    In the past (for disasters) people have linked to directly organizations like the red cross. "Lowtax" (Richard Kyanka, the person who runs the site) wanted to send anyone who donated free merchandise as a thank you, which is why he chose to do it like this.

    Economics! Supply and Demand.

    When there was a short supply of DVD-r 4x media, it costs more as a result of short supply. There wasnt much demand, so no reason to have a large supply. As demand increased, supply increased and you had a lowering in price.

    Err - Not to flame, but just so you know, you do look rather unintelligent saying that.

    Read up on CPU Architectures. Theres a difference in the way the chips are made. Comparing the clock speed of an x86 to any chip, whether it be PPC or SPARC or what have you, can not be done - you need to compare application launch time, etc.

    Like comparing apples to oranges... (hah)

    I think its interesting (Maybe the right word is insane?) how technology (specifically, the internet) is supposed to "bring us together", but laws such as the DMCA, and orginizations such as the RIAA and the MPAA push to limit how we can come together, as far as music (which is held by many to be the "universal language") and movies.

    I dunno. Just a thought.

    Go into your passport preferences (not hotmail ones)

    Uncheck the option at the bottom allowing microsoft to give your email address.

    I only get one spam every few months. ::shrug::

    Yes. A Default install doesnt have telnet enabled either...

    no remote access == more secure than any remote access.

    On IBM's desktop computers though, the protection isnt as strong.

    I introduced the lock on that IBM Desktop Computer 300GL to my craftsman drill. Needless to say, the battle proved to be futile for the lock. About 5 minutes later, i was able to turn the lock with a paperclip.

    (sigh, it figures the people id like to talk to over email dont give their email out)

    I am a high school student myself. I designed my schools firewall (no joke), show up often to class with books (okay, so i suck at homework, but i get it in most of the time), love math, can type at 60wpm.

    Though to be honest, im not the script kiddie type, im more of the sysadmin type. Which brings me to your last point, it doesnt make much sense to recode ipf ;-)

    I guess /my/ point is that you should be careful to not make such broad generalizations (i.e. stereotype).

    Wow. That is pretty cool. Speaking of cube computers thoguh, i found some other interesting designs.. check out www.soldam.com for these really nice small looking cubes... Note the price is in yen though, use this to convert.
