Re:Photos
Is that the lawsuit that I see over the horizon?
http://www.soldam.com/ pioneered in the small form factor PC cases and component with small form factor motherboard in Japan.
One of their flash ship were named "Pandora" and "Pandora Plus".
Hem....box looks like iMac and it even borrows name from soldom product.
Shuttle's XPC has always been a rip off of soldam product.

Re:it's an empty case
I guess you haven't been looking very hard. You can get PCs that value the design esthetic as well. Take a look at these, for instance:
http://www.soldam.com/case/jazz_take5/index.html
(Note: Parts of that site appear to be down)
I'm not saying that Apple machines don't look good - most of them do. However, there is more to the PC world than Dell, and/or cases you find at Fry's. -
Re:soldam is an excellent option.
Clickable link
Aaah, the possibilities of html. -
Other things to add...
How about Soldam? They've got quite a good range of cases and MBs to choose from. A bit pricey, but very nice stuff.

Re:What's Next?
Secondly, why are the traditional "beige box" makers so reluctant to follow?
I think it's for the same reason that most of the cars produced in the last 15 years look so similar. Distinctive design tends to polarise people - those who like it like it a lot, while those who don't, hate it. Large manufacturers have tended to take the conservative approach with lower risk, even when a higher-risk approach might have brought higher rewards. That said, there are certainly a number of companies producing functional and aesthetically pleasing designs around x86 hardware. The first that comes to my mind is Soldam (who also have an English site.) Check out their Pandora Dino or Polo R Figaro for example.

Re:Cult of the Cube now available for x86
A bit expensive, true, but it is a bare-bones system, not just a case. From the specs:
- Shuttle FB51 mobo
- 200W power supply
- 8x CDR / 8x CDRW / 24x CD / 8x DVD drive
- case fan
- IDE cables, etc. -
Cult of the Cube now available for x86
I just noticed these cases today, and they made me think of the Cube.
Useful for those who want to build a Mac-ish lookalike, I suppose. -
Shuttle - ugh
Pity that they picked one of those ass-ugly Shuttle cases instead of a supersexy Soldam model.

Re:Hasn't this been done before?
If you look on their web site, the table/case is called the PRISM II. I found it.

Re:small cases?
As a side note, thanks for that Soldam link? Those Prism cases - er, tables are neat (even they are $477 U.S. - yipes).

small cases?
Anybody have good reviews/recommends on Flex/micro ATX cases and P3 motherboards? I want to make a small router/gateway PC and so far I've found el-cheapo cases and Soldam. The Soldams are nice but too nice. I want something like this:
Small and flat, no vents on top if possible.. think of a shrunken-down 2U rack server. No cubes.
space for a floppy, CDROM, one PCI card, one HD.
built in VGA graphics of any quality
built-in 10/100 ethernet and one serial port
quiet would be nice..would like to run it with just the PS fan.. probably I'd underclock it.. it's replacing a 486 so there's no problem with speed
Anybody built something like this?

Re:Very cool indeed
How about one of the soldam pandora+ cases and mount a LCD on a swivle bar ala the new imacs. Then you could say "Oh yeah well look at this sweet beauty" to a mac fanatic.

Re:Cute...
When does it start comming out in fruity colors?
How about now. -
Re:emi a problem, but nice design
Just buy this baby...
Changes the whole meaning of the phrase 'computer desk'. -
Speaking of cubes
Wow. That is pretty cool. Speaking of cube computers thoguh, i found some other interesting designs.. check out www.soldam.com for these really nice small looking cubes... Note the price is in yen though, use this to convert.

If you want a cube, aluminium case..
Try this one
It's not very small, but does look good. Especially that black case, which should go very well with your new black flat panel :-)
And for those who remember Shuttle SV24, it uses the same MB, Shuttle FV24. -
Another similar, but better looking case
