Re:SCO license for you, sir?
Don't be too sure - its now at;
Yes - 32%
Yikes! It seems that the Countdown ending has put the fear of God into the Pointy Haired Bosses!
It's currently 29% Yes; we'll see what the next instalment of the saga brings...

Re:SCO needs to do better homework
So now they've shown the code. By tomorrow morning, we'll have Linus, AT&T, Novell, etc showing that nothing is wrong with it. And most interestingly, according to the countdown, they only 3 hours to file suit if they're going to follow through on their 90 promise, yet its 7:45pm here in California and all courts east of here are closed. The only way they can file suit now is to do so in Hawaii where its only 4:45pm (they don't honor daylight savings time). Of course, they only have another 15min. I hope their legal counsel has offices in Hawaii.

Just wanted to remind people....
At SCO Countdown, I have a countdown to SCO's self imposed deadline for suing a Linux end user (I doubt that a Novell lawsuit can be counted as a end user suit), so remember, SCO has to file another lawsuit in 28 days or it misses it's deadline. In addition, after that litigious bastards campaign that was started on
/. a few days ago, I acquired that domain and threw up a quick page.

Zero Hour
On a related note, according to scocountdown.com, SCO should hand over whatever evidence they claim to have to the court....TODAY!

Re:STILL boggles my mindI know that the judge has required that SCO show proof (in a couple of months)
Actually, according to this site, it's suposed to be tomorow. Since tomorow is a sunday, maybe it'll happen on monday, or maybe that just means it'll have to be within the next week.
Either way, it's going to be interesting to watch... -
Not Unix"Certainly if they're using 10,000 Linux servers that include our intellectual property as part of Unix, we would want them to license," said Blake Stowell, a SCO spokesman.
But Blake, Linux isn't Unix, it's a Unix clone. Oh, and one more day to put up or shut up.

Yes, this is being counted down on the following website: http://www.scocountdown.com/
However, this expires at midnight, so expect something the next morning. -
Wow...
Wow, three SCO articles in one day! I'm always up for more SCO stupidity (being the owner of SCO Report and SCO Countdown), but don't the editors think they can stretch out the SCO news, so there's one article every day? Certainly would make me pay up for a subscription...
Anyway, yes, I RTFA'ed Linus's response before the /. story came online, and I have to say, the IBM lawyers are going to have a field day kicking SCO's butt. However, I just _know_ tomorrow, I'll wake up and there's going to be a slashdot story about SCO rolling back their comments, saying "Well, those are just examples to justify our DMCA notices; we have more examples for the court" or something along the lines of what happened in the slideshow incident, with SCO saying the example code was just a sample, it wasn't representative of their whole case.
Besides, think about it. SCO has been saying for months that they're not going to release what the infringing code is in public. I find it hard to believe that SCO is, with one fell swoop, slicing off the head of it's own case.
In this case, I think I'll reach into the history books. To quote Winston Churchill:
"This is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning."

HA HA HA, SCO!
Wow, two SCO stories in one day. It might be better just to dedicate a brand new
/. section on sco (sco.slashdot.org or caldera.slashdot.org, etc).
Yes, SCO is definitely going down. Anyone have new ideas on what I should put up on SCO Report or SCO Countdown?

Times almost up.
Their time is almost up anyway.

Is he...
Young, who serves as a Red Hat board member and is no longer involved in the company's day-to-day operations, believes that McBride's recent statements amount to an attack on Young's new business, an on-line custom publishing venture called Lulu Inc., that Young founded in the spring of 2002.
Is this guy going to file a lawsuit against SCO too?

less than that
It's now down to less than 21 days, actually.
Noticed someone's comment yesterday pointing to this site: scocountdown.com. Note that the deadline you're referring to is not the one at the top of the page.

Why?
First off, why is such a worthless OS front page news on
/.? SCO Unix is mediocre, and nobody would even think of using it. The only reason a SCO Unix review is on /. is because of the lawsuit hubbub.
I was poking through the SCO web site some time ago, to find good stuff for my SCO Report website and I discover SCObiz. Check it out. For $5,000, they'll basically give you a template site, with mediocre ecommerce ability. The datasheet is here (pdf), while the quick facts (pdf) is here. A Flash tour is here.
The Flash tour is pretty snappy, but you can tell, it's nothing more than a glorified template driven website builder for newbies, similar to what Tripod and Geocities provide with their drag and drop stuff. It's probably even worse.
Remember to visit SCO Report, where I do my part to annoy SCO with the truth, and SCO Countdown, where there are clocks counting down to SCO's demise...
