good password, then they have to come up with 12 others in a row after each expires and disallows reusing an old one.
You go back to the dark ages to bring up an example for Christians, yet I can go to yesterdays newspaper to find murdering atheists. Does this mean all non believers are like that and can be fit into a neat little category like you so kindly did for religious people?
Believe it or not, religious people don't sit around the table at night plotting to come kill you or anyone else.
Christians believe that killing will condemn them to an eternity of hellfire. Atheists believe the only consequence to actions in life is if you get caught or at the very worst, guilt. People who have an absolute hatred of a mass group as a whole scare me. It's worse than racism.
It's funny how people only notice things when it's against what they want to see. The anti-christian community utilizes the same methods in trying to enforce where/when people can pray or trying to change decorations on a holiday celebrating the birth of Jesus.
Not scientifically proven? I don't care what Rush Limbaugh has been telling you
Jumping to conclusions just to flame someone? How rude. I'm sure the left wing appreciates you speaking out for them.
Among scientists that study climatology and related fields there's an overwhelming consensus.
Then what happened 400 years ago when it was just like it is now? The fact is that geologists have found evidence that it goes in cycles and it has been much worse than it is now.
The heat-island effect has been well-handled since the mid-90's. There was a period of about five years where satelite measurements and ground measurements were inconsistent, but now multiple methods, including ice core data, are consistent.
The thing that bothers me about those scientists is that they go on short term measurements and assume it's been constant for thousands of years. Geologists have disproved this time and again. I don't see an ice age going on right now so I'm pretty sure things cool off and heat back up again. One of the cardinal diagnostics of a crank is that they bring up past disputes and problems as if they had never been resolved, and refuse to look at the details of how they were resolved.
See above in relation to 1 decade of measurements to prove global warming.
Another thing I hear wackos on tv try and spew out is that the cause of these more violent hurricanes and storms is from this global warming. They have unearthed proof of devastation far worse than any current storm in the past and I'm pretty sure it wasn't from all the humans driving around in SUVs to hunt wooly mammoth. There is no proof either way but it looks like a cycle to me based on history. Yes I know we can contribute to making things worse, but I think we're naive to think we can have that great of an effect on such a grand scale.
They are likely to be poorly educated, so won't grasp the importance of the correlation between smoking and a shitty diet, and an early death from lung or bowel cancer or heart disease.
Why is it...in this day and age....people STILL just assume that people don't know you can die from smoking or from a bad diet? NOBODY thinks that a daily diet of 2 packs of cigarettes with a bucket of extra crispy chicken wings is good for you.
I have found this to be different in every state. In Texas we have the max allowed alcohol content (around 6%) in mainstream breweries. In liquor stores you can get some even higher % imported brews. When I go through Oklahoma...ugh...3.2% really IS water. A 6 pack makes you pee and that's about it.
Yeah I guess that is why hotmail just shits all over gmail:)
I know it was a joke and it made me grin...but....my Gmail spam filter blows compared to the configurable hotmail one. I never get spam in hotmail due to me being able to restrict only to people in my list. GMail seems to send me about 50 a week with the filter enabled. It's probably due to me having an email address starting with an 'a' so I get the first wave before they are reported as spam.
I think the real point people are missing is what kind of ride Spaceship One had going into orbit. It wasn't exactly incident free with it spiraling for about a minute. They may have even been lucky that wasn't catastrophic.
Fox news being one sided is as old as saying Windows has a BSOD every day. Over a year ago I would have completely agreed with you but now the others have become so liberal that Fox moved more towards the middle just to be able to report the same issues. Liberals will argue to their death beds that news isn't liberal but you just don't see it unless you aren't liberal. To a liberal, hearing liberal news is no big deal.
The rule of thumb I give anyone who comments on news channels they hate is this: If 50% of what you hear doesn't fit into "I don't care" or "that pisses me off", you're watching a news channel biased to your own opinions. When was the last time your non-Fox news channel pissed you off?
This is an unauthorized thought process.

Explain how those are different, other than that maybe the second has twice as much A.
;)
Maybe I can help. A by itself is half the plutonium needed to detonate. A mixed with A has a much more positive result

The earth isn't round it is a oblate spheroid.
I had one of those one time. The Dr took care of it though.
Here is proof of global warming. Notice the gradual decrease in undie size since the 1800's. ;)
I ask what is the point of sending say spam in Hebrew or Chinese or Korean to a .uk address!!!
No kidding. I still wonder why I get so many Russian 'Learn to read english' spams in the U.S. I need a class just to read this Russian spam.

..."73% of students it surveyed said iPods were in, while beer drinking and Facebook.com fought for the second place with 71% of popular votes."
;)
However, when this question was posed to slashdot readers, 99% chose to talk about American beer and completely ignore the iPod topic
