Bioaccumulation
Good thing I don't eat the stomachs of fish. Now if their meat were contaminated with microplastics, then I might worry about it accumulating in my body. Some quick research suggests that microplastics bioaccumulate, as implied by the summary. What really irks me is that 'farm-raised' fish, which should theoretically be free of bioaccumulation problems present in the wild, are fed cut-up wild-caught fish, so the pollutants get fed to them anyway. Where's my grass-fed Kobe fish?!

The CIA has a few good plans for that

What was the view that: poor regions are breeding up, their young will be smart and wont just export raw materials for cents in the US$.
Their gov are now trading outside the US$. -
Re:Quicktime is the problem?
Well, you can use a Microsoft tool to do dangerous stuff in

Just replace the words rabbit or jack rabbit with the words islamist or muslim. -
You mean like this one developed back in the 90s

Re:Social Engineering
How do you determine the dotless number?
The dot-less number is a 32-bit unsigned integer.
Slashdot's IP is 66.35.250.150. Each number is an 8-bit unsigned integer. In binary it would be:
01000010.00100011.11111010.10010110
remove the decimals
01000010001000111111101010010110
convert binary to base 10
1109654166 is the answer.
If you need to do it on paper, this way may be easier:
66.35.250.150 =
(66 * (256^3)) + (35 * (256^2)) + (250 * 256) + 150 =
1109654166
Wondering if it would work to protect email addresses on websites from harvesting, when you can't obfucate them beyond what any browser can see (due to the client base you need to let contact you not having a technical clue).
While I don't know for certain since I don't know how the email harvester spiders work, I would think it probably wouldn't make a difference. You may try to use a disposable email address service like Sneakemail and generate a new contact address each time the older one gets too much spam. -
Re:Works by maintaining/increasing telomere lengthit prevents the shortening of the telomeres; it doesn't actually lengthen them after they've been shortened
Actually, telomerase does extend telomere length.
Also, here's a nice animation of telomerase's action(long, animated gif, may be slow on slow connections)

Re:Campus Net-Radio
Taking this a step further, don't forget about the campus radio stations themselves. The CMJ sourcebook is chock full of station addresses and music directors names.
Hell, send a copy to my alma mater radio station. Drop me a line via the Chemical Wonderland link and I'd be more than happy to help. -
Re:MIT
SUNY Plattsburgh has dual boot comps in the CSC lab running Redhat an Windoze 2000. However U need to be taking atleast one CSC class to have an account on them. (It's funny when somebody that isn't taking a comp sci class gets in somehow [somebody lets em in]) The main labs run Windoze 98 with a login prompt for all students.

Re:PC replacement?
that is my interest in Linux for Playstation 2. I'm a comp sci major and I mostly use linux. I have an old PC (486) that is just getting me by but I need to goto the lab whenever I need to get something done that requirs speed. Everyone tells me I should upgrade to a new PC. But, being a poor college student I don't have the money to buy one. However, I do have a Playstation 2 (of course I have the money for game systems we all have priorities
;)) I could install Linux on it an viola! a brand new programming, paper typing, E-mailing, and web surfing computer is born. =) -
Comp. Sci. Major at Plattsburgh State
I'm a Comp. Sci. major at SUNY Plattsburgh The Computer Science labs here are dual boot Linux (Redhat) and Windows 2000 machines. Most students here prefer Linux though over Windoze. Most of the classes teach howto program in Linux. The use of Windows isn't discouraged but most people choose not to use it. Also most of the teachers prefer Linux over Windows, only one Windows user among them. This seems to be a pattern here at Plattsburgh State.

Two things
First, I much prefer elvis to vim, I think it should be there, after all there are two emacsen there.
Second, I don't think the Pico license meeets the Open Source Definition, which is why I started the nano project in the first place...the category is best *open source* editor, not best *nix editor. -
Re:Vote for Pico!
I would've voted for pico, but I use "nano" now..
:^) It's an awesome GPLed clone of pico, but with search/replace and line-goto features. Check it out here..
-- Does Rain Man use the Autistic License for his software? -
nano
Yup, again I'm nominating my own project, not for the sake of nominating it but so I can get the word out about it and get help/patches =-)
nano - nano's another editor, a GPLed pico clone with a few enhancements. -
Erg
I hope it didn't just post that one line comment, that would suck...
Anyway, I loved the matrix, it's got to be my favorite movie of all time. Hopefully the next movies will have more short of the computer screens so I can improve CMatrix and jwz can improve xmatrix. Let's hope that Morpheus and Trinity play big roles in the next movies; Neo may be the chosen one but the movie would have not been the success it was without the talent of the rest of the cast.
