Re:Jenny Hanniver says:
They don't need Amazon or eBay! They got their own website for that
(Though why aficionados don't just journey to their ancestral habitat of the Great Salt Lake is beyond me...)

Re:Man Sized?
Either that or a gigantic prehistoric Sea Monkey.

I would like to see a fish tank full of them! -
Re:Oh boy, points
What? No sea monkeys?
-
Yeah...but...
How well would our new tiniest-fish-in-the-world friend do in a battle to the death with a Sea-Monkey ?
-
So what's new?
They've been doing this for years, taking old eggs and creating life from them.. they are called Sea Monkeys
:-) -
But after a while...
The so-called Martian "sea-monkeys" would turn out to be no more than an elobarate deception consisting of (admittedly Martian) brine shrimp larvae being passed off as something decidedly more cute and consumer friendly.

Why Plants?
There are other alternative to plants. You go to a local toy store and get some Sea Monkeys, (you could also go to the local petstore and but a package of brine shrimp eggs). Or if you want more aggressive creatures you could get some triops. Very aggressive and a great conversation starter. All of the above would fit in a small container on a standard desk.

I think $90 is a little steep.
Why spend $90 when you can just buy these little guys?
Entertaining and life saving! And as an added bonus, you can celebrate your recovery by throwing your bandages on the barbie! -
What's in Utah's water?
btw: wtf is in the water out there? SCO, Orrin Hatch, etc
Salt, yes. But more importantly: Sea Monkeys!
Yes, Utah's origional "not quite what it seems" business comes from the primary life form of the Great Salt Lake.
Remember the joy and excitement as you read the testimony on the back of your comic book about ordering and caring for your very own Sea Monkey family - no, kingdom! For only $24.95, you could be the god of a small world of miniture water people, kept in a tank in your bedroom.
How many of us raced our order down to the post office and waited each and every day for our little world to show up in the mail. The anticipation and expectation was tremendous. And could you ever forget the brutality of our crushed dreams when we discovered these little water people were... brine shrimp?!!! How could they do this to an idealistic child?
Yes, SCO has so much in common with its Sea Monkey marketing kin. The false claims. The hype. The dreams. The promise of owning the Linux world. Only to be dashed by painful realities. Worse yet, the commonalities in the executive qualities and mental dynamics of the two entities leaders is downright terrifying.
Oh, the horror of the Salt Lake's hollow promises!!! -
Cool, I can add them to my "aquarium" at work...
Cool, I can add them to my aquarium at work and my Sea-Monkeys can have pets of their own !!!
Sea-Monkeys® are a true miracle of nature. They exist in suspended animation inside their tiny eggs for many years. The instant-life crystals, in which the eggs are enclosed, preserve their viability and help to extend still further their un-hatched life span! Sea-Monkeys are real Time-Travelers asleep in biological time capsules for their strange journey into the future!
Scientists call this amazing rare process "cryptobiosis" which means, "hidden life". Among the types of life on Earth that are cryptobiotic in early stages of development are the seeds of higher plants (wheat grains from the tombs of the ancient Egyptian Kings have sprouted after being sealed in urns for more than 2,000 years), the larvae of certain insects, and the thick-shelled eggs of some crustaceans such as Daphnia, seed Shrimps (Ostracods) and Brine Shrimp (Artemia salina). Sea-Monkeys too belong in this category, since they are a variety of Artemia. A relative of Lobsters, Crabs, Fairy Shrimp and other crustaceans, instead of originating in the ocean, Artemia are found in salt lakes and salt evaporation flats. The waters of these areas are often so salty that Artemia may be the only non-microscopic animal inhabiting them.
Are they Brine Shrimp?
Because fish eat and thrive on brine shrimp, for years they were collected as eggs or alive, to be sold as an aquarium "food." Although all along, brine shrimp had the very qualities that would, at a later date, make them one of the most desirable pets ever sold, it simply never "dawned" on anyone to consider them as anything other "fish food". Now, thanks to Sea-Monkeys, this attitude has changed.
Although Sea-Monkeys are a species of brine shrimp, they are unique. We not only unlocked the most elusive secrets of their life cycle, we created new formulas to keep them alive under conditions found in the average home--an accomplishment never before achieved! Finally, after years of crossbreeding, we developed a hybrid. These amazing new hybrids grow larger and live longer than any "natural" variety of brine shrimp.
How long do Sea-Monkeys live?
Thanks to new computer-driven processing technologies and ultra-pure, non-toxic chemicals, twice as many Sea-Monkeys instantly hatch, grow larger and live longer than ever before.
An exact, pre-blended formula of "magic crystals"--and live Sea-Monkey eggs are inside the envelopes supplied in every Sea-Monkey kit. When added to water, live Sea-Monkeys will hatch. That's why anyone can get perfect results without any knowledge of chemistry or biology. Just by following the easy instructions you create Instant Life®. The only "extra" is the water. At birth, the Sea-Monkeys are very tiny, no larger than the "period " at the end of this sentence. That is why it's possible to "overlook" them when they are first born. Since their fate is in yours hands, do not discard the formula if you don't see them right away. To do so would be like "throwing the baby out with the bath water."
Are Sea-Monkeys safe?
Sea-Monkeys are in no way harmful to humans or the environment. If they somehow find their way into natural water ways or sewer lines, they simply will not be able to survive outside of the formula. -

The truth of Mars Life
Brine on Mars?
Of course! And you can find Martian Life here. -
Did someone say "brine?"
Scientists now believe that advanced colonies of Sea Monkeys once inhabited Mars.

Mozilla naming problems
Please, everyone keep in mind that the naming situation wouldn't have been nearly as bad if Phoenix hadn't made such a big deal in the first place.
The big, bloated, everything-including-the-kitchen-sink Mozilla that you download from mozilla.org is called Seamonkey.
However, nobody ever refers to it as Seamonkey - it's just Mozilla. Phoenix/Firebird was just being referred to directly as Phoenix/Firebird until Seamonkey could be retired and the rest of the developers could move over to the new codebase. At that point it would've been "Mozilla Browser" and "Mozilla Mail & News" again (as far as we end-users are concerned).
If Phoenix hadn't flipped out and had just waited a few months the "Phoenix Browser" would probably have been forgotten.
It's not like Mozilla ever got sued by Exploratoy. -
And the point of this is...?
I remember playing with magic sand 20+ years ago - what's so new about this? Go to a toy-shop and get some for yourself!
Sheesh! Next thing we know, someone will be submit a story about amazing new pets! -
Re:Sea monkeysFrom the Sea Monkeys site, in their scientific analysis of the aforementioned creatures:
Just by following the easy instructions you create Instant Life®.
Sounds like another intriguing theory of evolution to me. I'd recommend researching it if it wasn't already registered as a trademark.

Sea monkeys
.... Using laboratory fruit flies and a crustacean known as Artemia, or brine shrimp...
Or also known as sea monkeys . Is anyone but me disturbed by the fact that they used sea monkeys to prove one of the mechanisms of macroevolution? -
Can Side-show Shrimp Survive?
Cute. Six-legged Sea Monkeys. (At least they'll look more like they do on the package.)
Question, though. What selective advantage would a shrimp with six legs have in the wild so it could turn into a fruit fly 400 million years later? Interesting to see that shrimp can be born sans a few legs in a laboratory, but what about the other half of the "chance mutation, natural selection" juggernaut? (BTW, aren't the legs crucial to their swimming ability?) Remember, unless you have both a mutation and a survival advantage, you can't have successful macroevolution. Shrimp that are easier to catch & eat won't get great odds in Vegas.
