"The Forge of God" and "Anvil of Stars" (sequel) are the best IMHO "Moving Mars" was a bit dry and political in places, but had a really interesting ending (let slip the hounds of war). "Queen of Angels" was a bit weird, but in a good way. Kind of Gibson-esque I thought.
1 core for the OS "because when no applications are running the OS still needs its own core"
1 core for your music player "because you need a dedicated core to handle all that DMA'd I/O"
1 core for Firefox/Thunderbird "because that core will be so busy while you are reading the text it just downloaded for you. And you need a separate core to monitor the network traffic that is mostly handled by your NIC hardware (see DMA above)"
1 core for compiling "because everyone knows that real man don't do make -j5"
Just because it is on the Comedy Channel and you are supposed to laugh does not mean it is not substantive, insightful, critical, thought provoking, sad, true, accurate, dramatic, etc...

It saved a lot of muscular expenditure of course, but meant you had to stay infuriatingly still if you wanted to keep listening to the same programme. D. Adams"
Well, thanks, but apparently no one (with mod points) thinks so.:( It's not that original either. Somewhere on mozilla.org (or related) there is the saying "there is no netscape, there is only XUL".
I know binaries. I've worked with binaries. You sir, are no binaries.
Wrong planet. They should've sent them to Jupiter.

Um, maybe tune the filter to block the red->infrared, leaving the blue->green->yellow->orange for the plants? Or is that hopelessly naive?
Arguably better than 'Walla'. Yes, I've seen it spelled that way.
Well, I was going for +1 Funny there. A 2x4 is a piece of wood used in construction. Core 2 Quad == 2x4. Get it? Nevermind.
I don't know about you, but I'm planning on building my new home with these new Intel Core 2x4's.
re: your sig - I wonder what happened to the people who tested Preparations A-G.

I believe you are thinking of a different Stokes.

Of course then there are the fart jokes.
I can see it now. Incorporate this with Microsoft's Clippy.

They're working on it. http://blogs.adobe.com/penguin.swf/
I did - no noise. Well, except for the normal AM static. :)
I just did a quick test and switched my nearest one on/off and don't see any change in signal or nois levels.
Really? How do they do that?
Yes. But she probably didn't talk back. OK, maybe "Get away from me, creep.", but not much more than that.
"Forth with you may be."
Wow! All this time Yoda was speaking in Forth?
Or is this just some Soviet Russia mind-trick?
1) Get on the Internet
2) Be Funny
3) Profit!

Amen to that Brother!
Oh, you meant running under Xen? Sorry, I thought you meant, you know, by itself. My bad.
You told it wrong!
Well, thanks, but apparently no one (with mod points) thinks so. :(

there is only Zune?
Minister: "He was a loner and a quiet young man. He attended church and Sunday school. I remember he was always very polite."
Koppel: "Do you believe he killed Buckwheat?"
Minister: "Oh, yes. Definitely. That's all he ever talked about."
